  1. Looking for some advice.

We have a relative staying with us (British Citizen), but lives in South Africa. She came into Australia on an ETA which is now nearing expiry. She is unable to return back to South Africa due to the travel restrictions.

What should we be doing to extend her stay lawfully?

  2. Hi guys, I'm starting to become impatient with my application.

I got 75 points after completing the IELTS, and was always under the impression that the more points would expedite the application (at least my agent told me so).

Anyway, I submitted an EOI on 28/04/14 and received an invitation to apply on 12/05/14.

My agent submitted the application on 16/05/14, but after contacting him last week he said it could take 3 months to get a case officer assigned.

    Am I been paranoid?

Is anyone else waiting the same length of time as me?

I could be wrong, but I think points only help you with the invitation. Once you've got an invitation and apply, then I'm not so sure that points play a role at all.

I know of a couple people waiting longer than you. It does appear to me that applications with agents are taking longer, which is very strange. I've got a very small sample size though.

Hang in there! I hope you hear back soon!

  3. Congrats well done to you

Thanks Dannielle24. I really hope you get your grant soon.

This isn't really the thread for it, but I really think you should get to the bottom of why yours is taking so long. Do you have all of the important numbers so you can query Immi yourself? I'm not clear on the specifics of your application, but if it was me, I'd be very upset with my agent because it simply doesn't make any sense that your application is taking so long. Or you must be very unlucky and they are doing some complex referral process.

  4. Big Big Congratulation!!! Your timeline showed that you've got it about 1month after lodging, rite? That's great.

Yes. I got the grant just over a month after lodging. It went much faster than I expected. I am very lucky. I expected to wait at least another month.

  5. Hi all,

Just wondering what everyone else experienced with regard to ACS assessing their skills? I've been waiting 4 weeks thus far. I know it says 12 weeks but I (hoped) thought this was just a conservative estimate.

Anyone else share how long their assessment took with ACS? Waiting is killing me! I don't want to/can't submit EOI until I get the result through.

Nope. That isn't conservative at the moment. You can see in my timeline it basically took 12 weeks for me to get my results.

  6. Guys, in my case (check the timeline below), CO asked for medicals and pcc on the day of allocation itself (which I sent on the same day) and it's been more than 10 days since then. I haven't heard from CO. CO hasn't asked for Form 80 either. Just no communication! Any opinions? Thanks.

    Category: 261112 | Visa: 189 | 65 points | IELTS Overall: 7.5 (L: 7.5, R: 7, W: 7, S: 7.5) | EOI submitted: 6th Oct, 2013 | Invite: 23rd Mar, 2014 | Visa Lodged: 14th May, 2014 | PCC (U.S., India): 19th May, 2014 | Medicals: 31st May, 2014 | CO Allocation: 3rd June, 2014 | Grant: ??

Not sure, but I've heard reports that the CO will only check things once the 28 day time limit has elapsed. So 28 days after the information request, they will look into your case again. I'm in the same position. The wait is a bit frustrating.

I'll be able to tell you in a few days, because I was asked to for PCC and Medicals on 20 May. Which means the 28 day expiry for me will be this week.

  7. Seems to vary massively from what I can tell. Some poor folk like @Dannielle24 have submitted everything upfront and have been waiting months without even knowing if they've got a Case Office.

I'm in a similar situation to you @dangargoyle. My CO requested PCC and Medicals on 20 May. My PCC was uploaded 2 June and my medicals were uploaded 9 June.

Now we wait. Apparently, the CO only looks at the documents after the 28 day deadline. So I don't expect to hear anything until 17 June earliest which is roughly 28 days from when the CO requested the documents.

  8. Uploaded my medicals 09 June. So now everything that CO asked for is uploaded. Now the wait!

    @Robbouk

    1. I wasn't asked for Form 80 either. It is discretionary. They could still ask for it, but I'm hoping that in my case they don't.

    3. I would only upload any proof you used for ACS and the qualifications you are claiming points for. I did not upload any of my junior qualifications. Only my degree which I used in ACS and which I claimed points for.

  9. I completed my Medicals on 31 May. I phoned the hospital today to find out when they would be uploaded to ImmiAccount. Apparently, they have already been uploaded on 6 June.

I can't see this when I login to ImmiAccount. Is this normal or does it take a few days for them to show up? Or should I be worried that something has gone linked up properly?

  10. I expect that we'll be getting news of any changes by mid-June, but this is purely my guess. They can't really bring changes into effect without giving a bit of a heads up to all of the migration agents and potential applicants. But then again, they can!

If there isn't any rush, wait a couple of days. If you get some news, then maybe you can start planning a bit earlier.

  11. Generally, the update comes into effect 1 July every year. So it looks like 1 July 2014.

However, I think that any changes will be announced a bit before then, but they will take effect from 1 July.

    My 2 cents:

At this stage, unless the processing time for CPA is very quick, holding off until you hear about any changes makes sense. Otherwise you won't get an EOI submitted in time.

  12. Hi Everyone,

I don't know if we have made the May Gang but we Lodged our 189 visa application today - all documents hopefully uploaded correctly. We have front loaded our health examination & police checks.

    Good luck everyone

You've lodged in May, so of course you've made it! Welcome to the club! Good luck!

  13. Hello Guys,

I need some suggestions. I am applying for 189 along with 2 dependents. Is it advisable to drop my dependents in the application, just apply for myself first, look for a job and then later on when everything gets sorted out, i can process for my family visa ?

Alternatively , i have to bear all the cost now ( visa + initial entry , etc).

    What do you guys think?

@alimansoor I think this is probably off-topic for this thread. I think you should create a new thread for this type of question or look in the archives if it has been asked before.

  14. Case officer already well done, we have front loaded documents are it's been 8 weeks since lodgement still haven't heard a thing!

Well, I don't think it has anything to do with me. I guess it is random? I've got no idea really.

I was watching your progress in the other thread Dannielle24 and I saw how long it was taking for the March and April gangs, so I presumed I would have a similar wait. I didn't front load everything, so maybe it all equals out in the end because I need to arrange medicals and police clearance which takes a week or 2.

8 weeks is very long for you to wait without hearing anything. I hope they've not lost your application or anything? When are you allowed to question if things are going ok? I hope you hear something soon.
