    EOI Question

Hi all, I am preparing to submit my EOI for a 189 and wondering..... if I have 70 points which includes 5 points for work experience...maybe should I submit with 65 points and leave out the work experience.. would this be processed quicker? As less paperwork? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.....
  2. Hi Akara, Sorry to hear your in the same situation.. its a real knock back alright when ur expectin a positive : ( I had my EOI ready to go for 3rd Sep!! : ( Apparently to appeal you must do so in writing..im not sure but I just thought post and then thought time so Im thinkin I will either register for the exam or as Vicky suggested re-apply as external auditor..have to make a call tomor is my self set deadline.. I have not had much time to even think this week as Were in the middle of budgets and internal audit in work at the mo!! #bad timing : (! Its frustrating and costly - if your not under time pressure to get your visa it might be worth appealing.. There's a detailed outline of the course on the Vue website, maybe if you could match.the topics with your syllabus.. Oh also it might be worth checkin re the work experience.. I know it ssid you can claim for anything post qualification so not sure if the extra exams would csncel this..... Vicky do you know this for sure r is it worth double checkin? Thanks
  3. Hey Claire.. thanks its all a bit confusing ..when i was applyin and lookin all this up i was 99% sure CPA was equivelant to the Australian Bachelors degree and that wud get me positibe result.... but the letter clearly outlines it...(for any1else out there confused) you need 1) A qualification comparable to Australian Batchelors Degree (ie CPA) 2) You must have covered 9 out of the 12 core knowledge ares (including the 4 mandatory areas) 3) IELTS Academic grade 7 in each area So if ur qualification is comparable but your missing an area seems to be the tricky part!! Though u wud think how could I be missing Accounting Theory if I did CPA!! wud make more sense if came through a business/accountin degree but anyway.. if you are applyin with ACCA ..best of luck..but hopefully u wont need it : )
  4. Hi..yeah this was my initial reaction to just sit it and be done with it.. but just so annoyin as CPA Ireland r suppossed to have mutual recognition.. Was researchin there n yea looks like computer based muti choice and exam results straight away, assumin CPA can see there on-line - so no hold up for posting.. sorry for moaning btw : ( After an 8 week wait on what I thot wud defo be a yes letter it was a real mood killer...but aw well just another minor set-back.... Yeah I need to just get on it Thanks !
  5. Thanks Tracy..would never have thought of that - the work experience from post-qualified wouldn't count now if have to re-sit an exam!! I qualified Dec'08 so was going to claim 5 points..I could leave this out alright - I re-sat the IELTS to get 8's so have 70 points includin work exp. I re-sat IELTS cos wanted to ensure no waiting; my sister is over there now I'm dyin to go and then this unexpected hold up! Grrr but half way there Thanks for that - appreciate it - more options now.to think bout
  6. Hi Rupert, Thanks for reply...Yep definately a negative assesment They said CPA Ireland is assessed as comparable to an Australian Bachelor degree, they said I had 9 out of 12 "core knowledge areas" but 1 I was missing is a mandatory area! gettin more annoyed about this every day..have sent an email and goin to ring them tonight. Had my EOI ready to submit for yesterday so total bummer Maybe goin thru ICAA from start wud have been the better route but would have to pay again to ICAA so lookin like only option is to sit the exam Ggrrrr
  7. Hi Tracy, Thanks for your reply.. I did cover auditing in the course alright but I am claiming points for work experience in management accounting. I have paid for the assessment also so would have to pay again under a different code..maybe best to just sit the exam.. thanks for suggestion tho
  8. Hi all, I am applying for a subclass 189 visa. I am fully qualified accountant through CPA Ireland. Couldn't believe it when I got my skills assesment letter from CPA Australia last week to say I am missing one of the "core knowledge areas" - Accounting Theory...! It says I have to complete a foundation level exam, which includes the most basic stuff i.e. elements of a balance sheet! My friend who never done accounts in her life knows this - it is so basic and I am fully qualified since 2008 so needless to say I am raging Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation? I will sit the exam as I have to but I am gutted the money and amount of time this is going to set me back Does anyone know do you have to post the results to CPA Australia or will they be able to view this on-line? If anyone has done these exams I would really appreciate any info on time frames etc.. Thanks! Yvonne
  9. Hiya it seems like I didn't have the core modules. I had started my acca but then moved to doing cpa Australia ... Did you finish the CPA? and you still have to sit 3 modules??? thanks
  10. Thanks that helps heaps
  11. Hi..know the feeling! hate exams ..the worst thing u can do though is stress urself out to the point of feelin ill..u wont get any study done that way.. Try resue remedy, u'll get it in a health shop, just a few drops of this calms u right down Its great for the day of the exam too as if ur calm u might see something u'll miss if ur stressin.. Can i ask what exams u had to have to do 2 more? i am applyin for my skills assesment soon as i pass the Ielts end of May...nervous!!
  12. I really appreciated your reply Rupert, didnt mean to come across like I didnt at all I just genuinely couldnt find the reference to CPA Ireland on the ICAA website and wanted to repet the question in case any other viewers thought it was sorted when I was still freaking out.. I just thought you might have seen Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland, there are so many different Accountancy bodies..sorry I really cant find CPA Ireland but I am obviously the cretin Will keep looking...
  13. Hi I am just wondering if the breakdown of points is likely to affect getting a visa? Or is it just once you score over 60 they wont regard what the breakdown is? I hope to have the following: Age 30 English 20 Qualification 15 Work exper 5 I wonder if I only submit 5 points for work experience would this affect my chances of getting a visa? I have 4 years and 6 months post membership (CPA) experience, so only 6 months away from getting 10 points here.. Or thinking maybe safer to go for a subclass 190? Just to clarify also, if I go for a subclass 189 and dont get through, would I need to pay the $2,500 again in order to apply for a 190? Thanks!
  14. Thanks Rupert... I had a look on the ICAA website and still cant find a reference to CPA Ireland.. They have Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland listed alright but not Certified Public Accountants Unless I am missing it? Cheers.. Anyone else know if CPA Ireland qualification will give a positive skills assesment for a Management Accountant 221112 ? Thanks :err:
  15. Hi... I am in getting all documents ready to apply for the skills assessment through CPA Australia. I am qualified with CPA Ireland.. I am sooo confused, please help if you can... I just read something that has completely thrown me... On the CPA Australia website it says..... Membership of other professional bodies If you have a recognised university qualification in any discipline in addition to any of the following professional qualifications, you can generally expect to receive a successful assessment. Does this really mean I need a university qualification aswell as my CPA qualification? I really hope not I have the IATI but this was my pathway into CPA so would hardly be taken as a second qualification?? Any advise grately appreciated! Thanks
