  1. Fantastic, thanks very much that's the kind of thing i've been struggling to find :)
  2. Hi guys, I'm desperately trying to find some more information regarding my occupation. I have been a Mobile Crane Operator in the UK for nearly 10 years now and hold a CPCS (Blue Experienced Competent) card. I have extensive experience on Demags/Kato's Tadano's and Liebherr's from 20Tonne to 130Tonne I'm trying to find out whether CSCS and CPCS is recognised in Australia, and if not is there a conversion that can be done? Or would i literally have to do all the crane training again? Being a crane driver in the UK also means that you need a HGV Class 2, and I've seen some mixed reports about whether or not this too is recognised/honored or not. Any info anyone has on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Thank you both very much for the replies! To be honest the working holiday visa does seem to be the best way I think, although I'm not too sure on whether or not I will qualify for another working visa. I say "another" because 4 years ago I qualified for one and went to Australia for a month working for my uncles company in New South Wales, but because I ended my trip early and didn't stay for the stated amount of time required I don't now know if I can get another one. but having said that that was 4 years ago. I will keep searching for different vacancies and hopefully I'll get something! Thanks guys! James
  4. First of all Hello everyone! My name is James 25 years old, I currently live in Ipswich in England and I've been giving some serious thought into maybe moving to Australia ( work situation permitting! ) I have the following skills along with experience and qualification to back them up. they are as follows: City & Guilds Qualified Level 2 Carpenter HGV Truck Driver Class 2 ( Rigid ) with ADR ( Dangerous Good License ) - 3 years experience and currently employed Qualified Roofer - 4 years experience City & Guilds Qualified IT Technician Level 3 These are the trade qualifications I have so far. At the moment I am currently working as a Dangerous goods tanker driver for Calor Gas. Now on to my question.. I have had a little read on the forum about the mining jobs situation currently in Australia. Some places seem to be advertising plenty of jobs for truck drivers down in the mines but then some people say that they are going through a bit of a tough time at the moment and are laying people off. I'm really just trying to get a better picture of what's available on the mining front. Ideally FIFO would suit me perfectly as I've heard a lot of Australian's are put off by this. The logistics side of the mining operations is what I am ideally looking at but if that's a no go then I was wondering if maybe some of my other qualifications might get my foot in the door. So far I have approaced people like BHP, Rio Tinto, Barrick and a few others but I don't really seem to get a definitive answer on whether they support a sponsorship scheme or not. If anyone could clear this up for me it would be much appreciated! Sorry for waffling on a bit! I hope you don't get too bored reading! thanks very much! James
