  2. Hi, Looking to find some Salaries for my wife's occupation paralegal but prior to that legal secretary. Anyone who is a Brisbane paralegal/legal secretary's that can advise on annual salary or per hour salary would be great. Looking on seek and google it could be 55-70k, is this about right?
  3. Thanks for that info. Do you know much about Childcare in the area I found the 3 below in the area, but not sure how long the waiting time is to get them in. Thats good to hear about the school Early Learning Centre Augustine Heights, Kindy Patch - Springfield, and The Lakes Early Learning Centnot
  4. Info I have found on schools are Springfield Lakes = Springfield Lakes state school (primary) then depending where you stay as a line is drawn through the middle and its either Woodcrest State College or Springfield Central state High School Augustine Heights = Augusta State School then Redbank Plains State High School I notice there is a Springfield Central State and Springfield Central State High Schol but not much to show on google maps on Springfield Central housing is this is the middle of development as I see there is also a uni? North Lakes = North Lakes State College Mango Hill = Mango Hill State School and then North Lakes State College Alaska thanks for the info I will be looking at state school well to start with anyway Lastonealive Ill have a look at Redlands
  5. Thanks for the info, I had a quick look at Mango Hill and I will add that to the list looks nice and affordable too. Having the rail link it a big thing for us so I think I'll look more into those 2 areas. Keep the info coming, and hopefully someone can help on schools
  6. Hey Thanks for the info, thats good to know then it won't take as long as I thought so 75mins it the bad days you get now and again. Even better that there are transport links. What are the primary and high schools in the area? I do prefer the look of springfield from what I've seen on websites and google.
  7. Hi, Can anyone give me any info on Springfield lake & North Lakes. Are they good areas to live? Are the schools Primary and High good? Is there a lot of expats? How do you get form there to Brisbane city...is there a train station close or good bus service? I'd expect at the distance it will take 30-35 min off peak and 60-75 mins at peak times to get into the city by car? Thanks so much
  8. Hi looking to start post up again. I am now looking at going with 2 kids in nursery. So looking for families with similar set up to me to reply. Do you get both childcare benefit and rebate as well as family tax benefit? The estimates below seem very high? I will be full time on 70k my wife 15k (12 hrs a week) 2 kids in nursery 2 days a week at $400 a week child care rebate $589 child benefit $553 family tax benefit $468 (looks we would also get part b but not 100%, figure is just part A) thanks
  9. I am looking for some info on Family Tax Benefit I just did this quick quote based on myself earning about 70k and my wife 24.5k as she would hope to work 20hrs a week during school term time and within school hrs, and out of term time just 10 hrs a week. Does this seem about right to any families, this is on 2 kids at primary school? I am just curious as too what we would be entitled too in Oz. Fortnightly estimate Family Tax Benefit Part A $129.78 Family Tax Benefit Part $12.04 Estimated Family Assistance payment
  10. Hi Thanks, so from that info then my $300 a month would be a fine budget maybe not even as much over the course of the year, maybe $200-250 would give a bit of leeway if needed. Another quick question is that I by no way want to depend on goverment hand outs and see this as an extra to put away for our kids, I know here in the UK that we get approx £81 a month for 1 child, most familys get this that both work on average salaries does Australia have a similar thing? Its not the care rebate etc its just if parents get a payment for similar? Thanks
  11. Hi, Can anyone share with me what the approx cost of state primary schools are a year in particularly in Point Cook. Not looking for private or Catholic fees Would $300 a month cover 2 kids at Primary school for fee's, trips and uniforms and some after school clubs? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the replies KazzE AND Matjones I was more interested for general info, and also the missus was slightly more curious, plus we have a young baby and a dog...so just generally looking for info.
  13. Point cook is looking like a strong option for us to move too, due to the affordability. Just wondering what bugs and pests people in point cook deal with on a daily basis in their homes, the main ones below spring to mind? Cockroaches White Tails Huntmans Redback Gecko
  14. Thanks for the replies and info, I'd also agree with the 2.5 guide
  15. Leanda – Thanks for the info and heads up, I had read about the waiting lists so great to actually hear it form someone thanks again. Wellers and whitehead -I may have got this mixed up will need to look into it again Dmjg – Thanks for the fee cost so by the sounds of it I need to increase this too $90-100. Also well said in regards to the other posts comments, sadly we have to work these things out especially when kids are involved. Gwolst77 – thanks for your figures, and info. I seem to be not far off…well apart from the health insurance. I take it that is a family of 4 cover? Basically what I am aiming with our jobs is my wife to work 2 days a week about $25 an hour and I am aiming for $75k a year + super, working it out on a online tax calculator that would bring us in a joint income of $6129 not including and child care rebate or benefit that would be extra So out of interest what is the going rate for health care for 2 adults and a baby?
  16. Hey, Thanks for that, so helpful. If you dont mind me asking what is your daily rate for nursery before anything is taken off for one child are you about $75 a day or more like $100? Just looking over it briefly just now the figures appear there abouts and you said you have already deducted the child rebate and benefit....one thing that seems way off on mines then is you have private health insurance at $230 a month and I have it at $40... not sure how I have gone so wrong?
  17. Hi, Looking at the cost of living in Melbourne suburbs for me and my wife plus a baby. I have spent a bit of time looking in costs of living and think I am nearly there with the below, can anyone advise? Our set up would be renting a 3 bed house somewhere like point cook, with me working full time, my wife working 2 days a week and our kid in nursery 2 days a week. Running 1 car at the moment and buying the cars outright i.e no loan I have not taken any child benefit or rebate into account as this can be an extra So just a run down again...This is based on monthly outgoings to live a fairly ok lifestyle in a 3 bed house at $400 a week, family of 2 plus baby working 1 x full time and 1 x part time Please let me know if something is too high, too low or if I've missed anything Rent $1,733 ($400 a week) Water $70 Elec $93 Gas $50 Foxtel $60 Broadband/phone $60 Food & Toiletries $1,000 Rates $0 Life Insurance $75 Mobile x 2 $120 Car Payment $0 (bought for cash) Home Insurance $60 Health Insurance $40 Child Care $650 (2 days a week at at $75 a day) Travel Fares $170 (traveling point cook to city) Car Maintence/INS/Road Tax $200 (1 car) Money for work $150 Fuel $200 Cash $800 (this is spending for all of us a month on activities, clothes, going out, day trips, hair cuts...your everyday stuff) Savings (whatever remains at the end of the month)
