  1. Hello Veronique, excellent info as usual. I'm just being lazy, but what is a HAP number? Something to do with Health ............?? Not income Tax related I don't think. But, just how long does it take for immi to answer the phone, assuming the correct department is located, and emails are slow. Just shows how many queries they have to deal with though.

    Cheers C.

Hi Carob HAP is Health Assessment Portal it's your ID number you need to organise your medical . Supplied byDIAC. I believe since late 2012 all medicals in uk must be done electronically. It is supplied by your case officer so who knows when we will get it. I think immi have stopped answering the phone and replying to emails we have been waiting for a reply to an email for nearly 4 weeks.

  2. Hi Folks We are around the 13 month mark with our 173 application ,has anyone recently arranged their medicals prior to the allocation of a Case Officer. If so could you possibly share the process.I have read that this cant be done without a HAP number (whatever that is) .

If this is possible we are considering arranging this prior to the Christmas holidays, could possibly shave off a few weeks off this increasing wait period. Thanks Kev

We received our acknowledgement middle of September for a 143 visa application lodged June 14 this year .We have been instructed to arrange medicals 12 months after lodgement date which will be 14th June 2014 . On current trends you will not br assigned a case officer for possibly another 2 months !!! you could contact immi by phone or email and request a HAP number. Hope this helps good luck

  3. Hi I have been looking at your posts we are putting our Cpv 143 in shortly so interested in your timeline, live in Hampshire and the housing market seems to be improving here. We have already had lots of discussions about when to sell the house difficult as we don't want to spend loads on renting I'm sure everyone feels the same! It's great everyone shares info on here

Hi Harris, Our timeline as follows for 143 visa

    application lodged June 14th 2013

Money taken out of the bank straight away

    Acknowledgement 13 weeks later

included with the acknowledgement - info re Assurance of support, instructions to email Form 80 and action dates for police clearance and medicals

Proposed dates for Medicals after June 2014 Police, Clearance after April 2014 - specific instructions to retain until requested by case officer. But seeing you don't get your medical assessment results as they are sent electronically to IMMI its a bit confusing. At least the dates give you a vague idea although it could still be months before you are allocated a case officer. Hope this helps

  4. Veronique, congratulations, you are now on the list. Thank goodness DIAC didn't take the time they originally said to find your application. So only a few days behind me now, just waiting for Tabitha to come on the listing with us. Are you still ploughing on with Form 80?

Hi carob - we started form 80 after we read your last post it's a bit of a pain but it is ready to go. So thanks for the advice cheers Ronnie

  5. Hi.We considered both 143 and 173 cpv we researched both also contacted parents@gov.au who informed us "that the grant of temporary residence under parent visa 173 is by no means a guarantee that permanent residence under parent visa subclass 143 will be granted" I couldn't stand the stress of waiting two years to know whether we were permanent. Also your medicals are two years from applying for your visa which could provide more stress. We opted for the 173 as the best option.

Hope this helps you to make a decision.

sorry we opted for the permanent contributory visa 143

  6. Hello all,

Reading this thread with interest thanks. But I do have a quick question. When looking at the FEES for the cpv, it looks like you can't get a permanent CPV without applying for the temporary first. Is that right?? I know it makes sense to apply for the temp first to spread out the cost, but if you can afford it, why not go straight to the permanent visa?

This really is speculative at this stage for us, as we are in the early stages of looking to move to Aus. Lots of research being done by us and my parents in law!!!

    Thank you.

  7. Hi can anyone explain the benefits of applying for a Contributory Aged parent visa rather than a Contributory Parent visa. I know for the aged PV you have to apply from Aus - but how can you stay in aus if the tourist visa is inappropriate ? They both cost the same so not sure which is the best.

Can you access medicare whilst you are waiting for your visa to be granted.

  8. We have just applied for the Contributory Parent Visa subclass 143 the cost is

1st instalment $2,060 second instalment $42,220 for each applicant. When 2nd instalment is due (about 1 - 2 years after paying first instalmen). You have to pay you assurance of support $10,000 for a single applicant or $14.000 for 2 applicants.

Expensive ? but it will be worth it!
