Does your educational qualifications still count towards the point test if its not related to the field of work selected? For example If I was applying for a 189 visa and I chose cabinet maker as the occupation, does a bachelor degree in Arts still give me 15 points even though it isn't related to cabinet making? Hey guys, A mate of mine is planning to come to Australia from India as a cabinet maker . I've researched a bit into this and found he needs to have his skills assessed through the offshore skills assessment program - which can be provided by VETASSESS. I've gone through the VETASSESS webpage and saw that its a two stage process. 1 - gather all evidence of work and then 2 - either a technical interview or a practical assessment. I've searched all through Vetasses and cant find where the second part of the process takes place. There seems to be no vetasses centre in India. Can anyone clarify where these interviews or practical assessments take place? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply mate, since you like short answers please say "1" for Yes you can hold two visas "2" for Yes your visa gets cancelled "3" for Yes you can hold two visas at the same time or "4" yes you cant hold two visas at the same time

Hi all, If someone held a visa (lets say student visa) and applied for another visa (some kind of permanent) and they are granted the second visa - does the first one (student visa) automatically get cancelled? You cant possibly hold two visas can you? Cheers, Kane

From what I understand for a 189 visa you nominate an occupation from the Skilled Occupation List and for a 190 visa (state sponsored) you nominate one from the consolidated skilled occupation list is this right? Cheers Kane

Hi there, Scenario - Lets say I hold a temporary substantive visa and its due to expire tomorrow. If I apply for another substantive visa today will I be given a BVA? Do you still qualify for a bridging visa if your new visa application is given a day before your visa expires? Cheers Kane

I know that there is a 5 year limitation on people who have been sponsored as a partner to be able to re-sponsor someone else again (1.20J) but does this apply to secondary applicants as well? For example George sponsors Mary on a partner visa. Mary also includes Sarah (her daughter) on the application. Is Sarah also barred from sponsoring someone for 5 years?
