    Hi All

Bit a last minute question, We have our Interview on 07/02/2019, and can't locate the original form 1195 and photo's. Is this a serious show stopper? and if so is there anything we can do, like get new forms/photos signed?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest arranging new ID photo and new form 1195 to be signed by one of your qualified friends who is belonging to specific occupation.

Thanks for this...still waiting for my ceremony invitation, hoping it’s early in the new year as my mum will be visiting and she’d love to be here for it. Congratulations to you and all the best for your ceremony!

@redheaven i think you could call your council and make inquiry to see if you are on the list for australia day citizenship ceremony. are you in sydney or in brisbane ?

21st month since application, and approximately 18 months since 100% test and no approval yet.

"Loved" last conversation with immi, "You are still within timeframe...".

90% of applications processed in 20 months .. i think you can contact local MP and raise up complaint.

Hi, Just hope they get his signature sorted and certificates printed ASAP.  We did not enrol to vote, we expected to do this on the night but were told that the forms would be sent out along with our certificates.  I assume you need the certificate details to enrol.  Fingers crossed they sort it soon as we need to apply for our passports.  I have contacted the council as requested on the night, i will see what they say.

    same thing in Burwood NSW.

No certificate for ceremony in August 23.

Had our ceremony tonight. No certificates available as need to be signed by new minister who hasn’t been sworn in yet. Apparently they will be posted out to us.

The council rep said we should e mail her tomorrow as we need to apply for passports for travel soon. She did say she could try to get our certificates or at least the numbers to us ASAP.

    @rammygirl...

you may refer to this news - https://www.liberal.org.au/member/david-coleman

David Coleman was sworn in as the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs on 28 August 2018.

I think you may call 131 880 to ask the status of your certificate ..

also, did you enroll to vote with Australian Electoral Commission before ceremony ?

With regards to the processing times quoted on the immigration website. Should we be referring our applications against the processing times at the time of submittal (10 - 14 months for me back in June 2017) or to the current processing times (14-17 months). The reason I ask is that I called to query when my ceremony date would be and they said I was still under the current processing times. I am now post 14 months which is more than the processing times at the time when I first received confirmation of receiving my application.

    @rorz,

for citizenship ceremonies held by council of northern beach there will be 3 ones till year end. do you think there's many immigrant in your council ?

The article says the Government may introduce the bill into the parliament before 1st July 2018. But, by going through different news, I think parliament next sitting will be about energy bill rather than citizenship. But I may be wrong on this.

yes, they only have 4 parliament sitting days (June 25 - 28) before 1st July 2018...we will see

One friend of mine was advised by their migration agent that it will come into effect next year. But I am not sure what is the basis.

maybe your friend's migration agent has people connection in DHA but what we can confirm is DHA has not submitted the proposed bill into Parliament yet.

    Hi Whtzau,

I am in a similar situation now. My wife and I are OZ Permanent residents. Our son is born overseas just a couple of months back. We have applied for subclass 101 (which is a paper application at the local VFS in India). If I bring him to Australia on Visitor VISA, is he eligible to apply for a medicare? I went to medicare and they said they do not know. They couldnt answer as they are not sure if SC 101 is considered to be a PR application. Please share your experience as you were facing similar situation a few years ago. Thank you.

    Regards,

    JaiK

    Hi JaiK,

check page 2 of "Medicare enrolment form"

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&ved=0ahUKEwiD9dDqspbbAhXFlZQKHYLhAGUQFghAMAI&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.humanservices.gov.au%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2F2018%2F02%2Fms004-1802en-f.pdf&usg=AOvVaw2EAmKxA89oMEskWRSsCO3I

I 100% confirm that you son is eligible for medicare as long as VFS in India already issued "Acknowledgement letter"

Once you take your son to Australia with visitor visa , take him to nearest Medicare and request talking to supervisor.

Have applied for permanent residency/permanent (sublcass 101)
    protection visa
    For each person provide:
    • a current passport or immicard, and
    • confirmation that an application for permanent residency has been lodged with the Department of Home Affairs, and
    a valid visa. (Visitor visa)

If your visa (visor visa) does not allow you to work in Australia, you must prove you have a relationship
with your: PARENT, spouse, de facto, or your child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident
or a New Zealand citizen living in Australia.
