  1. Thanks everyone. I wasn't worried about the state education system before I went as research we did suggested it was good. It was the number of people living there who told us it wasn't very good while we were over there. There is another Australia Expo in October and I think we will go again to speak to Down Under Tradies and get some more information about salaries, etc. I had a couple of interviews when we were over there and can get a good job but the other half would still need to do something.
  2. My husband and I got our permanent visa in 2011 and went to validate it that same year. We went to Perth for 3 weeks as we have friends there and we have to live in WA as our visa is state sponsored. We had a nice time, but I was pleased to be home. My hubby wanted to go but wanted me to commit to going forever. I couldn't do that at the time as there were elements of the lifestyle over there I wasn't sure about and the state education worried me a bit (we have two girls aged 5 and 2). I felt under a lot of pressure to make a decision due to decisions having to be made with my hubbys uk job. So I panicked and said I didn't want to go. 18 months later I have changed my mind and realised that we could have a really nice life over there and do better than we ever could here (hubby is a sparky). The problem is my hubby doesn't believe me and although he says he really wants to go. What to do?
