  1. Hi guys, I am in Oz now settling down to my new life in Queensland (entered Brisbane 25th July on PMV)! I had a quick question about the next visa application; Dave and I are planning to get married in October and applying for the next visa in November; however my UK PCC expires in September and I am unsure if I'll need another new one when applying for the changeover from PMV to partner visa. Also, do we need to send all the other documents once again or they are already there on my file with DIBP?

  2. Im also with DP and applied a week after you. I emailed him a few weeks back as I may go to oz end of this month and he told me he will be approving mine early July so best to wait to save some money on airfares so yours should be before then, hopefully in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks Owliswise :-) I am planning to move to Oz end of July; so I think the timing should be okay. Fingers crossed for both of us!

  3. Hi Dia2499 Not sure if you remember me. I applied a couple of weeks before you. It was so nice to see you posting. We are in Australia now and trying to set up. Without the visa has presented challenges. It is hard to believe that the visa could be approved as soon as the end of next month....although I think it will be May. Our Case officer left in December and we were reassigned so I prey that wont affect our application at all. The end of next month I intent to email the CO and just check up to make sure all is ok and we haven't fallen through the cracks.

    How are you holding up?

Hi bearinmind, Of course I remember you.. I can imagine that it'll be difficult for you to settle in Oz without the visa.. no work rights etc.. but at least both of you are together and it is nearly time for our grants.. the bigger chunk of waiting is done and now it's only 2 months more! I am counting each day now, the wait is terrible but there's light at the end of the dark tunnel and we are nearly there.. Keep us posted about your progress coz once you receive your grant it'll be my turn!

    Good luck in Oz! xxxx

  4. Hi Peeps,

My PMV application date was October 17th so looks like we are all around the same time! My CO is DP and he has been quite good. Nothing further has been requested and Police check is in, plus have my medical on saturday ( not looking forward to that dreaded blood test due to a lifelong fear of needles!!) Im glad the wife to be appreciates the lengths i have gone to haha.

I guess we all just have to be positive and not clock watch, i have to say its much easier now than the first few months although we are meeting in 3 weeks in Thailand so that softens the blow ;)

Roll on June/July and get me on that first flight to Sydney!!

    Good luck everyone

    Rich

    Hey Owliswise (nice name hehehe)

My CO is DP and yes he has been really good; we have not disturbed him either; just checked with him after my meds and he confirmed that they were fine.. where you going for your meds? Mine was at Cardiff Spire and the doc was brilliant... didn't feel a thing during my blood test :-)

I have not seen my man since Christmas and the wait is becoming unbearable now.. hoping for an early June grant..

Enjoy Thailand with your missus (to be) and then when you return it'll be nearly time for our grants... Good luck xx

  5. Hey Dia

Yes from what am reading from other people posts on the partner visa application which is pretty much the same as our pmv application that's its taking 8 months. Am going to email my co in June for an update. I haven't emailed him since November with my wedding dresses receipt which he didn't request I just thought every little helps so sent it. One person said they emailed just after the 8 month mark to see how their application going and got their grant the same day!

The wait is bad, I phone or skype everyday. Seeing my soon to be stepson growing up right before my eyes really hurts, his teeth have grown and his smile is amazing to see. Am missing out on his football games and he is soon starting tennis up. I miss my man too, we seem to be stuck in ground hog day. But this month is passing quickly for me. Just throw myself into work and sleep when am not there. I seem to have shut down to life to be honest, must be bodies copping mechanism.

Keep ya chin up, soon be back with your man Christmas shopping or something and looking back. Imagine your meeting at airport! Think about the future I find that heps a lot

Hey Straya... thanks so much for your post.. this forum has helped me a lot to stay focussed and not lose hope; We Skype everyday twice.. there's a 10 hour time difference so it's difficult but somehow we manage! It's been more than 8 months that we have been apart.. my partner had to return to Oz for work commitments.. he visited twice in between though.. really good times :-) We keep telling ourselves that the hard part is over (5.5 months into the waiting game).. only 2.5 months more... What you said is so true... discussing and imagining the future does help a lot... planning trips and Christmas :-)

Keep in touch.. our applications are just a week apart, so might be processed together.. btw which part of Oz your moving to? I'll be moving to Brisbane...

Enjoy ur Skype sessions... hope everything works out soon.. for both of us.. xxxxx

  6. Hello

The wait is terrible isn't it, bless you both. Not many posting their grants are there. Maybe not many to be processed or something, or they are capped till June. Think most people are getting their grants around the 8 month mark.

