Hello everyone, I am from regional SA applied yesterday for citizenship. What is in interview? How long its taking on SA? And my husband have limited english is there any way he can prepare for test easier. Sorry for many questions in first post. Thanks in advance
Hi, I recently had my interview in NSW. The interview was pretty short. It seemed the main point of the interview is to check some of the paperwork that you included in your application. They asked to look at my drivers license, passport and took a copy of the police check I had to get (because I had spent time outside Australia).
Honestly, I would describe the test as an English test. I suspect people's understanding of English is a large part of what is actually being tested. The questions are fairly straight forward, and if you have read 'Our Common Bond', everything is in there. Your husband can do practice tests online, but I found that the questions they asked were not necessarily linked to the 'Our Common Bond' booklet. ALL of the questions in the actual test were.
These were the sites I used to practice:
1. easydrivingtest.com.au
2. citizenshiptestaustralia.com.au
3. theaustraliantest.com
4. assiecitizenshiptest.com
5. free-australian-citizenship-test.musitrature.com
6. aussian.com
On the upside, he will likely have a couple of months to prepare.

Quick one - do I need to learn the words of the National Anthem off by heart? It's in the testable section but I was just the pits at learning poems or lyrics off by heart in school, so it's giving me flash backs. I can mumble along fairly well, but not a chance of reciting the whole thing under pressure
In my test I was asked for the title of the Anthem. No practice test I tried anywhere had questions on the lyrics. I am also dreadful at memorising them so I didn't try.
Like other posters have said, know the values section, memorise the dates of federation etc. You should be set.
Good luck!

Hey guys, have only ever posted on this site to inform others of timelines as I have found it useful whilst silently browsing these forums.
timeline for citizenship
applied 22 July 2020
test 24/02/21
Approval today on the 08/03/21
if anybody has any idea how to find out dates of ceremonies it would be greatly appreciated; my ceremony will be in the central coast NSW. I took the test in Sydney CBD.
Congratulations.
Can I ask when you received the invitation to the test?
-
Can I ask a (probably silly) question: Do you get an email to invite you to a test or do you have to constantly check your immi account?

Doesn't seem like 5 years ago when i applied for a partner visa, but citizenship application submitted online on 23rd Aug 2020. Looks like i will have quite the wait.
Sydney for me.

Finally got my visa. 8 months 27 days so so so happy. Get to see my man in two weeks. Thank you for all the helpful advice from everyone on here. Celebrating tonight
Brilliant News! Congrats!
-
Looks like no visa this week can stop checking my email every 5 min lol
Oh Boo!
My fingers are still crossed for you.
-
Id LOVE mine before Xmas. Fingers are crossed. Has everyone from March had an approval now then?
Have you tried the 'gentle email' approach?
-
They must be clearing the work before Christmas. Great news everyone!

So after my email to my CO yesterday, and the confusion about my police check this morning, my visa has just been GRANTED!!!!
8 months 9 days and I am delighted!
Thanks to this site for all the help. And good luck to those still waiting.
-
Oh dear that's a bit of a worry. I did not email them my police check but simply added it to my online submission documents once it was completed - can anyone advise if this is the right thing to do - or should I have emailed it to them separately also?
I think you will be fine. I did not have an online application - mine was completed at home and posted off. But the good news is that I have had an email that my CO now has the document. Back to waiting though...
-
I sent off the gentle reminder email yesterday and got a response this morning saying they hadn't received my UK penal check! I had forwarded that at the start of September! Luckily I kept the email and resent it this morning.
I am not holding up much hope for a swift resolution now.

Today I had the call from Australia House and email confirmation that my visa has been granted. 8months 20days. Those still waiting good luck to you all and stay positive as I am sure you will hear very soon.
Congratulations! Great news!

Ronansmyth, just to let you know, we also had RN. As I'm sure you know she doesn't work many hours each week. We received an email at the very end of her work week saying that it's in the final stages of being processed and wanted to confirm that the entry date for the visa is acceptable. We said sure, but it still took another week to receive the visa. We didn't chase it like some people have though given our flights are at the 10.5 mark.
Hi HelloAgain, yeah, I know about her hours. I have tried not to contact her during the wait (other than to send requested info). Seems like you will get yours really soon. How long was it from application to grant for you?
-
My husbands visa was granted today. He got the 100 straight off. 8 months and 18 days for us. We emailed our CO last week as his Police clearance expires at the start of February and received a reply to say that the Visa would be granted this week or next week and true to her word it has arrived just now. We have flights booked for next month, our son has been enrolled in his new school and our boxes are here waiting to be packed so we best get on with it
That is great news! Congratulations!
Who is your CO?
-
my fingers are crossed for us all. Is there still match applicants waiting? It has been hard, I think more so the closer i get lol. I'm gonna email my co in jan if still not granted. I wonder if waiting times increase if your co has a big work load
Who's your co ? Mines WP
I'm going to email mine next week. I suspect she won't bite though. Mine's RN.
-
Someone on another thread said they've been told to expect a grant in February that's there 10th month ahhhh hope mines done by jan. If not I'm going on a tourist visa not seen my man for 13 months now
13 months is such a long time. That must be dreadful! I am lucky that my wife is here with me, but a ten month wait will make things really difficult for me as I have 2 weeks in Melbourne at the start of Jan. I will do the gentle email next week and wish for the best...
We can only hope...

Hi people,Just to let you know, my OH received her 309 visa today. We applied on 4 March 2014 so it took 9 MONTHS AND 6 DAYS. It's not a problem for us as we're currently travelling and booked our mid-January flights back to Melb months ago (with our MoveCube currently on the high seas too).Good luck all!
Congratulations!
Wow - that is one of the longest processing times I have seen! I'm happy that it is working within your travel timescales. Good luck with the move!
-
Been told today that applications are taking closer to 9 months due to high work loads. So mine will more than likely be granted early to mid jan. At least I can relax over Xmas and stop checking emails every 5 min
That's last thing I wanted to hear.... I live in hope
-
My OH is a day ahead of you Ronansmyth - 8 months was up on Sunday. Hoping we hear some good news by the end of next week - hopefully b4 xmas!
I feel like I am checking my emails every two minutes.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!
-
Tomorrow I'd the8 month point for me.... Let the tense wait commence.....
