Hi all I am new on the forum and have a question.
I have lived in Aus for over 5 years and have recently applied for my Australian Citizenship. However, I am concerned whether I will have some issues and a few years ago I recieved a infringement notice for being drunk. Basically I was at a party and I feel asleep on some steps outside a take away foot outlet, cops came a long and put me in the drunk tank for four hours and issued me with an infringement notice (this was in Melbourne). Please note that this was not a conviction and I paid the fine in full (treated the same as a tarffic ticket). This has not come up on subsequent police checks either (I was told it wouldnt, thank goodness).
However, I am concerned will immigration know about this. I have been invited a long next week to immigration to do some kind of test and am concerned whether they would cancel my permanent resideny over this, as I have heard horror stories before. Would of I been better to of stayed on my permament rresidency and not applied for citizenship. Anyone who can offer and advice please do.
Thank you:)
