Yes mate. Wish I'd gone years ago when there was plenty about...... Might get lucky over there though. Just what I've heard from sparky mates over there at the moment. Once your in though you can do what you want work wise............

I'm a sparky of 15 years moving to Oz in August. Don't think I'm even gonna bother getting my licence over there. Sounds like a major hassle. Ill try and find a new career.......

Yeah im thinking i wont be able to extend it. It does say "if theres compelling reasons" then i might get an resident return visa but then i dont have property in Oz or spent 2 years out of the last 5 out there.......

Hi, I have a sub class 136 permanent residency visa that is due to expire in August 2013. I was planning to move to Oz last year but ending up tearing both rotator cuffs in my shoulders and was trying to get them fixed. I ended up leaving my trade ( electrician ) and started working in a factory as Electrical work was too painful with my damaged shoulders. Im in the process of arranging surgery at the moment but this will be a lengthy process and probably take a year to sort both of them out. I want them fixed so when i do go to Oz and can get back into the Electrical trade. I just wondered if medical reasons are a good enough reason for a visa extension ? I will phone Australia house in a few days and see what they say. Id just like to know what to expect. Thanks in advance Lee
