  1. ....although it's worth pointing out that because Randwick is "not very pretty", rental accommodation there is noticeably cheaper than any of the other suburbs you mention, so she'll get a much nicer flat for her money. As the OP is someone moving permanently, I'd say spending the first six months in a nice flat that's close to work is a good way to start, she can then take her time to look for the right long-term rental in other suburbs if she likes them better.

Thank you for your input!! I agree, I would prefer living somewhere a little cheaper to begin with and closer to work :)

  2. Randwick is going to be close to work ... but doesnt have alot of atmosphere / not very pretty. I'd suggest Coogee or Bronte if your looking for something close to the hospital (both closer to beach).

You should also think about other areas in the Eastern Suburbs like: Paddington, Rushcutters Bay, Darlinghurst, Elizabeth Bay ... these have heaps of things to see and do (much nicer than Randwick) ... and not too far from Prince of Wales hospital by bus.

Thank you for your advice. I will definitely look around the suburbs you have mentioned.

  3. I second Randwick. A good place with lots of houseshares, because of the proximity of Uni (of NSW) and hospital. It's a really good location - good transport, good vibe, lots of facilities, loads of open space nearby. Also look in surrounding neighborhoods

Thank you. Can't wait to get out there and explore :)

  4. Sounds like Randwick has everything I would want! Although there doesn't seem to have many shared houses for rent available. Do you know of any good websites for looking for places to rent? I've been looking on gum tree. I thought it would be better to share initially to get to know people.

  5. Randwick. You can walk to work and buses into the city. Lots of restaurants and close to beach. Why commute when you don't have to?

I was thinking about Randwick but I've not visited the area before. It would be great live close to the beach too. Thanks :)

  6. Hi everyone,

I'm moving to Sydney in May/June this year. I hope to be working at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick. Which suburbs are good to live in? I'm 32 and single and hoping to house share initially.

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

  7. Hi everyone,

Does anyone know which airline provides more than 30k luggage allowance. I'm travelling from uk to Oz in the next couple of months. I'm planning on taking two large suitcases plus hand luggage. Thanks in advance :)

  8. Fantastic news! My visa has been granted :)

Thanks for all your help and support, especially to #CaptainC

    Good luck to everyone! :)

  9. If I remember the question correctly you were given the choice of "whether you have old passport details or not." I still had my old passport which had my WHV from 10 years ago so I put it in. I don't believe it would have made any difference if I had left it out.

I was filling out the wrong form, version 2013. The 2015 version makes more sense! Thanks.

  10. Update. Received an email this morning. Got super excited. They asked for police clearance - already provided. A form of ID for my ex for custody rules- miserable git likes to live "off grid" so doesn't have any. This was clearly written on the form

My heart sank. Is it possible to remove documents from the immi account?

I'm pretty sure you can't remove documents once uploaded. I'm not sure what to suggest.

  11. Yes, make form 80 into one document. Adobe Acrobat Pro is available on a free 30 day trial and is quite handy and easy to use. Just make sure that the file size is not more than 5MB.

You don't have to upload your CV but it is generally accepted as being a good idea to do so.

I have converted Form 80 into a PDF, How do you go about signing the form without having to print the document??

  12. There has been a new way of asking for docs since the New Year, where as soon as a CO is assigned you get an automated request to submit extra docs. For us, they asked me for employment references though we submitted P60s and employment letters and also asked for form 80 and birth certificates. The request also included medicals but since we already did our medicals before it stated as completed in the request

So its all strange and new with this blanket request to everyone and the system including request for medicals but automatically putting a statement in the request and telling us to ignore this if we have completed the medical test.

If you have had the same request come through and not been asked for Form 80 then great, but if I were you, I would still fill form 80 and front load the docs so there is no chance whatsoever to lose any time down the line. You may not be asked for it, but 99% of the people are asked and its a gamble TO either save a few hours and only fill it when asked OR invest the 2 hours and save weeks if they later ask for Form 80

    All the best!

    KnK

    Great advice! Thank you :)

  13. Saving the application shold not remove it unless you accidentally deleted it which I am not sure if possible. Once you paid for it then it will allow you to attach docs. As for Form 80, you can actually search for it in the site - I suggest prepare for it so it would be easy when you start uploading docs and not to wait for case officer to ask for it (18 pages to fill up).

Hi, with regards to Form 80, I have completed it incase I was asked for it. Am I best to wait till a case officer asks for it? I have already heard back from a case officer requesting for my medical to be completed, no other documents were requested. Thanks in advance.
