Thanks all for the replies, We are still in Australia, being pulled from pillar to post with emotional issues etc, i think in our hearts we are going home ............then again maybe not.......or maybe we will!!!!!! or not! We have about a year left on our Pr visa, can get citizenship by the end of this year 2013, but to be honest emotionally i doubt we will last that long, not to go into it but its been a tough year. Hence the question about the RR visa. So if i understand right this is where we stand: We can apply for it here in Oz if/before we go back to the uk even though we have a year left on our PR visa? ​( is it really that simple, no questions asked) OR We can apply for it in the UK even after our PR visa runs out? (i wonder how long after are you still considered) We have lived and worked here for nearly 3 years on a 176 visa Thanks all ​CB

dxboz, Yes i agree, i think i may of misled myself on this one, i was thinking its an extension of the PR visa but but it is infact a new visa. ​While im on the subject, as usual the gov website is not that clear, being as we have been here nearly 3 years it looks like you just have to produce your passport, the application form and your fee to apply but additional various supporting documentation if you fall into one of the other categories. Can someone have a look and see if im right( maybe iv missed something)

Hi all, just stumbled across this Aus gov website, looks like if you have a Permanant Residence visa you have returned home ie to the uk, and it's about to run out and your still undecided if you wish to return to Oz, there is a way of extending your visa. its news to me I thought once the 4 years was up you had lost your chance, anyone out ther already extended there's ? Any recommendations on company's to use or not as the case may be when moving from perth to the uk?

Hi all, were going home, after just about 3 years we are about to throw the towel in, we've had our adventure but time to admit its not for us. So questions questions....... Anyone had a quote recently or used a company for a 20ft container back to the Uk? Also, on returning to the Uk do you have to pay tax on your earnings in Australia up til when you left? Just concerned we could be hit with a surprise tax bil thanks CB
