  1. Thanks alot Rupert and Kaiser for the information you have provided. Its very good to hear from someone with first hand experience in the same trade. Unfortunately Kaiser, I couldnt find a Painting and Decorating apprenticeship at the time when I was looking so just went through the college route, whilst gaining work experience. Everything that is stated for a Painting Trades Worker I have undertaken whilst doing the NVQ2 through my college. What do you mean by doing the AQF? So by experience does it have to be 3 years or can it be less? I had considered seeing an agent but just feel that most of what they will tell me I will nearly already know and dont know if it would be worthwhile when i havent gained the experience yet. I started off in Perth in Feb 2011 and you could see that the area is rapidly expanding that is why i thought that a trade like P&D would be a good one to get into and try get back to oz, I also spent a year and half in Alice Springs and thought the there or Darwin is remote so they might need P&D`s too.
  2. In June i will have gained my NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating over here in the UK. This is the first step for me in trying to get a career so I can move to Australia for good. Has anybody moved from the UK to Oz as a painter and decorator? I would like to get tips and advise from anybody that has. Like is it necessary to have 3 years full time experience or are there ways around that. What is the best visa to look for? (I cant apply for WHV because i have already had that), How did people go about getting sponsorship before they could move to Oz? Does anybody know any painting and decorators willing to sponsor etc...
  3. Yes I lived in Alice for a year and a half and alot of guys i met went there and did construction work to get their 2nd year visa
  4. If I was you I would go to somewhere like Alice Springs or Darwin and do construction work. Better pay than fruit picking by a mile, and plenty of other backpackers about the place.
  5. Cheers Aba, I really must look into that. What examples of evidence does she need to support her experience as she held the role in more than 1 business that she worked for
  6. Thanks Blossom after hearing from you and the fact that you have experienced what we are going through, I guess that the study option is a no go. Thanks for your input too ABA, i just looked through that 457 visa now. It looks like a good option as the place that wants to sponsor her to be their manager are really keen to get her to come back and run things as they have 4 young kids and the fact she knows the running of the business very well, plus they find it hard to hold onto people as employees are coming and going every few months. I can understand most of what the 457 requires but im not sure what actual details my partner would have to provide to show her experience and capabilities for the visa as she doesnt have any qualification paperwork. Could you help me out with what details she would need for the visa crowd?
  7. It says ill be able to work 40 a fortnight, so like 20 a week but still i get what your saying about it not being full time. I have many mates over there that are in trades and sponsored, and a few contacts too. My partner has someone willing to sponsor her too as a restaurant manager as that is what she was doing before the WHV expired, its just she wants to get the qualification to support her too. Would you have any recommendations of migration agents in the UK that might be able to help with further advise and where I am living doesnt seem to have any or at least I cant seem to come across any.
  8. cheers for the advise lebourvellec, I had a feeling I would need a few years experience as it makes sense. After talking to my partner last night, she is determined to study in Darwin, either applying in July or next February to get money together. Her course is Diploma in Hospitality which is 2 years and I hope to get 2 years experience with a painting and decorating firm whilst living there. Even though it says I can only work part time, Im hoping that having 2 years of experience in Oz in my trade may help me to have a better chance of showing Ive have the qualifications and skills to get sponsored.
  9. Hi everybody, I would really like all the help and information that any of ye can provide. My Partner and I moved back to the UK last June after my 2nd WHV was complete. Once I got back i knew i didnt want to live the side of the world again and that i needed to get back 'home' to Australia. I lived in Alice Springs for over a year and made regular visits to Darwin and spent quite alot of my time working out Bush. I know that I want to get back there (to the NT) but more importantly my girlfriend is adamant to get back too. I worked as a machine operator in Oz and Alice Springs and looked into getting sponsored but its obviously not on the list. So since coming back to the UK i knew i had to find a new career and got enrolled in college. By the time I have finished, I will have an NVQ level 2 in Painting and Decorating which i think is like a CERT III in Oz. The thing with my qualification though is that it has been through college, not an apprenticeship so even though I am doing 1 day a week work experience im not sure if that counts for experience. I am 25 and would like to know once i get my qualification, is it possible for me to get sponsored? If I dont have enough credentials to get us back, my partner(26) is contemplating moving us over to Oz and going to college/uni in Darwin. Yes I know it is very expensive but she is really keen for us to get back. She is looking into the cafe/restaurant management side of things as that is where all her experience to now comes from but she hasnt got the paper to prove it tho. Instead of paying to go to college i read that if you have the experience of a job that is on the CSOL list it could be used instead of a degree, is this true? Im sure she could get references off her previous employers that she managed their cafes and restaurants but would that be enough or does she need more proof? Sorry for the big long msg folks, just a young couple looking for guidance, Cheers.
  10. Hey mate, what p+d qualification are you getting? I am in the exact same boat as you trying to get my p+d qualification to get back over to Oz, but im short on ideas or info as to how soon i can get back, thought u might have some info?
  11. My cousin is curious to know if anyone has heard of someone or even themselves used a 2nd passport to get back into Australia. He knows that It is against the rules of immigration but is willing to give it a go? Ive told him he is mad to try incase it all backfires and he has to return home minus all the money he used to get there. He used his uk passport for his first and second whv a few years ago and is itching to get back as he is unemployed and misses the opportunities Australia had to offer. He is able to apply for an irish passport as my uncle and aunt (his parents) are irish and wondered had anyone ever tried to get back in to Australia like this?
