  2. Hi all, Me & my partner are making the move to oz next year, were all sorted and know what route were taking but now my partners mom & dad also want to move out there but they are both over 50. Can anybody please help me and give me some advice on which route they should take. Ive tried researching it but it seems a bit confusing once your over 50. They would like to move permanently and retire there. Any help would be appreciated. Thank-you in advance
  3. Thanks for the replies everyone. I have looked up all the information regarding my plumbing qualification and even contacted a few colleges to retrain at a cost of over $5000 but Brisbane is where I have friends so think it going to have to be there I go. There also seems to be a lot more jobs available in Brisbane.
  4. Hi all, Myself, my partner and our 6 year old son are going to be making the move from the UK around this time next year but we cant decide where to move to I'm a fully qualified plumber and gas engineer and my partner is a hairdresser. I have friends in Brisbane who have said its an amazing place and it does look great but we've also been looking at Adelaide and it looks beautiful there and I hear lots of English there too. I would appreciate any advice off anyone who lives in any of these place and would be even better to hear off a plumber who lives there. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi, Me & my partner were about to apply for a 189 visa but then discovered that for this we have to be living together for 12 months first. We have been together for 4 years but haven't lived together yet. Does anyone know if there is a way around this or do we have to live together for 12 months in the Uk first? Thanks in advance.
  6. Thank-you for your reply. Ill pm you now.
  7. Yes it did help. Thank-you.
  8. Hi all, I'm hoping to make the move to Queensland with my partner & son in 2015. Im a qualified plumber and gas engineer in the Uk but understand I will have to re-do my qualifications once there. Can anyone please help and let me know what courses, training days, exams ect I will have to do so I can work once I'm there and if anyone knows the prices that would be brilliant. Ive had a look around the web but there seems to be that many different ones I don't know which ones actually mean anything on paper. Thanks in advance
  9. Hi mate, I just got back from my assessment & it was a piece of piss. Theory in the morning which they pretty much walk you through - I guarantee you'll get 100% on that. Started practical at midday and was done by 2. Had to pipe hot, cold and gas to a boiler jig then run the gas 1m to a picture of a gas meter on the wall then run the hot & cold 2m to a basin. Then just a bit of waste pipe from the basin to a stack. You really can't fail at all. The bloke who runs it is great and will help you on anything but I don't think you'll need his help. Good luck with yours mate.
  10. Ill let you know as soon as i'm done mate. You got yours in London?
  11. Hi mate, glad to hear its ok. Im going to do the courses as soon as I get there. If you dont mind me asking how much were the courses and what part of oz are you in? Im hoping to go gold coast. Cheers
  12. Hi mate, thanks for all the info its brilliant. I'm going to do them courses as soon as I get over there hopefully next year if all goes to plan. I've got the skill assessment this Saturday in London thinks its the same 1 that you did yours at. How's work over there for you at the moment? Cheers
  13. Hi, I'm doing my assessment this Saturday in London. As soon as I've done it I'll get back to you and let you know how I got on. I've spoke to a few more lads recently and they've said the same thing and that its a piece of piss and nothing to worry about. Cheers
  14. What gap course you going on? I'm hoping to be out early next year if all goes to plan. Let me know how you get on mate if you don't mind?
  15. Cheers lads. I'm actually looking forward to doing it now, getting it out of the way. How you finding it in Oz? Plenty of plumbing work for you?
