My wife is applying for citizenship by decent and we have been told that our 7 year old daughter would also qualify. Is this not correct?

Hi all We are moving to Melbourne in the near future My wife and Daughter are applying for citizenship by descent. When they have got this through I have been told I can get in to the country before them on a spouse visa. Can anybody tell me whether I would be eligible for work on this visa? My wife and daughter plan to join me when our house is sold but I need to be out there first and get working to get a house over there and get settled a bit before they will come. Thanks Richard
