  1. So sorry for taking so long to respond - busy couple of days for me. Yes, we used the same ImmiAccount for both. Not a problem to do that. And yes, you can use hubby's credit card. I did. That's yet another example of outdated information on their website. No insurance or Medicare documents required. I heard that's on a checklist somewhere - it's completely incorrect. They've copied and pasted from checklists for other types of visas. Medical coverage is not a requirement or any type of partner visa.

Thanks so much! I did some research yesterday and found your replies on http://www.australiaforum.com (guessing it's you because it was the same username ;-)... The checklist is really confusing with all these incorrect information; I would have been totally lost without the help of all the forums and discussions... Thanks again.. you are a star :-) xx

  2. Yep, totally possible to apply online! :) You just do a regular 820 application - it will ask at one point if you're applying from a Prospective Marriage Visa, and you just tick yes. You'll be charged the correct ~$1100 AUD amount instead of the full amount for a regular 820. Yes, you'll need new statements from friends/family - but it's perfectly fine to do the minimum. You need a minimum of two Forms 888 from Aussie Citizens or PRs. That's all we provided, and were approved no problem. These statements have to be no older than six weeks when you submit them, so you obviously can't use the PMV ones.

And yes, we had to wait for our marriage cert from BDM as well - though I believe you can actually go in and pick one up from a BDM office same day if you really wanted to, after your celebrant has officially registered your marriage.

Thanks for all your help @CollegeGirl. Just another quick question; when you guys filled up the 47SP and 40SP forms online, you used the same ImmiAccount, right? Also, is it okay if I pay for the visa using my hubby's credit card? It says in the document checklist (for 820) that 'If your sponsor has paid the visa application charge for you then you must lodge your application by post or in person'.. totally confused after reading this! Also, do we need to provide health (Medicare) and travel insurance documents?

  3. Thanks so much for your reply @CollegeGirl. I'm so happy to finally find somebody who's just been through the same process. I'm getting all the new evidence sorted slowly... adding my name to our utility accounts (Electricity, Telephone), opening joint bank accounts etc.. So hopefully there'll be enough evidence of life together when we apply in October. Our marriage celebrant informed us today that it'll be 4-5 weeks after the wedding date that we'll receive the proper official marriage certificate! We were hoping to apply just after our wedding, but I guess there's nothing much we can do without the official certificate. What about statements from friends and family? Did you reuse the old ones (from PMV) or had to provide new ones? Also, is it possible to apply online?

    Thanks xxx

No, you don't need new police or medical checks - they'll ask if they want them for some reason, but it's pretty uncommon.

There's conflicting advice on whether you should provide the same info you did for the PMV PLUS evidence since then - since you're from a low-risk country, I would probably just provide mostly new evidence (showing you now share an address and share finances, etc., plus wedding photos, cards, marriage cert from BDM, etc. etc.). Just ensure you have evidence in all four categories. (That's the approach I took, and I was approved with no problem.) The PMV-to-820 is pretty low-intensity - they're just verifying that you've married and combined you're lives the way you're supposed to. You don't have to swamp them. And you should get your grant pretty quickly - some people get it the next day, others wait several weeks, but it's pretty rare to wait more than two months when coming from a PMV. Best wishes!

  4. Hi guys, I am in Oz now settling down to my new life in Queensland (entered Brisbane 25th July on PMV)! I had a quick question about the next visa application; Dave and I are planning to get married in October and applying for the next visa in November; however my UK PCC expires in September and I am unsure if I'll need another new one when applying for the changeover from PMV to partner visa. Also, do we need to send all the other documents once again or they are already there on my file with DIBP?

    Thanks xx

  5. Dear All,

I wonder if any of you lovely people who have gone down the same route as me can advise me? I have called the DIAC today (after holding for approx 30 mins) and the rep wasnt giving me much confidence about the information I require and sent me an email but still cant find the information, so I wondered if any of you can help!

I am a holder of a prospective marraige visa and about to apply for the Partner Visa 820/801 and wanted to know if I need to get a health check and police check again for this visa. I thought i read somewhere yhat you dont have to and the lady in immigration told me I had already done this but I wanted to see this in writign and cannot see it anywhere ont he website. Also she told me my partner did not ahve to complete form 40sp? but the website says you do. Does my partner have to provide all the evidence of his work, identiy all over again as i provided all this for the 309 amongst many other things?

I would be very grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction!

