I did my ACRO police check just a couple of months ago. Did you pay the additional $ to have your police check done within 48hrs and express post? If you didn't it can take upto 10 days to process plus the time it takes to post the document to Australia.
I paid for the 2 day turnaround but didn't pay for the express post.

@Bevan I just had a look through my emails, and I didnt receive any emails or confirmation until the actual cert arrived, but as I said, was surprisingly quick. Hope all goes well for you and I know that restless feeling...I've still got 8 months of it ahead of me!
Haha just kills me to think this is the only thing holding me up!

Quick one guys (saves me creating a new thread). For those from the UK when you applied for your ACRO Police Clearance did they email you when it gets dispatched or not?
Cheers.

@Bevan Hey buddy, just a quick one to let you know that the UK one is actually relatively fast, and as far as I understand (which might not be saying much, maybe someone else can confirm) you only need a colour scan. I applied for a UK one, an AFP one and an Irish one and the UK was the first to be done...I ordered two copies for a little extra cost, had one sent to a friend in the UK who scanned it as soon as it arrived, and another to my Aus address....cant remember exactly, but it was very quick (less than two weeks)..whereas my Irish one took 6 weeks....and is just a word document IN COMIC SANS FONT.....
Might not help you out now, but incase someone else comes across the same thing
awesome thank you. Should have sent it to a mate in the UK in hindsight. Hopefully it comes quick!

As per spreadsheet @Bevan got nomination approved today.
Thanks @Hapy.
Yes got approved (nomination part) yesterday, made a bloody error though didn't I. I've now been asked to submit a police clearance for the UK. I didn't think and had only done an Australian one. To make matters worse it looks like delivery can be a couple of weeks as they don't send the certificate via email like the one for Australia. Applied this morning for the certificate.

Looks like there is some movement for me. They've been in touch with Head Office who did the nomination part and asked for some extra documents which were easily dealt with. Fingers crossed!!

Thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated.

Hi guys so i've been here in Sydney on my 457 visa for over two years now and I want to apply for permanent residency. Everything on the internet seems to contradict itself so wanted to ask those who have first hand experience in this for help. My best bet seems to be the Temporary Residence Transition via the 186 Employer Nomination Scheme.
Whilst my current employer has agreed to do this I have to do all the leg work.
My initial question is:
Does the employer have to submit an employer nomination first even though I am already on a 457 visa? after which I can then apply for the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186)
Any help is much appreciated as always!

Hi all, so I'm quickly approaching my 2 years in Australia on my sponsorship (457 VISA).
Now obviously after two years it is possible to apply for permanent residency which I am extremely keen to do.
Here's the kicker, I've been approached about a very similar role for a different company but the benefits are incredible, now my question is:
Should they transfer my VISA am I still eligible for the new company to apply for PR? would I have to wait a further 2 years a risk having nothing at the end once it expires? or do I have to have a new 457 VISA and start from scratch?
All help much appreciated as always.
Cheers,
Bev.
