  1. Can anyone help me please. Currently filling in a parent visa app and the checklist asks for 'evidence of where all your children reside (eg. passport, citizenship or residence certificate)'. I could provide a copy of their passports but that will not confirm evidence of where they reside as they reside in Australia and yet their passports are British ones. I would assume evidence of where they reside would have to be something like a utility bill confirming their address but it doesn't suggest anything like this. Their Australian addresses will be on the application form anyway so shall I just get them to get certified copies of their passports?

    Hi

Welcome to the parent visa treadmill.

We supplied copies of our sons permanent residency visa, what DIBP are looking for is proof that your offspring are "settled" in Australia l, so I don't think a British passport would suffice.

    Hope this helps.

Remember to look at the specific thread on here for any advice and support on the parent visa process.

There are loads of us going through, or have gone through the long process.

Good luck and if I, or any of us fellow parent visa applicants can help - please feel free to ask!

Thanks so much for all the support that everyone has for each other on this forum - its been a valuable source of information, and glad to have been able to share it with your all.

Good luck to everyone, and especially the other 23rd Juners - Tien and Julie. I hope you are both celebrating soon too.

  4. Good morning/afternoon :-)

Here's some good news for a Friday...

There's room for two more in the final waiting room!!! WE'VE BEEN NOTIFIED OF OUR VISA GRANT TODAY!! and we are so happy!! so relieved! Here's to the end of November when we board that plane :-)

Good luck to everyone else, I really wish you well - it's been stressful, long, I've become paranoid at times about what may happen/if I filled something out wrong/if I sent something to the wrong place/if I got the cheque amount wrong/if I deleted an e-mail before seeing it - it's amazing how so much goes through your head haha and I am sure I'm not alone on that!!

I will keep checking here to check how you are all progressing. There are a few who will be right behind me :-)

Farewell for now and all the best and thanks for all the support over the past 2+ years!

  5. Hi there, can anyone recommend a Pet Shipping Company? We are sending our 3 year old Husky from the UK to Perth, Australia.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks. LL

    Hi

I would recommend fetchapet based in colchester essex but cover a wider area.

We used them in July and found them excellent and very caring.

    Good luck with it

  6. We actually moved out of our house (we had lived there for 38 years!) to our rental in June as we knew we would be in Oz at completion date. We knew there were lots of new developments near our family and the main infrastructure was better on the west side of Melbourne, so went looking. We liked the name of Diggers Rest and the train went straight from there into CBD, so paid a visit to sales office, found a plot we liked, paid $1000 deposit, arrange a conveyancer (one suggested by sales woman) to check contract, then paid full deposit 5%. We got completed contract and the whole process took a week to 10 days. We then had to forward copy of contract to FIRB with fee for approval which we got. That took less than a week! We needed this approval because we did not have residency yet. We then looked on line at different builders within that area and found one to our liking with good reviews, Mimosa Homes. Arranged a meeting with Sales Consultant, picked house plus extras that we wanted, and paid $2000 deposit. We then had another meeting with him to sign off plans and check over everything. This happened over the same period as the land deal. He is arranging a further meeting for us to choose colours, fitments etc before we leave Oz (end of this month) so the house can be completed if we're not here. Yes, you do pay for the house in stages, and was advised to get main stages checked by independent building inspector . The whole process only took two weeks

Owing to the drop in the exchange rate, we decided to go down this path as we figure we have saved in excess of $100,000 by buying a land/house package, plus you only pay stamp duty on the land not the whole thing. Also first time buyer grants are applicable!

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Geoff and Gill

Hope you're both keeping well and congratulations on the new arrival.

I think you should check on the First Home Owners Grant (FHOG) as I don't think you can get this if you have bought under the FIRB scheme.

For your sakes I hope I'm wrong!

    Cheers

  7. Hi all

Had a disaster today, we have completed our form 80`s ready to send and now the USB has got corrupted and we can't access anything so looks like we have to start again.

Now we are using Windows 8 or 10 we can't seem to save it and looks like we will have to complete and print a page at a time, also we can't enter any dates via the computer.

    Any ideas kind people?

Cheers a very stressed Steve and Ann!

  8. Good (early) morning/afternoon fellow parents waiting oh so patiently. So, I'm happy to report that I've now heard from our case officer! Hurrah!! For those I know who are wanting to hear of other docs (Hi Julie :-) yep Form 80 has been requested. I believe they ask as a matter of course now. We have no convictions, have funds to take (as specified on application), live in just about the lowest risk place anywhere and in good health (they've had our medicals already). But right now I'm just so happy it's moving forward! We have 28 days to get everything back including AoS finalised. Hopefully not long now before all other 'Junes' will be hearing from them too. Skipping my skip o'joy today :-)

    Amanda

    Hi Amanda

Great news - we're so pleased for you and I'm sure the aos will be sorted soon.

    Keep us informed please!

    All the best

  9. Hi guys,

im hoping to get some advice. I am a qualified nurse and my husband and I have 3 young children. One of my girls has been diagnosed with lung disease and another has asthma which we can not get under control. Both of these we feel would improve in a better climate (uk and wet cold weather does not mix) when we have briefly looked previously it looks like a dead end with regards to healthcare and visas due to the illness, does anyone have any experience with this and can u offer any advice.

    thank u in advance xx

    Hi

I think you would be best advised to consult with a specialist migration agent/lawyer as your enquiry is complex. George Lombard is often mentioned on here and has a good reputation, he will probably charge a fee for his advice but it would save you money in the long run.

    Good luck

    Steve