    Thanks

    Hi Natalie,

Your situation seemed very similar to mine and since it was posted some time back, I am guessing you have already applied and obtained your partner visa (820/801). I am in Oz now settling down to my new life in Queensland (entered Brisbane 25th July on PMV)!I had a quick question about the next visa application; Dave and I are planning to get married in October and applying for the next visa in November; however my UK PCC expires in September and I am unsure if I'll need another new one when applying for the changeover from PMV to partner visa. Also, do we need to send all the other documents once again or they are already there on my file with DIBP?

    Thanks xxx

  7. HI quick update for you all. I had a reply this morning from my CO. They do look at the date we've put down to get married on. The visa is likely to be issued 8 months to the date you are going to get married on. This way the extra month is for applying for the Partner visa. I'm assuming this way we're covered legally to still be in the country and carry on working whilst the other visa comes through.

Apologies if you already knew this but I was completely ignorant by this.

So in my scenario my fiancee and I are getting married 28th March 2015 which means my visa cannot be granted any earlier than 28th July - 8 months until 28th March.

So although it's a blow at least I know when it will be granted

That's interesting; we have applied for PMV as well but our wedding date is in October 2014, so I guess this doesn't affect us.... But it'll be an useful piece of information for future PMV applicants.

  8. I applied for my PMV in October as well. Although we're really impatient so I've already booked my flight for 3rd July and will go offshore for a few days when I receive my email. Good luck to everyone. The next month or so should be exciting for all of us. I hope they come in sooner rather than later.

I sent an email to my CO yesterday asking for an update. If by some miracle there is I'll post it

Hi @rheia and @CrossFit Mark, I emailed our CO (DP) yesterday and received an 'out of office' reply; he'll be back on 10th Oct (that'll be exactly 8 months for us)... So hopefully he'll grant us our visa once he is back from his short break! I have booked my flights as well; flying out on 26th July! :-) Just need the grant now.... Good luck everyone and keep us posted xx

  9. Im also with DP and applied a week after you. I emailed him a few weeks back as I may go to oz end of this month and he told me he will be approving mine early July so best to wait to save some money on airfares so yours should be before then, hopefully in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks Owliswise :-) I am planning to move to Oz end of July; so I think the timing should be okay. Fingers crossed for both of us!

  10. We've started moving money to Australia as well (my partner's savings account - the exchange is/was quite good at the moment). I'll open a NAB account once the visa comes through (while still in London, just to make things a bit easier once we're over there).

And of course I've got endless lists of things that need doing once the visa comes through. I've suddenly realised how many contracts there are to cancel, addresses to update etc.

Yes.. it's just for the contracts that I need a month after the visa grant; most of them need a months notice (BT, Vodafone, Elec/Gas, Water etc etc... list goes on). We have completed 7 months now and hopefully the grant will come through right at the 8th month mark.... :-) Good luck to you too xxx

  11. Yes it's been really tough.. hopefully the wait will be over soon. Planning to fly out maybe a month after my visa grant.. will book my tickets as soon as the grant comes through. I have informed work and already researched shipping companies (like you hehehe).. also opened an account with Money Corp to transfer my savings... keeping everything ready... just need the grant now :-)

Oh poor you... At least my partner is here in London with me which makes the wait sooo much easier. Are you planning on flying out as soon as the visa comes through? Or will it take a while to tie everything up here?
  12. Hey.. Great you started this thread... The wait is nearly over for us and hopefully the grants will start coming through from early June... I applied 9th October... My fiance is an Aussie and we have been apart since June 2013 (he visited for 3 weeks over Christmas though :-) ... so the wait has been really tough for both of us. We are just waiting for the grant and will book our flight tickets as soon as it comes through.. :-)

  13. Hi Dia2499 Not sure if you remember me. I applied a couple of weeks before you. It was so nice to see you posting. We are in Australia now and trying to set up. Without the visa has presented challenges. It is hard to believe that the visa could be approved as soon as the end of next month....although I think it will be May. Our Case officer left in December and we were reassigned so I prey that wont affect our application at all. The end of next month I intent to email the CO and just check up to make sure all is ok and we haven't fallen through the cracks.

    How are you holding up?

Hi bearinmind, Of course I remember you.. I can imagine that it'll be difficult for you to settle in Oz without the visa.. no work rights etc.. but at least both of you are together and it is nearly time for our grants.. the bigger chunk of waiting is done and now it's only 2 months more! I am counting each day now, the wait is terrible but there's light at the end of the dark tunnel and we are nearly there.. Keep us posted about your progress coz once you receive your grant it'll be my turn!

