  1. Selling up and Departing the UK 7th Dec 2016 Arriving Perth 8th December, Heading down to Margaret River, for Christmas then heading up towards Bussleton/Bunbury to look for Work and somewhere to Live!!! But will continue into Perth and beyond if necessary! scary but you only live once!! Sal and Neil:ssign7:
  2. £1200 is the difference between these two cheapest quotes, one company wanted £10K its for a 40ft container and the volume is 1820 cu ft and I have checked and rechecked volume etc. the disparity in quotes from cheapest to dearest is unbelievable! So any help advice gladly received
  3. Getting ready for our move in December, after reams of quotes and hours of reading T & C's which might as well be in Martian! have narrowed down to 2 White & Co and Anglo Pacific, however massive difference in price, so does anyone have any recent good or bad experiences with either of these to help us make the decision!! The price difference is pretty huge, however keep finding negatives about both companies as well as positive's, just don't want to get stung once contract signed. With unforeseen "Shipping or Agent Charges, beyond our control" which leaves us open to all sorts!! So any help, advice much appreciated Visa granted 29/8/14 Dep Dec 6th - finally on our way!!!
  4. Thank you to all of you who replied, I have some hard info now and a path to go on, but it looks like I will be Tax Exempt for my Pension as it is for all Injured Veterans across the Crown according to the Document Links that I have been sent. Thank you for your help. Regards Neil24
  5. Nicky, Thank you for that link, I have downloaded the document and reading through it, as we all (Australian & NZ and UK Forces) come under serving the Crown, then it would seem the rules apply throughout regardless of where we live and no tax is applicable. which is brilliant from our point of view and a relief as the financial side of our plans depended on this quite a lot. I will now be able to pass it on to the Veterans Agency here who will be able to quote the document and ask the Australian Veterans Agency for confirmation and I can then have my War records etc transferred to them. Really appreciate your help. Kindest regards Neil
  6. Hi, My wife is an Australian Citizen and we are contemplating moving back to Perth WA, and her taking up employment there. I am a UK War Pensioner (recent conflicts!) and do not work as my pension provides enough income and I am deemed not fit enough to work, so we have switched roles and she is the breadwinner and I am the househusband, the pension in the UK is Tax Free, It is our intention to live with just my wife's earnings and to save my pension in a UK bank account, and transferring parts of it, if and when needed i.e. to buy/deposit for a house/car etc or to be used in an emergency, this is more or less the situation we do in the UK, mainly living off my wife's earnings which is more than adequate and using the pension as and when needed as a savings scheme for larger items. Complicated I know!, Will I be liable for Tax on it in Australia?, a. If we do not have it paid into an Australian Bank Account but keep it in the UK, where it will continue to be paid and saved into a UK Bank Account. Transferring when needed. b. Will I be liable for tax when/if we transfer any amounts/savings for e.g a house deposit/car etc. c. If I have it paid/transferred monthly into an Australian Bank Account will it be liable for Tax in Australia or is it still deemed Tax free as in the UK Told you it was complicated!!! I cannot get any answers here, as far as the Veterans Agency UK here is concerned I am a full UK War Veteran and my Pension will continued to be paid tax free until my death (hopefully a long way away!) as my injury has been set at a level deemed by them and independent doctors and is unlikely to ever change. I have already sourced the medication and costs that I will need when in Australia and sorted out most of the medical questions/care that I will need now and in the future, hopefully just the medication!! and I keep myself as fit as I can by exercise to reduce further debilitation and by maintaining a good lifestyle and diet. So it is just the financial question of my War Pension as I do not wish to get into any trouble with the Australian Authorities, but do not want to be hammered by tax unnecessarily. Any Veterans who have had similar problems or situations or anyone who can point me in the right direction to get the answer would be really appreciated, this move is important to us as we believe from our previous trips to Perth that my health would improve in the climate there. In anticipation thank you for any help Regards Neil
  7. Hi everyone, this is probably a dumb question but I have a Camping Gas Chef Stove which uses (depending on the regulator) either Butane or Patio gas can anyone tell me will it work using the LPG Bottles in OZ, need to know because there is no point in shipping it if it is not going to work. Understand I may have to buy a different regulator to fit to the bottle but trying to figure if the bottled gas heating values in OZ are similar to ours. tried looking on the net but now more confused than ever!!:twitcy: Cheers and any help would be appreciated regards Neil 24
