  1. Just realised on my EOI I put the Ielts test report form number as my centre number by accident. Have submitted a new EOI should I just wait for this or should I just put correct number on when do visa form? thanks xx

  2. it means that as of about 4am uk time today, our 189 visas were granted :)

all we have to do now is sell the house, book the flights and land (and sell things, pack the house, inform 100's or people / companies, etc etc..), find somewhere to live, find a job,...

WOW yay CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is brill. What a quick turnaround :0 Made up for you. Too exciting, all the best :D

  3. yes we used an agent for all parts..

we had tons of paperwork for the skills assessment and proof of work history. I am not sure what was needed for the EOI but think this is just a lodgement and you do not have to prove what you are claiming. it is only when you come to lodge your visa you really need to get your ducks in a row!

Thanks Jon. Having a good look into it all. Yes loads of paperwork for skills assessment drove me mad!! suppose will see what results of that are and go from there. trying to keep on top of everything but definately gets overwhelming sometimes. Gosh i see you got ur results in a month for skills, God I pray I do as thinking gonna be about 8-10 wks. You have grants? Whats that?

  4. I anticipate that members of this forum will also be reviewing the actual documents the OP has available to support the claims being made in the EoI, particularly in the context of skilled work experience ... because that's what an agent would be doing.

    Best regards.

Thanks Alan. I would use an agent without a doubt if I wasn't trying to scrape every penny together to apply asap (although be worth its weight in gold if god forbid I make a mistake!!) Is it similar documentation for eoi as skills assessment would you think or do you have to present a lot more? Thanks in advance :)

  5. I have to say using an agent was the best for us - as others have said, the skill select was the hard part, but having an agent ensured that the documents used for the EOI were correct and the items lodged for the visa were also complete and what we said we were claiming tied up to what we claimed and lodged against - and paid a small fortune to the immi department to. Getting the lodgement part wrong is the one area where you will feel it as you have now paid your money.

This is where I think a registered agent added additional value..

    Just my 2 cents worth..

This is interesting Jon defo worth more than 2 cents ;) I need to know all sides of the discussion as definately don't want to get any part wrong esp eoi or visa app. I have done the skills assessment myself and did you use an agent for the whole process and out of interest was a lot of your information/evidence needed for eoi similar to what you had to submit for skills assessment? Have had a very reasonable offer to complete remainder of application for us so was just wondering. Tia

  6. We've done it all ourselves so far and can vouch for the fact that skills assessment was by far the most painful bit to complete, so if you've done that, i wouldnt worry about getting an agent now. This forum is great for those tricky questions and some reassurance!! :)

Thanks peaches, I was hoping the skills assessment was the hardest bit.. Yay to continuing the rest of the application myself :) xx

  7. Yes I'd agree. Do it yourself. Save the money as its quite straightforward. The only thing I would add-thats if you don't have a complex situation that would benefit from the advice of an agent. Visa app is a lot easier than i thought it woulkd be. Good luck.

Thanks for this, definately could do without the cost of the agent (even though wasn't too bad for remainder of process). Esp helpful wiv advice can ask on here if get stuck and not too complex :)

  8. Yeah i would go ahead n do yourself. .I did n had no problems...i found visa the easiest part compared to skills assess etc...you could speak to couple of agents..alot give initial consultation free..i did this n realised I knew everything they were telling me from my own research so gave me confidence that I didn't need them...my visa was straight forward though with no complications

Thanks Lorna thats how I feel just wanted to check. I think mine is pretty straightforward but thought people on here would say if visa process was especially hard. Gonna give it a go :) x

  9. Hi all I've submitted my skills assessment to vetassess so just waiting on results. Debating whether to get agent to complete rest of my stuff ie EOI and visa application or would you say I've done alot so be ok now? Asking those who've done the process themselves? many thanks xx

  10. Hi there I was wondering for skills assessment for vetassess if I can provide employment evidence for current place of work (been there 9 yrs)

or do I have to include evidence ie ref from all my previous workplaces? Many thanks x

  11. Good idea to include your tax returns, yes the notary public is a weird one ha! ha! As for being a therapist, I'm sure there will be plenty of jobs out there. When I worked in Oz 10 years ago their community dental service for kids was pretty much therapist lead.

I'm hoping to move to Melbourne as I have friends, who are normal people, living there. Where are you hoping to move to?

Ah wow u have already worked out there so you obviously liked it ;) Friends who are normal ie non-dental?? haha. Where did you study?