    Good luck in Oz! xxxx

  14. Hi Peeps,

My PMV application date was October 17th so looks like we are all around the same time! My CO is DP and he has been quite good. Nothing further has been requested and Police check is in, plus have my medical on saturday ( not looking forward to that dreaded blood test due to a lifelong fear of needles!!) Im glad the wife to be appreciates the lengths i have gone to haha.

I guess we all just have to be positive and not clock watch, i have to say its much easier now than the first few months although we are meeting in 3 weeks in Thailand so that softens the blow ;)

Roll on June/July and get me on that first flight to Sydney!!

    Good luck everyone

    Rich

    Hey Owliswise (nice name hehehe)

My CO is DP and yes he has been really good; we have not disturbed him either; just checked with him after my meds and he confirmed that they were fine.. where you going for your meds? Mine was at Cardiff Spire and the doc was brilliant... didn't feel a thing during my blood test :-)

I have not seen my man since Christmas and the wait is becoming unbearable now.. hoping for an early June grant..

Enjoy Thailand with your missus (to be) and then when you return it'll be nearly time for our grants... Good luck xx

  15. Hey Dia

Yes from what am reading from other people posts on the partner visa application which is pretty much the same as our pmv application that's its taking 8 months. Am going to email my co in June for an update. I haven't emailed him since November with my wedding dresses receipt which he didn't request I just thought every little helps so sent it. One person said they emailed just after the 8 month mark to see how their application going and got their grant the same day!

The wait is bad, I phone or skype everyday. Seeing my soon to be stepson growing up right before my eyes really hurts, his teeth have grown and his smile is amazing to see. Am missing out on his football games and he is soon starting tennis up. I miss my man too, we seem to be stuck in ground hog day. But this month is passing quickly for me. Just throw myself into work and sleep when am not there. I seem to have shut down to life to be honest, must be bodies copping mechanism.

Keep ya chin up, soon be back with your man Christmas shopping or something and looking back. Imagine your meeting at airport! Think about the future I find that heps a lot

    X

Hey Straya... thanks so much for your post.. this forum has helped me a lot to stay focussed and not lose hope; We Skype everyday twice.. there's a 10 hour time difference so it's difficult but somehow we manage! It's been more than 8 months that we have been apart.. my partner had to return to Oz for work commitments.. he visited twice in between though.. really good times :-) We keep telling ourselves that the hard part is over (5.5 months into the waiting game).. only 2.5 months more... What you said is so true... discussing and imagining the future does help a lot... planning trips and Christmas :-)

Keep in touch.. our applications are just a week apart, so might be processed together.. btw which part of Oz your moving to? I'll be moving to Brisbane...

Enjoy ur Skype sessions... hope everything works out soon.. for both of us.. xxxxx

  16. Hello

The wait is terrible isn't it, bless you both. Not many posting their grants are there. Maybe not many to be processed or something, or they are capped till June. Think most people are getting their grants around the 8 month mark.

    X

Ps my co is WP who's yours dia2499

Hi Straya.. My CO is DP and the last contact I had with him was after the meds were submitted; he confirmed that the meds were fine and now it's just a waiting game.. It's taking the full 8 months now.. I was hoping a May grant but now I think it'll be June.. :-(

  17. Hi Bridetobe2014,

I know how it feels dear; we are in a similar situation.. My fiance and I applied for PMV beginning of October; just did my Medicals last week and Police checks sent in as well.. Our CO has also sent the important documents back to us.. so now it's just a waiting game... My fiance is back in Oz (since last 6 months) and I am here because of work commitments.. He visited me during Christmas (only 2 weeks :-( ) but it's back to 10 hours time difference now.. Just hoping that time goes fast and we are together soon...

Good luck to you and keep us updated on your progress.. xxx

    Hi Sjn87 & others,

I was just wondering if you have received any news on your visa yet?

I applied at the beginning of August. CO assigned in August and medical done in November. Police check in also....

My fiance is back in Australia and I am just dying to get back to him... I know the processing time is 'at least 8-9 months'.

Would be great to hear from anyone in a similar boat.

    Thanks!

  18. Hooray!! That's great news! Hopefully that means we'll get ours soon.

Have they asked for any more information yet?

Hi Lilacdreamer... no further documents required for our case.. I guess we had sent everything possible with our application.. CO sent all the originals back to me  .. now just have to wait 2 more months and then do the medical...

Good luck to you... hope you get your CO soon... xxx
