  1. Hi Neil Just a thought as you mention comp for your 11 year old, did you check out the ages for starting high school as it's a bit later here than uk. My boy is 11 this month but doesn't go to start high school until January 2017. Sure you have it sorted... Bright water school is very is similar to the one my sons are at so here it's very good.
  2. Hi noosa and surrounds are great, can't beat Peregian area for me. Been here 11 years started in Peregian area in a rental and moved 3 times but never left the Peregian area.if you want a mix of hinterland and noosa look at doonan area but don't underestimate the time driving kids around to activities. For me Peregian springs has what we need as family, close to beach, near the shops close to everything. 20 mins to maroochydore, 10 mins to noosa civic, 15 minutes to Noosa. Good luck Wilshere family with your move...probably here now.
  3. Stokie is short for a person from the Stoke area in UK...in case there are any other interpretations!!
  4. Sunny coast it's got to be, why not live where other people. Like to holiday at...beaches, river at Noosa - safer for little ones, local airport for trips to Sydney etc, beautiful hinterland, great markets, live music, good schools- lots of choice of schools if you what to go private. Lived here 10 years my boys 9 and 7 now. Lots of a to do for kids, skate park, beach, biking walking, swimming clubs, soccer etc mine went to a great kindy, lots of activities and play groups too. Don't know about Mackay..check kids on the coast website for kids activities etc round the sunny coast.
  5. we are sunny coast now originally derby/staffs border.. duck....no I don't say duck still but my mum does...use to go shopping in Hanley occasionally. A friend of mine had some mates who were stokies and they moved to brisbane... Long shot here... Do you know Sue and Dave in SA... Just along shot...
  6. hi thanks for the response. I am in Aus been here 10 years left CS. I have asked a pension transfer company to pull together some options before I saw threads Last couple of day this Will aid my further planning. This bit of the advice is free so didnt figure I had a lot to lose. I believe from what Andy says the company will get the valuation and come up with some options. I am planning ahead too as the next few years will fly by and I'll be retired ... Well 10 ish years to go still. Dont mind sharing on PM some data either if it helps, sounds each case is different lots of variables. Cheers bee
  7. Hi Andy Thanks for the reply. I am in Australia been here 10 years.i am using Pension Transfers Direct, got on to them just before I saw this post. I am aware there will be tax implications if we proceed as we are outside the 6 months tax free period. I will be interested to see how a QROPS scheme is projected to grow versus a final salary scheme and what fees are incurred with a QROPS over its life. Also aware on 11 June in UK the pension transfer situation being reviewed and things may change quickly, we may of missed the boat but you can but try! There are may things to consider in any decision as you note. Are you able to get 2 sets of advice simultaneously I wonder, can I PM you regards our situation. kind regards bee
