Hi, I recently accepted a job in Australia. All Visas have gone through and we are preparing to move out in the next few months. As part of my contract they gave me a $10k signing bonus as we are not shipping any of our personal items. If I get this $10,000 transferred to my account is it TAX FREE if we say its for relocation or will I be Liable to pay TAX. Any documentation would be extremely helpful I tried to search for it but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I think it comes under fringe benefits. Hi all - I just got word that they have finally changed the quarantine laws and for any pets flying after 3rd Feb 2014, the minimum quarantine period will be just 10 days - massive relief to pets and owners alike! On the flip side though, our fur babies must now wait 180 days from the day their rabies bloods were taken, not 150, which for me is slightly bad news as its going to delay our move further. We applied for our 457's on the 20th September - our status hasnt changed from 'processing commenced'. After reading some of the other 457 threads, some people that applied back in June are still waiting so you id try and put it to the back of your mind for now if I were you! Easier said than done I know!
