  1. I thought all visa applications where non refundable? Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  2. I have recently been granted a partner visa in record time, started the process in March and i have found it granted already! Basically i want to give a shout out to The Emigration Group who have been magnificent the whole way through. Well worth the money and would strongly advise anyone looking to move to Australia to have a migration agent. From start to finish, no matter how small the question, they took time and patience to show me guidance throughout the process!
  3. All sorted much appreciated thanks guys Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  4. My wife and I have had a letter with one question asking for the date of her first entry and the passport number used to enter Australia. This was in 1999 and we cant place our hands on her old passport. Anyone had any similar issues and how they overcame them?

    RRV- wife

ok guys, registered with an agent, however agent advised wife to call London consulate, she spoke to London who in turn advised her just to apply for the RRV herself. She did this and was granted in one working day! Im now left with options of either skilled migration or partners visa (interview tomorrow with migration agent), unsure of which direction to take here!

Have managed to do the VEVO and looks like the visa has expired, thanks all for the help. Will work out how to move forward with this.

    RRV- wife

Her visa class is Resident (Return) (Class BB) Resident Return (subclass 155) The way i read the visa was we had to enter the country before date X, which we did. Also says she has been granted a permanent visa which allows her to travel and to remain in Australia indefinitely. I assume this is self explanatory but just want to be 100% sure before making arrangements to move to the other side of the world again!

    RRV- wife

My wife was granted a RRV in 2014 in which we moved to Queensland, however we returned back to the UK three months later, would this visa still be valid if we chose to move back to Australia? I would be applying to join her as her husband
  10. My partner was educated in Oz and came back to the UK for the health care that she required and that is how she sort of ended up back here. As for myself being homesick, i came from a small close knit town and felt like i missed that when i left, however took a gamble and moved to a Scottish city when i moved back to the UK and having spent a year here working things out for ourselves i felt this "homesickness" was perhaps all in my head. I could try skilled migration or a working visa whilst im there working towards a skilled migrant?
  11. My partner was granted a RRV in 2014 to return to Australia in which we had done but only stayed for 3 months before returning to the UK. We had returned to the UK on a bit of a whim due to surrounding circumstances of myself being homesick and being totally under prepared for what to expect from Brisbane. Now over a year later we have thought about returning but thinking of a return to Victoria state as this would be cooler. Our issue is this, would my partner be likely to have a RRV granted again? Would i be able to achieve a work permit again (Time served gas engineer)? She has a twin sister in Brisbane and her father (citizen) lives in Victoria, would this be grounds for her to achieve a successful applicant?
  12. I moved to Brisbane last year and lasted 3 months. Whilst we moved in with my partners twin sister, i found them nothing alike and because of two such dissimilar couples living together this caused my partners and my morale levels to drop to such low levels we packed it in within that time. However since moving back to the UK, i moved to a city rather than a town, gained lots of experience and learnt a lot about myself. Now here comes the tricky part, when i first moved away i was in contact constantly with friends and family back home, this made me feel like i was missing out. Now i'm thinking if i was to give it one more shot, move to somewhere cooler (temp wise), that me and my partner focus on one another and building a life like we have here in the UK without too much outside influence that we may actually have a shot in Victoria somewhere. I'm 29 and my partner 31 (she has residency status) and we feel time is running out. Now i am a qualified domestic and lpg along with industrial and commercial gas engineer. I found out the hard way that my trade was not in demand as much as i thought in Brisbane but was told upon first visit i should have tried for Victoria. Has anyone ever had this emotions before? Returning to the UK only to find a year later that if they had one more shot that they would take it with both hands? or perhaps they've done this at a similar age to us and has been the best or worst thing they've done?
  13. Hey guys, just to let you know I have returned to the UK, the job sector here is so much stronger in relation to my qualification and already i feel more relaxed. I would like to thank all for their input which helped me make a balanced decision. I dont regret my move over and never will, ive just learnt its not for me and that life in the UK is not that bad
  14. Thanks all for your replies so far, although i've been picking up labouring jobs here and there my partner and I feel like we now just want to save some money and go home. I have let my folks and some friends know of my trying and failing to settle, Ive also contacted my previous employment who are looking into the possibility in re-employing myself. If we get any sort of go aheads in the next week to two weeks its looking like we are going home.
  15. Hi Y'all, Was looking forward to moving to Brisbane so much after a holiday here last year. We took the plunge as my partners sister lives in Brisbane and her father Melbourne and she had residency. Whilst we love the weather we feel that we've made a huge mistake coming over as my partner said she thought immediately that she had made a mistake but didn't want to influence me and give me time to see how i felt. Struggling in the jobs marker (Im a qualified gas engineer) ive had knock back after knock back and have been led to believe i would have to do a plumbing apprenticeship in order to regain certificates that ive sacrificed so much for in the UK. Although i asked for RPL i was told this wasn't going to be the case by TAFE and now dont have the resources to redo my certifications. Theres also the issue of missing UK sports and activities that i had taken for granted for the last 28 years of my life. It was a dream for me to move out here and an opportunity not to be missed i felt. Just feel like ive been a failure or maybe was my expectations too high or too unrealistic in what to think? Although i never burnt any bridges before coming over and carefully researching areas and scoping out the job sector have I underestimated or am i just another whinging pom lol.
