  1. Thanks so much pumpkin I will look this up now see if I can get more info, I wasnt sure what it was called to search for it.
  2. Thanks MaggieMay for your reply Do you know can he be added to a 489 AFTER this has been granted or is it too late?
  3. Hi I have been granted a 489 sponsered visa, My son from a previous relationship was added to this as a non migrating dependant. He is still at school and we wouldnt have been able to take him out to activate the visa. Just thinking ahead and was wondering when the time comes to apply for the 887 can he be added to this visa as a migrating dependant (obviously with his mothers permission) Thanks in advance
  4. Thanks for your reply pumpkin, that's great we will definitely not be working when staying with my uncle and making the move 2 weeks later max! Was just a bit worried about not arriving into the correct state!
  5. Hi We have been granted our 489 visa for south Australia and have to be out by the start of jan, we are thinking of flying out at the start of jan and staying with my uncle in Queensland to visit for 2 weeks before flying to Adelaide and starting a short term rental. Our 2 reasons for doing this are 1, we want to visit our family and feel it would be easier before we get jobs, and secondly we feel that things will be so quiet in January it would be better to start our job hunt at the end of January? does anyone know would we be allowed to do this, or must we only stay in southAustralia ?? thanks in advance
  6. Hi Thanks for the info, I havent tried to contact airlines directly yet, thanks for the info :-)
  7. Hi Just wondering if anyone has use the sta travel multi flex and if they have found it works well. We are planning on going to Perth now at the start of August and looking to fly back home the next August but want the flexibility of been able to return earlier if we had to. I have spoken with STA and tey have advised most airlines don't do open return tickets They have priced Dublin to Perth with emirates for £800.00 plus £99.00 for a multiflex pass which would allow 3 date changes free of charge except for difference in fare price. It sounds good but Im a bit worried there might be a big increase in fare price. Does anyone know of airlines that do open returns with no added costs? Thanks
  8. Hi WRussell Thanks for the reply yes I do understand there are other ways of failing, my questiong was probably badly worded. I just wanted to know was I reading correctly and would I be considered to have a "substantial record" My sentences are quite old but i am now looking into getting a migration agent.
  9. Thanks for the response, we are actually thinking of using a migration agent just wondered if anybody had a similar situation and may shed some light but I suppose all cases are different.
  10. Looking at skillsselect website: A person is deemed to have a substantial criminal record if they have been: sentenced to a term of imprisonment for 12 months or more sentenced to two or more terms of imprisonment (whether on one or more occasions), where the total of those terms is two years or more I have had 3 x 6 months suspended sentences, 2 of which are over 12 years old and 1 was back in 2006/2007. Would I pass the character requirement as my total sentencing does not total 2 years or more and also I have never had a single 12 month sentence? Thanks
  11. Hi I am just at the very start of the long process to emigrate to oz. I am a carpenter/joiner by trade and am qualified with Nvq levels 1-4. I am just in the process of starting to gather the documents to get my skills assessed, I was under the impression I needed to do this through vetassess, can anybody confirm this? Or can I go directly through TRA as I am qualified? I have looked for the answer but I think I am just confusing myself lol!! I turn 30 in August so 8 am applying for a whv in the mean time, but as I will only be eligible for 1 year I wanted to try to gain a more permanent visa, would you recommend starting the process now, or is it better to wait until I am in Australia, I will be going over in December on the whv Thanks
