Hi, was hoping to settle in Melbourne. Okay cool as I'm a little confused as to what sort of work to look for for when I first arrive. There is a lot of info conflicting info online and its hard to figure out where to start. I thought I was done with college but looks like I'll be going back. So basically get work in a hotel and study like a madman for me plumbing licence? Thanks for the reply. ​Stu

Hello, Hopefully completing my VETASSESS next week and was wondering am I to expect an further training to work as a plumber in Oz? I'm hearing you need a licence? I am gas safe here and I know it will prob' mean bugger all out there but would like to continue as a gas fitter. Can anyone give me a heads up on what to expect please? cheers!!

Hi I have been using a small book called top tips for IELTS (approved by the British council). It breaks down all the sections and has been a huge help for myself. it also has a CD ROM thing with practice papers on it and will work with no internet connection. I went out of my mind revising for this poxy test. Waiting on my second lot of results to come through now. Good luck

Scrumpy mate, are you out in Oz now then? If so is there re training to be done to get a licence to plumb out there? Or can i go straight into employment? There is so many questions, wish i could just have a sit down with somebody with all the answers.

Ha ha! Yes doing it at the college of North London. OK I shall certainly look up on septic tanks and sprinkler systems. Have installed a few sprinkler systems but as for septic tanks, I wouldnt know where to start. looking forward to it as it is another step closer. Shall keep you posted Scrumpy-cheers buddy

Can anyone who has recently done the VETASESS general plumbing assessment please give me a quick summary of what to expect please? Im due to do it on the 8th of june and would like a little bit of background knowledge? thank you

Hello, have got to go through the whole VETASSES assessment in the UK but was wondering if there is any other training to be completed once in Oz before I can start work as a plumber? Can anyone reading this who has gone through this recently enlighten me on the process? Also was planning on Melbourne-good/bad idea for plumbing job opertunities?

Hey mate, I am a plumber and have just compiled all me docs to send off. I am however going through an agency because they do it all for you, but at a huge cost. 2 £14450 instalments!! docs you need; trade set form (done online), certified copy of passport, 2 certified passport photos, certified copies of NVQ levels 2 and 3 certificates including any transcripts you may have, an employer reference or if likje me and your self employed, you need to type out a statutory declaration and get that certified, profit statements, SAS302 forms (kind of like a p60 and you get this from inland revenue and finally your completed VETASESS form. You can get your docs certified by a solicitor, not all forms need certifying but each and every certificate does. They do charge but its part of the process. I hope this helps you buddy.
