Wohoo. Just had email asking for meds, aos and form 80.  We were just saying it was going to be another couple of months or so!  We’ve been given a month to apply for Aos and 70 days for the rest. 😎😎😎😎. Beers tonight in Port Macquarie to celebrate.  Maybe it was lucky being here.

You have made my day!!!! I am one month behind you, maybe we have moved on!!!! Congratulations, please keep us posted.

Come on Immi, please start inviting August,September and October 2015 143 applicants to provide further documents.

Can anyone remember how long we have been stuck on July 15 applications? Just trying to guestimate how much longer before request for medicals and police checks!

Has anyone ever been refused a 2nd 600 visa, when applying from the UK? (Planning to return early May, after being out of the country for 6months).  Did we ever reach any conclusion on the AoS Bond, my agent says that they scrapped the increase.

ASo  those parents who do get a visa for UK are so frail that they can’t look after themselves ? Then they are going to cost the UK taxpayers an enormous amount of money for their care and medical treatment surely??  Australia will not allow any parent in who fails the medical but UK will ? Sounds a bit more of a burden for UK taxpayers.!

Like many here I have already/will be making substantial contributions to the Australian economy via tax and expenditure. My understanding is that the $50000 cost of the visa isn't a figure plucked out of the air, it’s the Australian governments calculation  of the amount paid to Medicare by the average Australian over their working life so parents migrants -( at least those on  contributory visa) will have already paid and will continue to pay into Medicare and will not be allowed anything from Centrelink for 10 years which we are all aware of. This is unlike non contributory parent migrants who don’t pay anything like as much and can claim benefits after only two years. So there is a difference in what parents pay for their future care etc in Australia. All workers  of whichever country have paid tax (and National Insurance in UK) so wherever people live, for the most part we are all subsidising other people and some will end up claiming more than others.

Also don’t forget that people who migrated to Australia years ago could if they so wished, return to the UK and after Three months would be entitled to NHS - without having paid into it for years.

As previously, stated, most people who, apply for this visa have other income.  I too can understand the governments reluctance to supply "Free" healthcare to people have not paid into the system.  Would it not be a better idea to make it a condition of the Visa that, parents maintain private healthcare?  And receive, the appropriate tax relief? OK this would be expensive, but maybe our offspring could chip in in return for Childcare?  This may also reduce the numbers of people applying.

Speaking of Swings and roundabouts, I  have provided Australia with a fully qualified teacher and fully trained Mental health Nurse, most of the children who we are wanting to join have are highly qualified, and University educated, for which we as parents have made sacrifices.  These qualifications, which, have cost the Australian government nothing,  are benefiting the economy. Cake and eat it spring to mind!

Also as Cat Lady says we will be contributing in a variety of other  ways.

Any updates anyone? It seems everything has come to a standstill except the £ - AUD$ ROE which is very favorable right now.

No news, I am a bit in front of you. 3/9/15 have resigned myself that I will be lucky to hear anything before Christmas!

    Hi michaleasmum,

Just a clarification please, Did Immi inform you that you have to wait for 6 months to apply for the new 600 visa, or is it that you are assuming because of the “12 months in 18 months”  rule? I’m asking because my parents’ are facing the same situation as you. Their visa is expiring in November and by then finished their 12 months stay. I remember once reading in some forum that for a new visa you do not need to wait for 6 months. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG. It’s pointless paying the visa fee and then getting rejected. I’m assuming you also have the 8503 condition attached to the visa.

No I did not have the 8503 condition attached to my Visa, my agent told me that it wasn't a given, that I would be able to come back I so decided to apply for an extension, shot myself in the foot.  Will reapply 6 months after I get home.  No news on Police checks etc!

  8. Hi,

Has anyone applied for an extension of a 600 Visa, whilst in Australia, had it refused, then applied whilst back in UK and had it granted?  I have to leave Australia 28/10.

A few evenings ago there was an article on the Project regarding Partner Visas, which are apparently taking 2 years plus to process, I have emailed them explaining the plight of the Parent Visa, if anyone else wanted to do this it may raise our profile????

I lodged my Visa Sept 15 and like everyone else, have heard nothing.

    Thanks

  9. Hi.

I am now 22months into my CPV application, like many others at the time of application I was told it was 18-24months.  My only daughter is expecting her first baby in Jan, so with a view to getting a 600 I booked a one way flight for end of October, thinking this would give me a bit of leeway, before the CPV was granted. Only  to receive the news a couple of days later, that, processing time had gone up to 39months. I will have to rent out my house to finance the time I am unable to work.

I am very confused over the 600, can you apply for an extension, can you apply for a 3 month tourist visa? My son has applied for his 890(?) visa, so chances are he will be there in  Spring 18.  I will have nothing and no one to come back to UK for.

Any commiserations, comments will be gratefully received!

    Thanks

  10. Hi JJ I was thinking I would be out there for Christmas 2017, but, from what I am reading on here, and what my agent has told me - I am not holding my breath!! Sometimes I get very low, but am hoping but by the time the Visa comes through the Dollar rate will have improved.

So I guess we had better get comfy in the waiting room!
