  1. Ah so u can't apply for PR after graduating? This is where I have got muddled up with reading the other nursing threads. Age is a factor here haha! If it was just after graduating if I push it through super fast and plan ahead gathering all the uni evidence as I go along I may just get a invite to apply before my 33rd birthday so at 32 could came the extra 10 points I think it is...

So is it a 457 sponsored visa after grad with getting a job offer within Australia (so no qualified work experiance)

Or wait further 3 years after grad then apply for 189 PR visa? That will be taking me upto around 35-36 years old and my girls 10-11 and 6-7 years old. Hmm this will take some thinking then closer to the time of graduation...

    X

  2. Snap... I have always wanted to be a nurse but with a house, husband, two children and a dog to look after thought it impossible...

But we're desperate to move to Australia and of course this is the driving factor so will have to suck it up (the financial implications) and go for it. If Nursing gets taken off the lists then I guess it's no biggy because I will be finally getting to do something I have wanted to do in a long while....its just going to take me 4 years ?

  3. Hi

I am no expert but someone told me that you will need to provide some sort of proof for each year claimed and you can contact HMRC and order a copy of a p60 and you can order statements of your NI paid too which could back up the paid employment I guess you'll also need a written statement from your employer confirming the total employment period.

Someone will be along to clarify this in case I am wrong.

    All the best xx

  4. Just a quick update to this thread. So its looking like we're going to complete the AQF 3 cert with Australian Skills Assessments (however in discussions whether the best one would be solid or fibrous plastering) then we know it's TRA and Ielts before EOI and then application once we have a invitation, Medicals/police checks and everything crossed a visa processed ?

We just need to secure a visa agent now because of the above misinformation we will of course not be using this company. Anyone recommend a company for us?

    Thank you

  5. The statement would be from the employer(subbie),or customer if he's done private work,in an ideal world i suppose it would be better if his statements covered a good number of years, but if you cant do that then hopefully recent work statements will do.

I didn't provide a statement for "each job" completed, more a statement detailing what i done over the "period" i was employed by each subbie, the different type of materials used, whether it was on houses, civils(railway engineering works),commercial etc etc

It "is" a big ask to get subbies to do this,it cost me months waiting tbh, thats why ive suggested you get the company's letter heads, fill it in yourself in the statement format, then get them to sign it and state their company position.

I think i provided about 5 employer(subbie)statements, going back about 10 years or so

If you can get statements from 2 or 3 directors then i would do it,they would be relevant i'm sure

I only provided "one" statement "myself",that covered from my apprenticeship to present day, again, with the details you want the employer to state, type of work done, materials used, sort of a summary of what i'd done over the years.

Dont think i sent NI contributions, just tax returns and the letter from my accountant

Dont forget,i done exactly what the agent told me to do to get the visa,so for all i know, the agent could have been ott with what he wanted me to provide TRA,for all i know i could have gained trades recognition with less details? ,i'll never know

I just thought "i'm paying him for advice so i better do as he wants",so i provided lots of detail, others on here might tell you that they got trades recognition by providing much less detail

    I used CONCEPT AUSTRALIA in Manchester,Steve and Martin,excellent service,staged payments,think its £1700 now

You're not rambling at all btw,it a big worry trying to make sure you have everything right

Gosh yes its a huge worry because if it was wrong and they said no ? not only is it a lot of money down the pan but I have been wanting to move to Australia for 6 years it's taken me this long to get my husband to agree ?

Thanks for all of the above so you say to save time to get husband to fill it out on letterheaded paper and get them to sign...maybe stupid question but are we talking pen and paper or printed? ?

Also husband is slightly different because even though he's self employed and a subcontractor for this company he's worked there 5 days a week every week for 9 years (apart from the annual 4 weeks holiday) so who would he get to do some statements for him the employer or the customer he went too? I mean going back I am sure in his work history they could pull some up but wouldn't have any photo or video evidence of this of course.

I will have a look at concept Australia thanks

  6. For TRA i provided tax returns and a letter from my accountant confirming how long i'd been s/employed,"if" you're talking about evidence as in references etc,my agent used to emphasise that it wasn't a reference type letter i needed from previous employers(subbies),like "Pablo turns up on time, doesn't have a day off" etc etc

It was a "statement" he said i needed, giving details of materials used, bricks and blocks used, bond used, type of pointing used etc ,i just gave loads of detail about the different types of bricklaying i'd done, domestic, civils, commercial,i was also told to list tools used on every statement, and make sure the person signing the statement stated their position in the company

My agent might have been a bit ott about the statement's,i dont know, but it worked anyway

Some people have hassle getting subbies to sort the statements,so its an idea to ask for letter headed paper from the subbies, complete the statement yourself and get them to sign and confirm

    Hi

Many thanks for your information. And yes statement I assumed it was just a hello yes this person came here did a wonderful job etc. Haha!! so this statement that is including all the above materials used tools used etc is it from my husband or from the customer/employer? Because getting a customer/employer to go into that much detail is a big ask well for a customer anyway employer not too bad. And historically do these need to go back because he doesn't have this would current jobs he's doing now suffice and how many jobs will he need to show? so in theory he for example would provide details of a job he's done with the following:

    Photos/videos

    Customer/employer reference

A statement from husband about the job ie what he did tools and material he used

Would that then conclude enough evidence for one job? So maybe do 3 jobs? Then wage slips, tax return statements, NI statements

My husband can get references from the Directors at 2 maybe 3 big building companies in the UK... here they would be recognised straight away wondering if they will have any relevance for TRA and whether it would make a good Impression I heard that the information you give them has to be decision ready so the more the better.

