  1. We will be going with $35k of savings which (according to my research) would last for 6-8 months in Sydney having that we will not by a car before either of us has a job. We intend to mostly cycle around the city and surroundings (can't wait!) except when we need to attend and interview. We will cook our meals and will share the accommodation as we don't have kids yet. I expect that either one of us will find work within 3-6 months. Let me know what you think. Thanks

  2. Thank you all for the encouraging words :) Are we all girls in this treat or boys feel the same way also? My partner seems to have much more confidence in what we are doing, although he just got promoted and now he is a member of the management team.

  3. I've been reading those posts from people who got the visa grant and are about to finally do the move that are saying they feel so scared. I thought that those guys are crazy, that something is wrong with them. After going through this 1+ year of struggle to get the visa why it is >now< that they start to worry? Wasn't this the hardest thing they ever did? Why are they not celebrating and enjoying those last weeks of preparation before they board that plane? I will tell you, the visa application is NOT the hardest thing, the hardest thing is actually DOING the move. Leaving your loved ones, quitting your job, selling your stuff, giving up your house/apartment, your home. Honestly, I never thought this will be so hard.

Trust me I am not having second thoughts about it, I am doing it. Just wanted to share how I feel and hope this might help others prepare in advance for what is about to happen. All this is real, this emotional waterfall that so many of us are going through is real and it may happen to you also. Be prepared.

Good luck to all of you!

  4. I've just had an email from Skill Select saying my EOI is about to expire (28/10/14) and if I don't apply it will expire! I've already submitted my application!

As far as I understand this is standard automated communication and everybody receives such email, no matter if Visa application was submitted or not.

  5. Hi!

I applied for a 189 and frontloaded docs on 11th August.

Did anyone else include defacto partners on their application?

I see someone from 28th July got their visa this week - we're next!!

    x

I was included as defacto partner and we submitted our application on the 12th of August, still waiting for the grant

  6. Thanks pattern! That is what I was doing, but only my name is available. Checked the application to see if I'd entered something incorrectly, but the defacto info looks all fine... however - towards the end a heap of the information is blank!! Absolute panic. It had definitely been filled in and triple checked when I submitted (Education, Employment, English Language) so something has gone horribly wrong. At least I know now, so can call someone on Monday to see what can be done. I have you to thank for bringing it to my attention, or no doubt I would have had a very interesting email from my CO when one got assigned.

    Thanks again!

Fingers crossed and hope you can resolve it on Monday. It might be a technical glitch as I am not sure how can you receive an invitation if education, employment and English language are missing...

  7. Hi all,

I just lodged my application last night - and was wondering if anyone who lodged recently had done so with an additional applicant/defacto? The system has changed (using ImmiAccount now instead of eVisa) since I lodged my last visa (Temporary 485) - and I can't seem to upload documents into my partner's section - just into mine? I was pretty keen to front load everything - it's just unclear if I should just upload his docs into my section?

Any help or insight would be appreciated!

We lodged our visa on the 12th using ImmiAccount and had no issues uploading documents both for the primary applicant and the de-facto partner (which is me). When we go to Upload documents on the upper right corner a pop up window is opening and you can choose under which of the two applicants you want to upload documents.

Are you sure that you properly added your defacto partner in the EOI (it was a little bit tricky I remember understanding where to put the defacto partner and where any dependents (if applicable)?

  8. Anybody able to help? I was under the impression when I applied to be able to get a HAP ID, this I'd be able to use to book a medical and have my results come straight through to my application.

There is a reference number, starts EGO, is this the same as a HAP ID?

Hi, you should click on "Organize your medicals" link bellow each applicant and fill in the questionably, once you are done you will have the possibility to save/print the eMedical form where on top right corner you have the HAP number.

    Hope this helps.

  9. I'm In no rush lol! I take it there's no time limit on the visa application?

Well, as far as I am aware, once CO asks you for the PCC and Medicals you have limited time to upload the PCCs and do the medicals, but I am not sure how much.. month or two? So yes, you can prolong the process, but still you have some limitations. Why you started the process, but you don't want to get the visa as soon as possible?

  10. Hi all,

We lodged our visa on the 12th of August, we will get the PCCs tomorrow and have the medicals booked for Thursday (21st of August). I've checked in other forums also and it seems that there are people who lodged their visas in May and are still waiting for grant, so it might be more than 10 weeks.

Good luck to all of you!

  11. Yay~ Got the outcome letter online on 11th July. It's positive.

In the outcome letter, although I submitted all my past 5 years's employment documentation to them, they only assessed those from about 1 year ago.

By doing this way, I think they reduced their workload to minimal...as long as they considered that I fulfill their minimum requirement(i.e 1 year or above post qualification work experience highly relevant to the nominated occupation; and a highly relevant bachelor degree)

I spent a great deal effort in organizing all other documents further back to 5 years ago. Apparently, it's just a waste of time.

    Anyway, I'm done with VETASSESS.

    Next, State sponsorship.

Well as far as I understand they will only assess your 5 years of experience if you pay for the PTA (point test advice) service, otherwise only 1 year is being assessed. But the PTA is not mandatory is up to your discretion. You will need to provide all those proofs of experience to DIBP anyway so your effort was not wasted. Good luck with the SS.

BTW how much time it took you to receive the VETASSESS assessment?

  12. Congratulations... We are still awaiting a response from Vetassess. We submitted our vetassess application online on 12/04/2014 and status still showing IN PROGRESS.. Hope we get a positive outcome.

I just don't get it, why it has to take so much time for them to check the docs... and they charge one of the highest fees..

  13. Finally got an updated from the VETASSESS since 3 Apr. My status changed to ''completed'' today 10 July. It's exactly the 12th week after I submitted all the documents online on 10 Apr.

I received a message in the communication portal online:

''Your application for the Skills Recognition - General Occupations has been completed

and the result letter will be available to download in PDF format from the online portal within 2 business days.

If you have indicated that you also wish to receive a hard copy of the result letter, this will be sent out by the selected mail service.''

So, In 2 more days, I will know what to do next.

I think this is good news as from what I've seen on the forum, negative results are usually not received on the end of the 12th week :)

  14. Thanks guys, I do understand that I cannot submit the visa application before we receive the invitation, I am just not sure whether there is any advantage in submitting the EOI today or not.

BTW I made a registration and checked the EOI and it seems it will take me less than 8 hours to complete, but I am not sure if it makes sense to do it today...

  15. Guys,

We were nicely surprised today to receive the positive assessment from ACS for my partner after less than 3 weeks from the submission! Since they acknowledged all his experience (only deducting 2 years) we are now able to claim 5 pints for it and we don't need to wait for my assessment to be completed to lodge the EOI.

I am now wondering does it make sense to take one day off from work and try to find our way through the EOI today... I am struggling to assess the advantages and disadvantages of doing so. If I fill the EOI today does this mean that once we receive the invitation we will be subject to the current visa fee or the new one that will be introduced after +-8 hours?

    Any advise is welcome!

    Thank you in advance!
