  1. Hi We are now dual Australian and British Citizens and moved back to the UK last year after living in Canberra for 7 years, we have realised we have made the wrong decision so are looking into the process of moving back to Canberra in time for my 4 and 6 year olds to start school in February 2020. We were hoping to arrive at the beginning of January but could possibly come sooner if we had to. My 6 year old had already started preschool there so am hoping to get them back into the same school. Are we able to enrol them into a school whilst here in the UK or do we need an Australian address? I look forward to receiving any advice you can give. Thanks
  2. Hi looks like we've decided after 6 years and 2 babies to leave Australia and return home as the pull of family and the kids not having family memories and spending quality time with grandparents and cousins etc so we've decided ? To go home next year. We won't be taking any big furniture maybe a wooden bed frame and mattress and many boxes of toys, clothes, sewing machine and just stuff! Is it better value to use a cube box thingo (how much did you pay for something similar) or just sending various boxes home via dhl or other such courier? Was wondering for those who've done it, did you just sell and replace the kids toys? Kids will be 2 and 4 when we go back so obviously won't have any baby stuff left by then but not sure whether to sell some stuff and replace most? thanks!!
  3. Hi me again! i have sent a few emails to the child care centers in Freo and surrounds and was wondering if anyone has any feedback or comments on any of them!? Many thanks
  4. Hi for those that have moved from canberra or Sydney to Perth, what removal company did you use to move your belongings and car? We will pack into boxes and they can do the rest! We want to take the car too. Has anyone done this? How much did it cost? thanks
  5. Hi we are hoping to relocate from Canberra in the next few months. Can you reccommend any short term lets that are in or around Freo (apart from stayz, airbNb) thanks
  6. Hi So we are hoping to relocate in December from Canberra (been here for 3 yrs from UK). We love Freo and Cottesloe type areas, we want to be failry near to the beaches and close to train line to Perth! I have emailed a gazillion estate agents and looked on Stayz and various other websites but i was wondering if anyone has done a similar thing and can reccomed a place to stay in the short term once we arrive. Its hubby, toddler and me. We will be looking for fully furnished not too far from beaches. Most places we have been looking at are charging $100+ a night and thats way more than i want to spend! Has anyone stayed in a nice place for less than that? it will only be for up to a month until we find a proper rental to settle into! I look forwaed to your responces! Thanks
  7. Thanks all. will prob fly.... now have to look into relocating some stuff and find somewhere to stay in the short term!
  8. Hi what us the best/cheapest way of sending a box of stuff eg toys/housey things/clothes etc from Canberra to perth? Post office? Courier? Shipping/removal company? Thinking of selling furniture and most stuff but there will be some stuff we will need to bring with us but will be too expensive to bring on flight?! can you please let me know your experience?! Thanks!
  9. Hey! We came from the Uk to Canberra 3 years ago (with just a suitcase each!) We have set up home here and now have a 1 year old but looking at options to and are planning our move to Perth which is where we have always wnated to end up. Canberra is wonderful but we want a coastal lifestyle! For those that have done a similar (or same move) I have some questions! We are considering driving to Perth, if you did this, where did you stop? How many hours did you drive before stopping? Our baby will be 18-20 months or so by the time we go, so will need regular breaks! Not sure whether to sell the car (have a small one) and get a bigger comfier car, or a buy/rent a camper van? Did you sell everything and start again from scratch? Did you have your stuff driven over? By who? How much? A removals company or did you use a trailer? It was sooooo much easier moving form the UK when it was the 2 of us with nothing but a few clothes! Now we have a baby and loads of housey stuff, not sure what to do! I look forward to your responses! thanks!!
  10. Hi all we moved to canberra on a 176 visa 2 years a go from the uk and we love it here! We've since had a baby and as much as canberra is a fantastic place to live, it's 2 hrs from the nearest coast (amazing beaches but still too far!) we moved to Australia to have the coastal lifestyle and now we have completed our 2 years that we committed to we want to move. In your experience where do you recommend living with a 5 month old baby? What we want is Canberra with a beach! Ideally we want to be able to walk to the beach. Hubby is a graphic designer/finished artist/art worker but doesn't want a Long stressful commute to work, he currently walks to work in 10 mins at the mo! Everything is great but we want the beach!! We have travelled extensively as backpackers 8 years ago and have been to all the city's and loved Perth and Adelaide. We have friends in Sydney/manly who we Often see but its way too touristy for us and too expensive to settle there and cronulla is an option but the only reason we would go to Sydney area is because we have friends there. We will make new friends as we have done in canberra. So we are looking to move to Perth or Adelaide or Brisbane! what areas do you recommend? thanks very much in advance!!!

  15. Hi We currently live in canberra and have lived here for 2 years. We want to live by the coast. Not sure which one as it depends on hubby's job! He's looking for finished art/graphic design type work, does anyone know where there is lots of this type of work going? thanks