What agent did u use? We still need to get a agent.

    Sorry for rambling ?

  7. Hi

We have finally decided to go for the visa 189 application and to plough ahead with it now in the hope that were well on our way before any potential changes may be made in July as husbands trade is on the flagged list ? (Thank you for everyone who has helped us so far) we know my husband needs to do a AQF Cert 3 Solid Plasterer first so we're starting this, this week and are ok now on the evidence required there however we would like to know what exact evidence is required for the TRA assessment as we really want to try and get this sent over by the end of February beginning of March because of the estimated 8-12 week potential wait for an outcome. I really don't want to get this wrong so I need all the evidence to be spot on. So any ideas of what is needed and how much of each evidence required? Ie my husband is claiming 9 years employment so does he need wage slips for the whole of this period?? Because firstly he was paid weekly therefore 52 wage slips x 9 is a whole LOT of play slips haha! Or is the yearly tax return suitable?? We would have to look in our loft but I don't know whether we have anything further back than 6 years which is the legal requirements (he's self employed but was a subcontractor for this company for the whole period above) so what would we do in this instance?

    Thank you

  8. Hi Al thanks for this. Just spoke to someone who's in the know and he's said that it wouldn't likely come off but it may get moved from Sol to is it Col? Basically just making the visa process a little bit trickier as you would need state or employer sponsorship instead of a 189 visa....I think.

We're hoping at getting the EOI in well before July so hoping that we should get a invite to apply then I think we would be OK then x

  9. Hi Al.

Could you confirm which occupations are on the list? Please tell me it isn't solid plastering? We're lookin into this and about to start the AQF process if we can manage to figure out the particulars. I guess if u get invite to apply before it goes off this list your OK to get your visa still? Ie better off getting on with it now x

  10. Hi shazza

Ah so your quite far ahead then so u have CO allocated? Wow wish we were at that stage already seems a lifetime away if we get that far.

My husband has am employer to verify a training (appreentice) type 3 years at the beginning of the 9 years of experience and can get various references from directors at 3 big building company's

He will still need to go through tra but I guess it will be pretty much same evidence plus wage slips etc that he will need for tra. Would u mind PM me more info on the evidence side? We're going it alone at the moment and still at a loss as to what needs to be seen. Everything start to finish, different types of plaster used in doors and out doors and videos?? It's very overwhelming xx

  11. Ahh thats great. Husband doesn't have any qualifications but 9 years experience in the trade so he has to go through the AQF with Australian skills assessment .com.au were just in the process of evidence gathering. But its interesting that you mention nvq level 2 because I asked if it was/worth doing prior to application but was told it would be irrelvant for Australia.

So are you at the EOI stage then? Would u mind if you give more info on the solid plastering job description? Because my husband isn't college taught he's getting himself into a bit of a frazzle about what they are looking at skills wise and is if completely different than UK? Also how much evidence do they need and is it shot by shot of each stage? I told him more the better really.

    X

my partner to is solid plasterer. what nvq does he have. My partner has nvq level 2 and EVERYONE told us we had to do an aqf and that nvq level 2 wasn't enough. But we contacted TRA and they said we was eligible. So we lodged TRA- came back successful.
  12. What trade is your husband in? Mine is solid plastering so he needs do do AQF cert then go through TRA assessment. I want to do this asap but husband wants to wait until we come back from pre booked holiday in June also to save some/more money but its taken me 4 months too get him from a 75\25% in for Australia to 100% in so don't want to pressurise him however is the $ looking like its/going to have a good rise then? That would be favourable for visa purposes but also for us because we have a good equity to bring with us so we can get a comfortable mortgage in oz but also he doesn't have to work all the hours under the sun like he does now....which is one of the many reasons we have decided to go for it...you only live once eh :-)

    Hey,

We are aiming to move early 2015 too and are looking at Perth and Adelaide. We are just waiting for hubby's skills assessment to come back.. Like you we have a pet that cant come (a house bunny, so he is not even allowed :( ). He is 7 this year, so it is so hard. Don't want to leave him, but desperate to go. My parents have offered to have him if it gets to that point, but i would feel like such a lousy owner :(

    xx

  13. Hi

We're in the very early process (evidence collecting ready for AQF cert assessment for my husbands trade) but all in all I have worked out roughly middle of 2015 as a guide either being the permanent move or just activating the visa because our dog will be 9 then so too old for the move so will not leave him and can't take him.

We're looking at Perth as have friends over there so we will have a comfort blanket as such haha.

