  1. Very! Work want us there mid jan but no idea if its going to happen at the moment so feeling abit in limbo not been able to organise. When did you apply?
  2. Hi, the info came from both our own MA dealing with our PR & my husbands work MA who are dealing with the 457. I've also seen a post on here the other week with everyone saying how long they had been waiting.
  3. Hi, I'm probably not much help but didn't want to read & run. My husbands skills assessment took around 6 weeks to come back & then he had to wait a couple of months for a date for his technical interview ( don't know if you need one or not!?). I'd say it took at least 4 months for the whole process. Then as we've had a change of plan short term we have just applied for a 457 & been told there is a backlog & taking 2-3 months. I've no idea on if you could apply when there but sure someone else will help. Good luck.
  4. Many thanks for your replies. Sorry I missed out the point my husband has failed his ielts twice now so a 190 would be dependent on him passing that. He's getting 8's & 9 on everything but writing which he has only been getting 6.5. The skills assessment is all done which is why we are pushing for pr now rather than 457. Only issue is we will probably be going jan/feb so need a visa by then. I think my husband is reluctant for his work to do the 457 then ask to sponser a 186 straight away if he can't pass his ielts which is why we wondered if it was possible to go straight for the 186 now. Thanks again
  5. Hi, I'm getting a little bit confused so looking for some of advice. We originally started out to get a 190 visa when during the skills assessment process my husbands work offered him a transfer which we grabbed with both hands but it was on a 457 although after speaking with his new boss he said had no problem continuing with our pr once there. After looking into it further I think we can get a 186visa if his work agrees to sponser us. Am I right in thinking this can be done from outside Australia? how long are these visas taking as guidelines say 6 month but my husband was talking to a migration agent (not ours) last week that said 190's are getting processed really quick at the moment & wondering if 186 is the same. Also is anymore work involved for his work than would be on 457? Hoping they will agree to it as would prefer pr before we go. Any other advice would be greatly received as I'm now onto our potential 3rd visa & my brains getting a little muddled. Thanks Lisa
  6. Lol your probably right as I never seem organised since having 2 babies in 18 month however hard I try. Maybe I should try leaving things & it might help me! Snifter I agree I probably am been abit early but my original question was was I far too early to get them out & I think it's not so early to have recieved the response I did from them. Surely if a customer wants to do something in advance its not really down to a business to question it. If I was talking nov next year then I would of completely understood.
  7. The reason we want to send things early is because we decided it would be easier here without many things as we have friends that can lend things etc plus we will have the things we aren't taking eg double bed from spare room. As for Xmas as we don't live near family we have decided to spend it with them seeing everyone before we go. I was thinking of cleaning my hoard of shoes now, kids outdoor things end of summer & doing it gradually. I wish I could do it all in 3 weeks but in reality I know I never could! candygirl I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes to be organised. I have moved house quite abit & always find it takes longer & you've more things than you thought.
  8. Thanks for replying again. I didn't know that about them taking payment on the day as I have read many posts about people paying upfront. We are trying to sort through everything now but I'm worried about having to clean everything, children's outdoor toys, shoes etc. we live 200 mile from family so have no help with the kids so I'm just trying to get as organised as I can, plus I was kinda hoping they would give me some tips which I keep reading people say. If all goes to plan then it would be early nov. I know I am been abit early but didnt think it was so rediculously that they wouldn't even entertain coming out yet. Oh well me & my lists again!lol
  9. But if I make appointments for beginning of August that is only 3 months before. As we are not paying my husbands company is then we have to get approval to go ahead & book which could take another couple of weeks so really only 8 weeks before. Maybe I'm just an organised freak but I have a 2 year old & 9 month old & just don't have the time to rush round at the last minute doing everything. Every other type of company I've ever dealt with would rather take a booking & your money ASAP!
  10. Interesting to read, I will be looking for a cheap run around when we get out there maybe around $5k. I used to have yaris, 206 etc before the kids but now drive a BMW 5 series estate so not sure how ill feel to go back to small so how do the big ones do on fuel as mines diesel at the mo so great. My husband is getting a company car which I think will be along the lines of hilux so not like we need another big one but I'm so used to throwing the pram, shopping etc in easily! We had considered bringing it but not sure it's worth the hassle.
  11. Last night I emailed a couple of shipping companies about quotes. I have had a reply from doree bonner saying that its ages away & they will contact me early September to arrange coming round. Well we are hopefully going in January but probably going to send our things before us around nov. By the time we get a few companies out & all the quotes in I'm thinking we will be way into August which would only be 3 month before. I have sent abit of a shitty reply more or less saying don't bother then, am I been unreasonable?
  12. After months of going along the 190 visa route my husbands work have now set up in Perth & offered him a transfer. They are now saying they will get us a 457 visa but as I know new rules have come in will his make it more difficult? Am I right in thinking I read somewhere it was different rules if it was a company transfer? Also any ideas how long it should take to do?
  13. My husband is a mechanical engineer & his company are putting together a package to move to Perth. At the moment they are talking about a salary of $80k but I'm wondering if any of you do similar jobs & what pay you are receiving. We have looked at jobs online but very few advertise the pay. His company deal in valves for the oil & gas industry & he often goes offshore to do jobs ( I'm presuming he would get paid extra for that though). Just want to know if they are been fair or if he should be asking for more.
  14. He is a mechanical engineer & his company deal in valves for the oil & gas industry. No idea where it is, hopefully will find out details ASAP. Wouldn't be in such a stress/rush if we wasn't going on holiday tomorrow. Thanks again or your help.
  15. Don't mean to sound rude but would appreciate responses to my post, I know all about cost of Perth housing & the instability of jobs! Thanks
