  1. Many thanks LInda for sending me updated information regarding the 103 visa queue dates that are currently being considered. Our date is just one month later than the cut of date, September 2010, it's so frustrating that it hasn't moved for 12 months, I really wish that I had applied for the contributory visa a few years ago, still life goes on.

  2. I recently posted with an incorrect visa number, I'll start again. Has anyone recently had a request for police checks ect. for visa 103 or have been allocated a case officer  Last year a chart was displayed showing the date that further documents were being requested as  August 2010,  Does anyone know if this as been updated?    Any information would be really appreciated

It is a very difficult decision when your home country is in your soul. I just love the British countryside, birdsong, history and it would be so much to leave behind but is seeing family just maybe once a year enough, especially as we age and travelling may become more difficult.  As my son says, it would be ridiculous to pay the cost of the CPV if we're not definite about using it, but if we're still uncertain at the time it's eventually granted I feel it wouldn't be wise to abandon the opportunity.  If we did then find we definitely needed to be in Australia for some reason it would be awful to have to start the lengthy process all over again.  I expect as it takes so long for visa granting now, when the time eventually arrives there'll be no more indecision and we'll be going but I don't enjoy the turmoil in my mind at present.

My mum applied in 2009 and our queue date is Aug 2010. we got allotted case officer in may and now we are waiting for AOS processing. hope she gets her visa soon.

Thank you Elbert for the reply, I'm worried now because we go visiting our Australian family early December for three months. I still can't understand why the queue date is still showing 3000 plus we thought that we had ages to make a decision.

Yes people do apply but nobody has yet waited 30 years for a non cont 103 visa the actual wait at the moment is 8 years

The 103 visa is a long wait and eight years may be a bit optimistic. We applied May 2010, our queue date is 24 December 2010, we are now 3460 in the queue which I expect will take us to 2020 before we get accepted. However I was interested in you saying that August 2010 is  now being considered. Where did this information come from? also can anyone who also applied in 2010 please let us know if you have been contacted about police checks ect.  We aren't 100% sure, (because of our age), whether we will eventually end up in Australia and I suspect there are a lot who are also thinking along the same lines. I have loved keeping a check on all the many people that have passed through this forum and the information and advise given by so many. Keep up the good work.

  6. Hi Deesydney, With the 301 queue being reduced the length of waiting time could be ten years, who knows. All I can tell you is that ours has been reduced by over 7000 in four years However there are still over eleven thousand ahead of us in the queue. we're still expecting to wait another five years but that could change if the allocation increases which it has done in previous years.

  7. Take care with the queue date calculator! The calculator for the 804 (Aged Parent) visa was completely out of action for the same 9 months. It is now generating numbers again but there is something fishy about the numbers. For example, it says that there are still 400 people in front of me which would suggest that I have about another year to wait. In fact, I reached the front of the queue in September last year and actually got the visa in December. Total waiting time was a little over seven years even though the immi.gov site says that the waiting time for this visa is thirteen years or so.

    Cheers

That's really good news and thank you for letting us know, our date is 24 September 2010 so we'll keep our fingers crossed that we'll be on the last stretch quiet a bit earlier than we thought.

  8. Not sure if I'm posting correctly but here goes, If we get a 600 visa for five years, (we are currently on a 301), does anyone know if we are allowed to buy established property rather than new built. Also does anyone know if this would affect our old age pension being away from the uk for more than half a year.
