  1. Hi blobbly1000, thanks for that...I have decided to go with jetpets so hearing this from you has made me feel better. So far, so good!
  2. I'm in the same position, same age and circumstances, ie no kids, and I have decided to return home to be closer to mum and family, after 27 years! I'm too a little worried about work, but I'm sure something will turn up. It's taken me nearly two years to come to this decision, in the end I knew if I didn't do it I would regret it. Only another 5 weeks and I'll be home.....I'm looking forward it. Good luck with your decision and go with your heart.
  3. Hi all, can anyone help me make a decision here. I'm returning to the UK next month and whist I've got everything sorted out for me, I'm struggling on making a decision on a pet carrier for my shih-tzu dog. I've had 5 quotes, the money isn't the problem, it's trying to pick the right one. We are currently in Perth, but because of his breed (considered high risk) there are only two airlines that will take him, Qantas & Emirates, but Emirates won't take them between April &n October, so it has to be Qantas, which again, isn't really the problem. Depending on which carrier I use, he has to fly to either Sydney or Melbourne, stay overnight, then fly to Dubai, stop when they refuel, they don't take them off the plane, then onto Heathrow. It's such a long flight for the wee boy! He's 11 years old. I've got down it to two, Jetpets & Pet Carriers, both companies have great recommendations on their website....they all did actually, but they're not going to put in the bad ones are they?!...I emailed them all with questions, back and forth...not one of them picked up a phone to talk to me, which I find a bit disturbing, what has happened to customer service? You would think that they would know how much of an emotional thing this is to do, that they would pick up the phone to assure you, talk through it with you....especially if they want the business! Anyway, has anyone transported their beloved pet home with either carrier and how was the experience? I would really appreciate any comments, I know each experience can be different and I'm sure both companies look after the pets, but just actually hearing from someone would be wonderful. He's my best friend and I only want to make the best decision for him. Thanks heaps!
  4. Can anyone please tell me if they have taken a shih-tzu back to the UK, or any dog that is considered high risk?? I've been given quotes, price not the issue, it's the routes, I'm really not sure which is best. I'm in Perth, so he has to go to Sydney, stay overnight, then onto London via Dubai, where they don't have a comfort stop just stay on the plane while they refuel ... or via Vancouver, where he does have a comfort stop then put on a plane to London. I really can't decide which would be the best option. He's 10 years old and is quite an anxious dog, noise frightens him. Once I flew him from Adelaide to Perth and a couple of months after the flight he had a sore ear, it turned out that his ear drum had been damaged. The vet couldn't tell me whether it had been the flight or an infection. I'm what could be called a 'helicopter' dog owner....lol....he's like my child, he's even been to doggy day care! I feel so bad having to put him through this journey because I want to go home (after 14 years!) but there is no other option! Any advice would be really, really helpful....thanks!!
  5. Thanks Jean95, I did start with a kitchen cupboard last night....only a few more to go!
  6. I had to smile when I read that, yes, the dog has always been put before me...lol. You're right, once I get him sorted I can work around that, thanks!
  7. Hi, I've finally decided to move back to the UK, just myself and my little Shih-Tzu dog, but finding it all a bit overwhelming. Having to sell off everything, time it all so that I can just walk away and get on the plane, is it me or does everyone go through this? Feel like I'm walking round in circles, not sure whether to book the flight first, dreading putting my fluffy boy on the plane...do I send him on the same flight or do I send him after by a day so I can be there waiting for him. Trying to work out how many boxes I need for my personal stuff, is it worth taking furniture back, electrical stuff....I'm guessing not? I've had a couple of quotes for the transportation of my dog, looks like it will be around the $3k mark but haven't actually spoke to them yet. Any advice on where to start with all of this? I start to feel anxious when I think about it, never mind trying to do something, lol
