  2. Thought this would be a good place to start for advice although I think a phone call to British Embassy is a must. We are returning to uk for good and need advice on UK passport. Mine is still valid so problem there but my hubby and child's passports have expired. Do we need to get them here ( at great expense) or can we get them after arriving in UK. I know we can enter on an Australian passport (I did it last year) but I had a return ticket (not that I remember them checking this). Has anyone else had experience with this? thanks
  3. Thanks PomQueen. The Hulix has done 294,000 Kms.

  6. We are poms moving back to UK and our house is for sale along with cars and other furniture items. House is about 1 hr. south of Brisbane. 22-30 Warbler Court, Greenbank (part of Spring Mountain Estate). It is about 10mins from the new Springfield Lakes which has great schools, New University USQ, Orion shopping mall, new train line into Brisbane CBD due for completion end of this year. New hospital development and much more right on your doorstep. The house is steel frame modern feel 320m2 and set on 4 beautiful acres. 4/6 bedrooms. When house is sold we will also have other items of furniture for sale and may even negotiate to include them in the sale of the house (if the price is right:wink:) We are ready to go back to UK and the sooner we can sell the better. Look forward to meeting you at our home inspections!
  7. Hi Kelly. We live about 45 mins in land from Pimpama. Greenbank south of Brisbane. We may have our on house on the market ( maybe even sold) by then ( wishful thinking ) so will be getting rid of even more stuff. Keep in touch nearer the time and we will let you know what we have. Best of luck with your move down under Angela
  8. Good luck with your move. Hope all goes well. Can't wait to be in your shoes with house sold and tickets booked.
  9. Lol, if you saw our old house you would understand. Beautiful old cottage. But I guess we don't want to go backwards but onwards and upwards. Hope to go home and find something better.
  10. Sounds like us we are spending all our spare time working on our house to get it on the market. Every day is a step closer. You will get there and so will we. Only down side if we back to UK this side of Xmas is we will come out of one winter and go straight into another lol. It will be worth it though.
  11. We are at the start of our move back home. First we had to go firm on our decision. Now we are full steam ahead to make it happen. It is true that it isn't quite as easy to make the decision to move back. I don't regret coming but think our time is up. We are looking very hard at what area we will move back to. We have even thought of buying our old house back. Lol. I think when you start considering going home there must be reason. My advice, go with your gut instinct. I think we are pretty realistic that it won't be easy but living here is no longer easy and will have the support of our families back home. Watch this space and will keep you posted on our next adventure
  12. I hear you loud and clear. We ( myself, hubby and 2 daughters) have lived here for also nearly 7 years and are busy planning our way back to UK. Not made many friends in that time. I think that is the hardest part, trying to fit in. We can't wait to return. I went back alone a few months ago and seriously didn't want to get back on the plane. Would love to be back by Xmas but still have a house and lots of stuff to sell. Busy and exciting times ahead! I also have my BIG birthday coming up soon and would nothing more than to spend it with family and old friends. Good luck to you and everyone else trying to settle here or back home.
  13. Hi to everyone, I am a bit behind the times as we have lived here in Oz for nearly 7 years now and I am only just joining this chat forum. Now we plan on going back home to the UK. Had enough of the sun and sights of Oz and want to return home to all we know and love. Anyway just saying hi to you all and wish you all the best down under and back home! Now I need to get on and sell our house (going to try privately first) and all our possessions (only taking bear minimum back) so any advice here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading my first (well actually second) post.
  14. Hi Dianne, Welcome to OZ. We are looking to sell up and move back to UK (hopefully this side of Xmas but need to sell our house first). We are doing up our house at the moment and are reducing our stuff considerably. We are only going to ship our personal items back with and selling everything else. We haven't actually sold our house yet so can't sell our cars or white goods just yet but do have camping gear, inflatable beds, bits and pieces/some kitchen ware/furniture etc. We live on the South side of Brisbane so if you want to come and see what we have get in touch. Haven't read this whole thread so not sure if you have children, we have 2 girls 10 and 17 so even have games, toys to get rid of. Good luck with your move and wish you all the best of luck. Did I mention we were selling? You don't want to buy a house by any chance do you??
