Hi all, just a brief update into my situation....I am still very keen to emigrate to Oz, I am going down the 190 route. I've had my skills assessment done and now just waiting for the State's new job lists to come out.. With regards to passing the character test I have applied for the subject access and the police record through Acpo to be armed with these for the next stage... Fingers crossed..! Hi all, Hoping I might be able to get some direction / advice :-) Unfortunately in my late teens I managed to get into a fair bit of trouble with the police and ended up being sentenced to 15 months in a youth detention centre. Well, I managed to turn things around, went to Uni and now work with young offenders. So now 17 years later I'm wondering if there is any chance of ever getting a visa to live and work in Oz....? my job is on the consolidated sponsored list. I have read into the character test and I understand that a 'substantial criminal record' is defined by 12 months or more in custody but I've also read about the ministerial discretion which can be applied on appeal. Has anyone succeeded in this process and do you have any advice....? Does anyone know of any lawyers with this expertise..? thanks for your help...
