  1. You can renew your travel facility by applying for a resident return visa.  As long as when you apply for the RRV you have been in Australia for at least 2 full years in the previous 5 years, you will have it approved no problem.

When you renews your travel facility (which it sounds like you can do immediately with an RRV application because you have been in Australia for 5+years) you will then have another 5 years of free travel too and from Australia.  And as Marisawright says also, your permanent residency is permanent.

The downside with citizenship for you right now is the processing time is usually 12-24 months. and you have to be in Australia when it is granted, or so i belive.

  2. Hi People,

I have  question around taking children to Australia.

My partner and I emigrated to Australia on a permanent resident visa subclass 189 in 2015., We then returned to the UK to live in 2019 and have been in the UK ever since  Last year (2020) we renewed our travel facility on our permanent residency visa to allow us to return to Australia soon.  While back in the UK we have had our fist child :).

My wife has recently been offered a job in Australia with a start date on Feb 2022.  Our son is not a permanent resident of Australia however, we don't have the time to apply and wait for the application to be processed.  A friend of ours previously emigrated to Australia with their child and while they had residency, they got their child into the country on a holiday visa and then applied for his residency while in Australia. My concern with this approach is that with a holiday visa, wont Australian authorities want to see and exit flight booked.

Anyway any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  3. Hi Expatriate123,

Paul is right, we met the resident requirements so the application was very straightforward.

I think the best option would be to speak to a migration agent.  We used one for our initial migration to Australia and they took all of the confusion and uncertainty away. Definitely worth the additional costs.

    Thanks

    Josh

  4. Hi Guys,

Hoping for some assistance. has anyone lodged and RRV using the online application process.  I have filled mine and my wife's out to the point where they are 'Ready to submit' however I have not been able to (no option) to attach our passports (or any documents).

    Can anyone offer any advice?

    Thanks

    Josh

  5. Hi

Does anyone know of there is a limit to how many RRV's someone can get. For example if a person got an RRV can they apply again in 5 years for another RRV or do they need to attain citenzenship?

    Thanks in advance
