  1. Hi expats, This is a quick question. I have obtained my PR visa but I also have a current biz visa valid until the end of next year. Do I need to cancel this biz visa before I make my first PR entry? Or the PR visa will be the default visa the immigration will choose at the time of the entry? Please kindly advise and many thanks!
  2. in my opinion, you couldnot do anything by calling DIAC on this since you may not have a CO yet. again, since you are not claiming point from your wife, this shouldn't be of a big issue. at least from the letter I received from the CO, I was given the option to pay even I ticked "functional". I just need to write to inform them. We will decide if my partner wants to sit the test. if not, we will write to them asking for the payment link. I will keep you informed of how we proceed on this. Cheers
  3. vp3, I may have a similar situation here. at the time of application, I ticked my partner's English as "functional". But as a non English speaker, he is not quite sure about his capability of obtaining that 4.5, and maybe doesn't want to take that test. My CO has been assigned and in the requested doc list he sent to me, regarding the Partner English Evidence, it says that I can inform them if we don't want to sit the test. We will then pay for the second installment fee AUD4050. But as precious posts suggested, as long as you can provide the CO with evidence of test booking before the end of first 28 days, you should have no problem of getting an extension for your wife to better prepare for the test.

  5. i am with the same team.
  6. it shouldn't affect your application too much. At least, one of you is open and your family members can give some statutory statement about the relationship. The cultural intolerance can very well justify the reason why your partner is not open about his orientation. As long as you can provide enough relevant evidence against the de facto partner booklet of DIAC website, you should be fine,
  7. i vaguely remember IELTS result can only be sent to educational organizations. but again I could be wrong. I almost panicked a while back when I thought I had lost my test result. but after some frenzy sweeping, I found it right behind the drawer of my cabinet. so keep trying to locate it, it will be much easier. good luck!

    NAATI Test??

with your ielts score, you should have no problem of passing the paraprofessional level one. in fact, you dong need to go go Australia for the test. as far as I understand, translator tests are held around the globe. you just have to check their website:http://www.naati.com.au. it is only the interpreter test taking place in Australia or New Zealand.
  9. as far as i know, they wont send a second one. it is a very strange and unreasonable term. that is why it is strongly recommended that the test report should be scanned and electronically kept. other experts please correct me if I am wrong.
  10. thank you very much! dies it mean that when CO asks for the evidence of my partner's English, I can inform him that we are happy to pay the extra 4 grands. and then he will give us a link for the payment?
  11. Dear veterans, can I take some of your time on a gnawing question of mine? it is about my partner's English. at the time of lodging, I have full confidence that he will surely pass the ielts. So i chose his English as "functional". but now as he is too busy with work and didnt have any time to prepare for the test, so I started to have some doubt on his obtaining a score of 4.5 in ielts. CO hasn't been assigned in our case. and now my worry is if he failed to get 4.5, will the CO hold me accountable for the false info that I have provided that my partner has "functional English" ? Will it be taken as a lie and have some negative impact on our application? please advise...I am so worried now:(
  12. this is another round of test on patience. wish us all the very best!
  13. since you've listed them as non migrating dependents, how come CO is still asking for medicals? maybe some senior can advise.