Ps my co is WP who's yours dia2499

Hi Straya.. My CO is DP and the last contact I had with him was after the meds were submitted; he confirmed that the meds were fine and now it's just a waiting game.. It's taking the full 8 months now.. I was hoping a May grant but now I think it'll be June.. :-(

  7. Hooray!! That's great news! Hopefully that means we'll get ours soon.

Have they asked for any more information yet?

Hi Lilacdreamer... no further documents required for our case.. I guess we had sent everything possible with our application.. CO sent all the originals back to me  .. now just have to wait 2 more months and then do the medical...

Good luck to you... hope you get your CO soon... xxx

  8. I have my fingers crossed you hear something really soon.

Yes It's so nice to know all that hard work means we got it right.... a big surprise I was convinced we would have forgotten something. I think we enclosed everything we could find....i think there was a kitchen sink in there too  I look forward to hearing that you have received you CO soon. xxxxxxx

At last we have been assigned a CO!!! Our CO is DP :ssign19: Need to do medicals in 3 months and that's it... So happy that no extra documents required!! Was eagerly waiting to update my signature with 'CO assigned' ... hehehehe..

    Good luck to all!!

  9. We have our CO today. Woohooo:biggrin: We have TS and all we need to provide is a medical in due course. Processing time is the normal 8-9 months. Since we are already over a month down the path 7-8 months left

Ohhhhh that's awesome news bearinmind.. I think we'll be next then... hopefully sometime next week!! So the CO is happy with all your docs and you just need to provide medical.. Good luck.. xxx

  10. Just a wee update peeps! We finally recieved our CO on the 23 October - thankgod - sorry meant to post up but was away on hols for a few days. Date given for health checks is the 16 December and they requested my long birth certificate (which i had to order - waiting on it now) and a copy of my partners UK visa. Do feel much better now the ball is at least rolling abit and hopefully these small requests mean all the other application stuff was fine! ;o)

Thanks so much for the update madoabnot.. we are still waiting for our CO (money taken 9th October).. hopefully soon now.. Good luck with everything.. :-)

  11. Hi All, we sent our partner visa application in on the 23rd of September, the money was taken on the 24th. We have heard nothing from them nearly a month later. Is this normal? Should we be worried? I know they have the application but not hearing anything in nearly a month is worrying us.

Hi bearinmind, we sent in our PMV application on 3rd October, money taken 9th / 10th, no emails from CO yet.. I thought it took a week after payment and was expecting an email last week... I keep checking my inbox every few minutes.. but I reckon you'll be hearing before me.. do keep us posted... may be they are really busy??? GOOD LUCK

  12. Hello all! This is my first post!

The fiancé and I are just about to submit our application for 309/100, just waiting on one last Stat Dec from Oz. We've been in a relationship, and living together, for over 4 years. (I moved in the day we met, long story!). I'm in the UK on an Ancestry visa, which is due to expire in July 2014. We'd hoped to have the application in a month ago, but we've been delayed by the Stat Dec's.

My my main worry is that I'll have to go back to Australia without him next year, as it won't be processed in time. From what I've read, the average processing time seems to be 7 months at the moment. Is this right?

I'm having so many sleepless nights at the moment, I'm just desperate to get the application in now! I'm so glad I've found this thread, other people who know exactly how this feels.

Hi Lilacdreamer, welcome to the forum... I am a new member as well and submitted my PMV (300) application recently, money was taken from my fiance's card on 9th October, waiting for the email from our CO now... hopefully soon!! Then starts the long wait.........

  13. Prospective marriage visa granted! I finally get to see my fiancé after 7 months apart :D

Case officer was VF, submitted 28/03/13, granted 11/10/2013

    Good luck everyone! :)

Great news! Congrats Arees23!! I know how difficult it is being apart... we are apart since last 4 months and as you can see it's 2:30 am here and I am online.. actually Skyping with my fiance in Oz (his Saturday morning)!! :-)

Good luck with the move and have a great life ahead!!! xx

  14. Hi there... My fiance and I applied for the PMV last week; we have been together in the UK for the last 3 years but my fiance (Australian) returned to OZ few months back due to work commitments and we decided to apply for the PMV. He used an Aussie agent in Queensland for our application and they couriered all the docs to Australia House (London) for processing! I thought it was such a waste of time with them couriering stuff all the way from OZ when it would have taken just a day if I posted them from Cardiff! But the agents know best I guess!

Anyway, dreading the long wait now, very difficult for both of us being apart since last 4 months :-( ... This forum is really helpful and I have been following it since last few weeks; it's great to read some people are going through the same process at the same time.
