  1. So glad your boys have settled well. My eldest is very excited about the whole idea of Australia but our 4 year old is less enthusiastic. A colleague of my husbands moved over to adelaide some years back now and they keep in touch but don't know them well enough to stay with. We'll hopefully arrange some temporary accommodation here and then find somewhere more permanent once we arrive. We have a dog who will be joining is so not sure how hard it's going to be to rent, cos here in the uk it's a nightmare finding somewhere. My husband is hopeful he will find work but I try to be more realistic. Like you say though he has got his hgv so can always fall back on that. I will definitely take you up on your offer of help! Thankyou so much for your email! I always have so many things running through my mind but no one to ask...So expect to receive lots of messages lol! x
  2. Hi Susan, you have just commented on my post regarding work for plumbers over in oz. I see you have two young boys! We to have young boys, 5,4 & baby who is 3 months. Have they settled ok? Are they missing family much? Your concerns regarding licences etc etc are what is worrying me atm. I can see its going to cost money, but how much?? We will have a bit of money behind us but not sure if it's enough! Laura
  3. Hi there! Thanks for your reply I think we have our hearts and heads set on adelaide, possibly athelstone or glenelg area. We have been told by our migrant agency Perth is where you are likely to find more work? Where are you and your family living? Are you working at all or is it just your husband? How much experience has your husband got? Sorry lots of questions! Just want to make sure we are going to afford to live until my husband finds a permanent job.
  4. Hi, I'm not sure if I've posted this in the right place at all, if not could somebody pls direct me to a thread as I'm sure it's all been discussed before? Anyway, we have just put in for our vetasses assessment. They have just asked for few more copies of certified references which I'm hoping is a good sign we will get a positive response? Our migrant agency we are using is hopeful to I'm thinking ahead, and what's playing on my mind is if it all comes back positive and we end up being invited to apply for a visa, assuming my husband scores an 8 in the tilts test !, what is the current work situation for plumbers out there? Is there enough work and what is a realistic wage? My husband would work for somebody whilst he basically re- trains as it seems from googling his qualifications don't really mean slot once out there? He also has his class 1 & 2 driving licenses, I'm not sure if this will be any better pay?? What do you think? Really appreciate any replies. Trying to plan ahead and see what we could and couldn't afford out there!
  5. Hi, just starting to gather all the evidence needed to send off with my online assessment. I need to get three emplyer reference letters, however i already have two that i asked for last year, they are dated 2012 but they have all the relevant information needed. Do you think i could use these or will i need to ask for new ones? Also i was only going to include my first and last payslips for two of the employers, plus my p60/s. I've been unable to find any payslips at all from my first employer though, which is where i completed my apprentice, however i can provide 3 p60s and a letter of reference, will this be enough eveidence?? Im a little confused as to whether i need to get it all certified aswel... can i scan the original copy on to my laptop (colour) and send it online without being certified? Or would it be best to photocopy all my documents, get them certified and scan and send the certified copies?? Many thanks for your help!
  6. Hi, my husband is a qualified plumber but has been driving for the past two years. I cannot find anything about being MARA registered on there website? I have emailed them asking if we could re start our application from where we left off back in April 2012, however Ive noticed the certificate they sent us was only valid for 6 months so looks like we will have to start the whole process again. Gutting as it cost £1800 Just desperate to get out of the uk now!! My husband is dyslexic and not good at writing or reading which is why I'm not so hopeful about him doing the test. Wish I could do it for him!
  7. Hi, We looked into moving to australia last year and we passed the points test for skilled migration, we used a company called visas simply, however since then my husband has not been in the same line of work and we are now 5 or 10 points short... I had an idea we could go over on a working holiday visa and potentially find a sponsor whilst there, however it appears we're not able to take our 2 children on this visa. This would have been the perfect answer as we could have practised the 'try before you buy' however there is no possibility of going on a holiday to do this without working, we just couldn't afford it. Can anyone suggest anything? I've looked into taking the English tests which would boost the point score but having never been to oz before the working holiday visa sounded perfect...
