  1. This is my first post after lurking for a while. I submitted my partner visa on Sunday and am in the process of uploading all my documents the same as you, Bound4Tassie.

I do have one question: does anyone know the best document category to use for our personal statements? I haven't yet found an appropriate one.

When it's been witnessed (because it does need to be as well as being included in the application) then upload it to show different areas of the application such as financial status or living arrangements etc. we uploaded ours something like 4 or 5 times each and it must have been ok because my bf ended up getting subclass 100 :D xx

  2. Hello everyone, we are putting in our visas next week, I am an Aussie and sponsoring my OH ,my kids will go with descendants of an Aussie so will have Aussie passports, it looks like from all replies that the visas are granted after the 10mth mark, but question for you all, when it is granted how long is the deadline to leave the UK, as we are unsure when to put the house on the market ? Can you do the medical and police before they ask for them and then send them in or do you have to wait for them to say when to go in , any help would be much appreciated

We applied for my bf's visa in May last year (when it was an 8-9 month waiting period) and did the medical and police checks within a month of submitting the application so you can do them all at the start then just upload all the other documents you think your CO might need then too...if they want anything else they'll let you know (we were asked for more financial records going all the way back to 2012) either when they do their initial contact email to you, or further down the line after that.

In terms of the deadline, it's usually around the time that the medical or police certificate runs out depending on which is dated the latest. I say usually tho because in my bf's case he has until 3rd September to arrive in Australia but his medical was done at the end of May 2014 and his police certificate was done in early June 2014, so it is also down to the CO's own discretion/your specific situation. In terms of putting your house up for sale, I'd say contact an estate agent in your area to see how long houses around you take on average to sell, then you can take it from there. Also see if you can put a clause in the contract that the house isn't available until you have your visa? It's a long shot to do that of course, and indeed some home buyers may be put off by it, but the rate at which UK solicitors and surveyors go at I think you'd be ok to put something like that into the contract lol

Anything else you want to know, just ask...it's what we're all here for; to help and advise each other [emoji2] Also I have a word document template that I did for when me and my bf did our stat decs about our relationship that I can send you if you want? If you do want it then just drop me a pm with your email address and I'll get it sent straight over to you xx

  3. VISA GRANTED!!!!! Wahoo!!!! Straight to a subclass 100 :) That's 8 days short of 10 months - we applied on 28th july and were quoted 10-14 months.

Cant wait to get there now, we fly on August 26th and are heading for country vic. Exciting times!

Congrats! We got the subclass 100 too (back in February) and fly out 24th August...we'll also be going to country Victoria [emoji2] xx

  4. Oh and regarding the online application also; try to get it front loaded where possible with everything you think they may want to prove your relationship. Photos are easy to do, documents like phone bills etc; not so much. Oh and find a solicitor who will witness your documents also; makes it easier to upload them without any further questions as to your identity from your CO.

  5. Hi guys, another question..

My partner (applicant from UK) and I are looking to apply online for the Offshore Partner Visa (309/100) in the next couple of weeks. Is there a limit to the amount/size of documents/photos you can attach in the online application form?

The reasons I ask is that we have about 100 documents and photographs (each around 5MB max) that need to be attached and didn't want to be caught out at the last minute having to decide which ones to cull if there was in fact a size limit.

I understand there is a 14 day window to submit everything. Does anybody have anything relevant to share regarding my question or the whole online application process itself?

    Thanks a lot!

    B

We didn't upload any photos at all, other than the official ones requested for the application. They seemed to be more interested in things like bank statements, phone bills and proofs of holidays together (email any companies you've been on holiday through, explain that you need proof for your visa application and they'll send you a letter/invoice confirming it); basically the general nitty gritty of the relationship. If you attach things like photos then they'll just get annoyed with you :( Oh and make sure your statutory declarations include EVERYTHING that relates to your relationship...if you want I can email you a template I made up based on the statutory declarations me and my bf did?

  6. The application was both 309 temporary and 100 permenant together in one form so I assume it rests with the decision of the case officer if he/she thinks we qualify for a permanent visa as we have been in a relationship for 5.5 years - the application form States at least 3 years. This is actually the second visa we have applied for as in 2011 we were rejected for a de facto visa based on the fact we couldn't provide enough financial evidence. We lost our application fee and was a very difficult time in our relationship - when you have planned your life together and something stops you in your tracks where you can't live your life in the same country with the one you love is devastating. However 4 years we are stronger than ever and now married so we are hopeful this time will be a new chapter :)

I can't stress enough to others starting the process how important IT is to check you meet the criteria for the visa before you pay the charge - we learnt the hard way!

Yes it does depend upon the CO...me and my bf have been together over 7 years now and we still thought we'd get a 309 but nope, straight to 100 :)

  7. Hello! I'm an Aussie and my partner a Pom and we're currently compiling our application and have spent the last few months on these forums getting loads of advice and Info (first time poster though!)

we seem to have come across loads of things that need stat decs? How many on average do people seem to have completed with their applications and how much is the cost to have them signed/certified in the UK/Where is the best place to do so? Can anyone give us a ball park figure on how many stat decs they have completed? :)

    many thanks in advance!

We did one stat dec each and then once it was witnessed by a solicitor we uploaded it to each of the different sections of the application it related to...about 7 or 8 in total. If you want I can find the template I did and email it to you? It also only cost us about a fiver to get ours certified...but then we did use a solicitor in Derbyshire which is markedly cheaper than one down in London lol

Oh and as for stat decs from other people...two aussie citizens is all we had and my bf got granted subclass 100 straight away [emoji2] xx

  8. I just saw this!!! Congrats!!! Not been on as been celebrating/organising flights etc!!! QLD here we come!!! eeeek exciting!!! When are you heading out and where are you off to? oh and just incase anyone doesnt know singapore airlines do a migrant luggage allowance of 40kg xx

Thanks [emoji2] [emoji2] [emoji2] i know so excitings!!!!! We fly out 24th August to Melbourne with Etihad as it was the cheapest airline lolol they do 30kg each plus hand luggage and then a handbag etc also xx

  9. That's great news, how long did it take? Did you use an migration agent? I'm getting excited seeing all these approved visas, wish mine would hurry up! Congrats!

Thanks [emoji2] no we did it all ourselves...waaay easier than the migration agents make it out to be lol we just put everything possible they might want to prove our relationship and got all documents that needed certifying done by a solicitor that only charged us £15 for the privilege...and even then that was cash in hand lol. We applied 10th May and so it took 9 months 2 days in all. When did you apply? xx
