  1. I've had a little look and it says ;

This occupation has a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).

So I'd say the fact I have the degree MAY be enough to be skills assessed although it is down to the circumstances given the last sentence.

  2. Unfortunately I don't have an employer..... wouldn't know where to start apart from just contacting the radio stations etc.

I do believe i'd pass the skills assessment ; actually presenting live radio was a big part of my course and it's something I've been doing on a voluntary basis for a few years now.

  3. I graduated with an honours degree in Broadcast Production and for 2 years worked as a Radio Presenter on a voluntary basis. I've been in touch with a few agents ; one who told me the best route would be to retrain, another who wanted £600 to join a work list with the view to getting me permanent (sounded too good to be true) , and another who said WHV but no harm in pursuing the radio Presenter option if it had to arise.

My friends are based in a regional postcode so it would ideally be this regional area I'd prefer to go if I were to get any success out of this.

I've had a look at https://www.acacia-au.com/rsmsol.php where Radio Presenter falls under ; but I believe it's all to do with State Sponsorship etc?

The light is being shone a bit better but I still don't feel fully educated ; I feel this could just be a dead end and my only option is the WHV which is good don't get me wrong, but I'd need to say goodbye at the end of it!

  4. If your looking for somewhere to work and save then your maybe better doing some sort of regional work which you'll need if you want a second year.

Well the good thing about this is the place where my friends stay falls under one of the regional areas :)

It's just getting a job in place that's gonna be the tough part!

  5. that's me spoke with my close friends and family and they all agree it's something I should jump at the chance for.

    im going for it!! :)

only downside is my friends over there don't live in one of the major cities so finding work will be tougher!

    Aiming for a 2016 arrival :)

  6. There's loads of backpacking sites and Facebook pages too if you have a search. Have you booked up for May? If you were to hold off then you could probably manage to do a whv this year. I almost booked a holiday but just decided I'd be better just doing the whv. Holiday costs too much for only a few weeks. Small world then!! I lived in Carluke for a while. Prefer lanark though lol

Yeah im all booked up for May.

there is always plenty of overtime at work so when I get back I can just absolutely power it with the view to go over the following year :)

  7. Yeah everybody gets scared! At least you've been though. So are you planning on end of year then? I'm aiming for September or else I'll need to apply for a new visa. Least your friends will be able to help out with info etc. where in Scotland are you from?

Yeah, that fact I've been helps :) Yeah, ideally aiming for about September next year which seems realistic :)

I'm from Motherwell, just outside of Glasgow

  8. Sounds like a good plan then! You can have a year or 2 to decide wether you want to retrain to move in the future. When are you planning on going? :)

Well I am going back over in May for 6 weeks to visit the friends I have over there so the plan would be to get back and then start saving like mad to get to where I need to be financially!

It's a terrifying prospect don't get me wrong but an exciting one at that.

  9. I'm seriously considering it! I've some friends who live over there and during my time over last year I absolutely loved it!

I'd love to spend alot more time there ; to work and who knows, with a view to hopefully living over there forever.

The last part might be a bit of an ambitious plan but I just love the country.... it's getting the guts to just go for it!

  10. Albury-Wodonga?If you want cheaper airfares,I'd look at end of Autumn (ish)heading into winter,so May/June time?

Yeah, Albury-Wodonga is the place :)! I was definitely looking at just going back again at that time, flights are so much cheaper!!

  11. I was in Albury last May for a month and absolutely loved it so planning on going back next year at some point. Thing is I can't work out when is the best time to go!

i have friends over there so accommodation is not an issue ; when is the best time to go both price wise and weather wise? While May was a bit wet it did have its warm spells and there was still plenty to do and see!

id be flying from Glasgow too if that would make a difference to your advice?

thanks so much in advance :)

  12. As you sound unclear about what paths are open to you it might be worth getting some initial free advice from a registered migration agent to discuss your options? I got some real good information from Go Matilda based upon our circumstances but then decided to go it alone. It can't hurt to understand your options better??

Good luck with whatever you decide to do x

    Thank you so much!

I'm totally clueless with it all really but I've just been in touch with Go Mailta for some advice so we'll see what the outcome of that is :) x

  13. If its on the CSOL one of the only options here is employer sponsorship. To be blunt, the degree will not be any help it would be proven and demonstrated work experience that would win you an interview and an offer of a job.... having never done it, I just done fancy your chances.

Have you ever done it in a voluntary capacity? like hospital radio or anything?

Yeah I'm currently doing hospital radio and done weekly shows on the student radio station at my university for two years too! I just seen it on the list and thought it would ask :)

  14. OK guys, I've came across the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List and a career I could very well fall under (never had a job in it although I am fully qualified with an Honours degree) is included in the list - Radio Presenter! . I'm pretty confused by what it could mean etc.

Could anyone help shine the light a little better for me?

  15. Hey Chelsey!

Hope your working holiday goes well and you have a great time!

I'm exploring options to try and go on my own Working Holiday in the near future too :)

  16. Hello Ryan and welcome to the Forum. Any questions, just ask if you can't find the answer already. WHV is a great idea to give you a starting point.

    Thanks for the welcome :)

Just been reading through the past few hours!

  17. It's an honours Degree in Broadcasting mainly specialising in Radio Production. It was a degree that could have been spun onto specialist Media Studies teaching but I decided not to go down that route :) Going to have a nosey at the whv stuff just now :)

  18. Hello :)!

I think the WHV would be the best option atm as I don't think my current job nor my degree are something which would actually get me anywhere unfortunately which is a shame! Completely clueless atm :o