I just so wish I went to sleep and woke up and it's the day we leave to start our new life in Australia (sigh) xx

  14. I am nowhere near this part yet but I have been considering this too so replying so I can keep this thread on my feed but can't offer any help sorry.

I am just gathering prices for everything so we know what to expect for the move itself and pay for as much of it from savings as we can.

  15. Hi Adam

Were definitely going to go through an agent however it was/a agent in question who quoted vetassess too me as the avenue that he has to go down to obtain qualification which now doesn't seem to be the case in all fairness when I went onto vetassess I couldn't find anything there in regards too solid plastering but then I thought that agent couldn't of been wrong.

Even though he's self employed he's always been subcontracted to a company 5 days a week every week for this/period and I actually forgot to say that they have taken him on through the books (his request) as of the 6th January 2014 so will have weekly payslips for this duration to back this up so they would be able too provide him with statements of work he's done etc.

So I feel a/bit more clearer on the whole process than I did this morning so thank you all for your advise

Yes exactly, you have to research and make sure of everything first before embarking on an expensive journey. To be quite honest if you're saying you find it very complicated or initially thought the assessment was through Vetassess I would suggest consulting with an agent or at the very least continuing your research before moving forwards. A few pointers:

-There's a few different RTOs that offer qualifications through an RPL assessment. It's worth looking around.

-I can't see anywhere that you've said he doesn't have recent work experience but Ryan is correct it is a TRA requirement to have worked at least 12 out of the prior 36 months.

-Yes your partner will need to undergo an IELTS test (for points purposes). He needs to get a decent score so I would search for practice tests and study for it.

-I don't like to generalise but I'm sure you're aware that self-employed tradesmen can be a nightmare when it comes to keeping documents. Have a read through the TRA guidelines regarding the evidence needed to prove periods of self-employment and make sure he's got enough to cover it.

    All the best,

  16. He's been in the same job for 9 years so won't have any problem with the TRA requirement then just need to make sure everything Is done in the correct order.

    Thanks again

Hey......yes unfortunately you was advised incorrectly. BUT at least you have been prevented from spending money in the wrong places. This is the main problem; it's your husband not having any work experience in the last 36 months. He can do Master Builders which is about $2995 and achieve an AQF Lv.3 but TRA will still require at least 12 out of the last 36 months. So if he can try and get some work experience back in his trade that would be a good start.

I'm really sorry that you had to go through this, but you would have thought everything was fine and lost out emotionally and financially. At least now you know what needs to be done.

  17. Hi Adam

Yes this is where we're at a stumbling block because we don't know enough about the process to sign on the dotted line as it's a lot of money to loose. And it's ok I appreciate your honesty. If u didn't mind though I can tell you a bit about husbands background?

He's English and I am Welsh and we have 2 young children. He's been in his trade for 9 years and up until beginning of this year self employed but contracted too the same company Monday to Friday for this whole time but now he's been taken on at his request. He has no formal qualification and can do all sorts of things (tiling/painting etc) but we are focusing on the plastering for this purpose (and the 20 hours a week rule) we would sell our house and have equity of around 80k to take with us. He is 33 years old and speaks fluent English no other language so wasn't sure if he would needs to do ielts or not and I am 27 years old and kids (49yrs and 6 months old) I think that about covers that history part.

Our concerns are we don't want to pay agent and the fees for him to go through too a company to gain this AQF 111 (I have been trawling the forums and have heard about http://www.australianskillsassessments.com.au as the place where u can pay to do this and then from there you can apply for a skills assessment through TRA right??) And it to be the wrong thing the visa gets thrown out and we have wasted thousands of pounds....This is why I am trying to research it a bit beforehand....as much as I can really it's very complicated.

    Th

The TRA skills assessment is mandatory and to obtain a positive assessment he would need to have a recognised qualification (or formal apprenticeship). He could obtain a qualification through the RPL process as described, but it can be costly.

I don't have any other details regarding your situation to be able to make an assessment on the other aspects or your overall chances of visa success.

I'm not in the business of crushing dreams! Sorry if it came across as overly negative. I'm just trying to point out that you need to ensure you have a good understanding of the requirements and your chances of success before throwing a few thousand pounds into this first stage. It's a lot of time/money to invest.

    All the best,

  18. Hi Adam

So does this mean that my husband wouldn't qualify for a 190 visa? Or that he would but it would be a longer more costly process than if he were to of had a UK qualification already but it's still possible?

Our dreams have just been crushed if so  but thank so so much for your information.

While it's correct that applying through the Vetassess Offshore Skills Assessment program does provide the applicant with an Australian qualification, Solid Plasterer is not one of the trades that is accepted in this program.

There are Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) services in place that will issue Australian qualifications based upon previous experience. With the qualification obtained the correct skills assessing authority would then be TRA as pointed out above. Please note that RPL programs and the skills assessment are extremely costly and time intensive. For your own benefit please make sure that you're aware of the requirements for this and any later visa application before starting the process. If you have been incorrectly advised about the assessment you may have received incorrect advice regarding other aspects as well.

    All the best,
