  1. Bugger! I really wanted that to be wrong! I'm doing the application but the inlaws are 'being helpful' by getting their medicals and police checks done early. I told them not to do so until they had a case officer (which based on queue information is still 8 months ish away). Luckily(?) it looks as though there are going to be complications with the mother in laws medical so I'll get them to go as slow as possible providing the extra information required and they'll have to get another police check once the case officer is assigned. Otherwise they are going to have very little time to validate the visa. Bit annoying they should make that far clearer at the outset but is one of many flaws to the system I'd say! Thanks for your help guys.
  2. Hi all. Currently trying to get the outlaws through the 143 visa process. I was looking online to try and find advice regarding the timings of the medicals and police checks. I came across what appears to be quite a helpful guide for those wanting to apply for a 143 visa. Before i posted it on here I wanted to check if a couple of points were correct. In the guide he states that the medical and police checks still need to be valid (eg done in the last 12 months) on the day the visa is 'activated' in australia. Personally, I thought that as long as your police check and medical were valid when your visa was issued you had 12 months from the date of issue to activate your visa (regardless of the age of your pc and meds). What does anyone else think? Who is correct? (please say me or it's gonna be panic stations in our house!) Cheers Pez
  3. WoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooHoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Been invited for a 189 visa. Many many many thanks to all those who have helped and guided me. Beers are on me when I arrive!:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
  4. I think Im still eligible as i haven't replied to WA's email and i am still required to pass some test before their invite is official. Was going to wait and see if i got lucky in the next two rounds then do the 190 for WA at the 11th hour. From what i can see their invite has not registered against my eoi . Am i wrong in thinking this?
  5. I was hoping to get a 189 visa. I've been offered a 190 for WA which I can use but prefer the freedom of the 189. Luckily I can still use the IELTS to get extra points I only claimed 10 after a rather annoying 8.5/8.5/9/7.5 score. I've actually requested a remark on my IELTS so I may not even have to resit it (and pigs might fly!!!). Do I need to suspend my EOI if I've not sorted out the extra IELTS points by my 40th?
  6. Hi I've put in my EOI I got 25 points for my age (39) to give me the minimum 60 points. I turn 40 on Nov 29th 2013. If I don't get an invite before the 29th Nov does this mean I lose 10 points? The guide reads as if your points score for age is at time of invitation? I'm worried that I won't have enough points anymore if I don't get an invite before then. Can anyone tell me if I'm right or will I be OK beyond the big 40?
  7. Hello everyone. I'm new to this visa lark. You all seem a pretty clued up bunch; so I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I've submitted my EOI andI put in for the 189 visa and 190 visa (for WA) thinking I may have a job offer in Perth. I have received an invitation to apply from WA for state nomination. I've since found out the job offer isn't going to happen so I'd now prefer a 189 visa to widen my options. My questions are: Can I get an invitation to apply for a 189 visa if I have an invite to apply for a 190 visa? Can I have two simultaneous invites or just one? What happens if I turn down the invite from WA and remove the 190 visa selection from my EOI? I've tried looking on the skill select website but there's nothing as far as I can see. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
