  1. Thank you for the advice everyone, some good points, Brian I did not realise you had to have a sponsor organised from the UK, I assumed you can do this from Oz, like said in the first post, 1 month to find a company, if I cannot, nothing ventured nothing gained, I have a friend who did this in SA, found a firm, started work in January and was issued is PR in June,so it can be done, perhaps a bit of luck is required.
  2. Hi Brian, thank you for your reply, its nice to hear from someone who has been there and done it, I think the visa I will be trying to get is the 187 visa which enables you to apply for PR straight away, my family would be coming over and would need the benefits of PR, 2 years would be to long with no help with 4 kids, the 187 is regional, so WA, South and NT, so realistically Perth or Adelaide, not so good to hear that adelaide is quiet for work, I was going to try Ken Hall plumbers first of all and other large firms after that, if no joy in Adelaide I will give Perth a go, Brian any info is appreciated and ultimatley do you think this is achievable or do you think I am being a bit optimistic, _please inform of anything you think might help.
  3. Thank you Nickandpaula, i realise this would be the case, i think i would settle for that if i could find a sponsor, i guess i will need a bit of luck. thanks again
  4. Hello, I have posted on here before and was wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect on my plumbing skills assessment and cheekily asking what I should be revising, I started this whole process nearly 2 years ago when I had just turned 44, due to a number of factors I was unable to continue with the process, the main one being plumber being moved to schedule 2 for Perth, hindsight is a wonderful thing and yes I should have continued the process as South Australia was still a option for plumbers, so now I am about to turn 46 and my only option is to find a sponsor, I have read on here that this is pretty much impossible but if I dont try I will always be wondering what if, so I have my skills assessment in September and all being well I will be going to Perth in January and knocking on every plumbing contractors door that I can find with, CV's all my plumbing tickets, 12 years worth of experience and some good job references that I had when i was in Australia 15 years ago on a WHV and if that does not work, well at least I tried, so if any plumbers can remember how the day went and dont mind giving me a little insight I would be very appreciative, thank you.
  5. Thank you, CalnGary, i can only try, at least then if it doesn't work, i know i tried.
  6. Hi Rohyett, i guess it all boils down to luck, being in the right place at the right time, i have got lots of experince with plumbing, some building knowledge and can drive plant, also two references from previous OZ employers who offered me jobs, so gonna knock on as many doors between Geraldton and Albanyas and see where it gets me.
  7. Hi Rohyett, thank you for the reply, did you read the post, 1, why would I want a sponsor with a PR visa, 2, I did say I was coming over in July to try and find a sponsor and the wuestion was when I am in Australia, would there be a chance of getting a sponsor,
  8. Hello everyone, I wonder if anyone could tell me if plumbing companies in Australia still sponsor UK plumbers, I know that the criteria changed a few years ago that made getting a sponsor harder, I have my ielts results and skills assesment all done but having turned 45 it is the only realistic option to try and get a job sponsor and a 187 visa, I was planning to travel over in July/August and contact as many plumbing companies as possible, any info wouldbe appreciated.
  9. Hi Tina2, i wonder if you might know if Toowoomba is classified as regional Queensland, it is not very easy to see what areas are, all that my agent told me was thay Gympie was and so was Cairns, any help would be welcome, thank you.
  10. Thank you Garyupnorth, is it because of the cost you recommend the 190 or is their more reasons?
  11. Thank you for your reply, I have read so many post of plumbers claiming they can not find work that I was begging to wonder why they would be issuing visas to families if they stood the risk of not being able to survive.
  12. Hi everyone, I am currently going through the visa application process for a skilled migration visa as a plumber, I am finding the IELTS rather hard, to be honest and may have to consider the 489 visa for me and my family. What I would like to know is, if we moved to Mandurah or another regional area and I struggled to find plumbing work, would I be allowed to travel into Perth to find work or would I have to stay in the regional area and risk not finding work. Thank you.
  13. Hi everyone, Could anyone please tell me if Frankston or Mornington are regional victoria. Thankyou.
  14. Hello everyone. This is my first post so I hope it makes sense.i am at the early stages of our application for a 190 visa to Perth. The application is for me , my wife and three young children,I am a qualified plumber and my wife is aat qualified, due to my age (44) I would need to score 20 on the IELTS test, something I am not very confident about, alternatively with 10 points we would qualify for a 489. I know Mandurah is a city we could live in ,but is there any where nearer to Perth? We would both potentially be working ,but I am a little worried if the work was not there, would we get any help? Any advice on Mandurah ,work, 489 visas ,would be welcome thankyou.