I know it sounds bad but I only mainly work with adults, so the thought of working with loads of kids mmm :S haha, I may pass and stick to the hyg lol... I was thinking Perth or Brisbane. Got friends all over in Sydney, Perth and Adelaide but just getting drawn to Perth. A friend of a friend is in Melbourne and says its amazing!! Always comes out as top city in the world doesn't it :) Got my ielts in 2 wks. Look outside and its p*ssing down, bring it on...

  12. Is your friend a notary public? As far as I am aware the Australian Dental Council will only accept documents certified by a notary public or justice of the peace if the applicant is currently working outside of Oz. I would also get 2 or three copies of each document certified as you may need them again when you apply to AHPRA as I've been told the ADC don't like to share documents.

As for being self employed I would get your accountant to provide you with a letter stating they prepared your accounts and copies of your accounts rather than giving them a copies of your bank statements.

I am a dentist currently awaiting the results of my skills assessment.

Thanks for this Cee. I will definately check if she is a notary public (whatever that is lol) and good idea to get a few done so have them if needed.

I have tax returns that the tax office sent me re self employed not just bank statements, I was just going to stick some in for more evidence.. I have always done my own tax as my sil was an accountant pre baby and helped me do it.

There's loads dentist jobs, what area are you thinking? I'm a therapist but can see it being a bit of a grey area (did all the restorations at work luckily as dentist only wanted cosmetic work) but can see if being different in Oz I think, so just going to go as hygienist, prob my best bet and safer option. Are u using an agent? A hyg I know is over there now and just waiting to sit practical, she passed her theory. All be worth it, I can't wait ;)

  13. I think a solicitor is fine and if you search the forum other people have used solicitors successfully in the past.

I would definitely get bank and tax statements certified, not sure if the reference needs to be certified but if your friend is willing just get it done. If you don't get some docs certified that your assessor requires, they will simply ask for these and give you time to sort it out, so don't stress about it too much as my communications with Vetassess were helpful and polite.

Aww thanks for that defo reassuring. Out of interest did you do it alone or use an agent? Hopefully you won't be waiting too long, exciting times :)

  14. When I got my docs notarised for Vetassess the notary stamped each document with:

"I certify this document to be a true copy of the original sighted by ...."

he followed this with a handwritten signature and date, and his name and contact details were also on the stamp.

He also crimped each notarised document and I paid a flat fee of £60 for all the docs, but shop around as you may get it cheaper. I went with the Notary as he could do it the same day and I wanted to submit ASAP.

Don't forgot pay slips, P60s etc. for proof of employment.

Thanks Scouseman. I was going to ask a friend who's a solicitor is that OK? Also I am a self employed dental hygienist so have tax returns as well as bank statements and letter from the dental practice I work. Should I get all these certified? Many thanks :)

  15. Hi all, I have gathered all my documentation to send to vetassess for skills assessment. To certify my documents I know it can be a solicitor but I can't find what they have to write to certify the document or is it just to be signed and stamped? Do I just photocopy my documents and then I presume stamped means a stamp from their law firm?? The documents that need certifying are just proof of identity, qualification award certificate and academic transcript. Is that all? Many thanks guys x

  16. Hi all,

Im applying for 189 skilled migration, just in process of getting skills verified by Vetassess. Ben wondering partner usually works (managerial or contractor for banks), but lately has been unofficial carer for ill family member. We did not claim any carer allowance or benefits and was just wondering if anyone will request info of what partner has been working as

or is it just the person applying for the visa?

    many thanks xx

  17. Tax returns and bank statements may not necessarily prove that you are working in the nominated occupation. Depending on the occupation, there may be other documentary evidence which can be provided to show that you are working and being paid for work in the nominated occupation (and performing the required tasks for the occupation which is what DIBP are looking for) - for example, in some occupations you may have entered into contracts with clients/customers - you could include copies of some of these; or for other occupations, there may be people or organisations who you regularly do work for, and in these circumstances, letters or stat decs from these people can confirm that you perform the tasks associated with the occupation that DIBP are looking for and that you get paid for performing the occupational tasks which DIBP are looking for evidence of. Tax returns and bank statements will show that you are earning money, but you should try to show that the money is being earned performing the specified tasks of the nominated occupation.

Thanks for the help. I am a dental hygienist and work for Bupa so have to go through vetassess to get my skills assessed. I have a transcript etc of my degree, contract of employment from Bupa and work history duties etc ie employment evidence. I know I have to sit an exam in Australia once my visa or EOI is accepted. Can a dentist certify my documents and what documents do you have to get certified? Many thanks x
