  1. Migration Cover is a new insurance for people who are or have migrated. This covers not only your flights to go home if a loved one dies but also to get you home if you lose your job when you move over to Australia. It's an excellent idea and gives you the reassurance when making the big move that if things don't work out you can get back home. http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/243693-migration-insurance-cover.html is the link explaining it a bit more

I saw the migration cover and got a quote. I thought the price was a bit high. I didn't seem to have an option to take out the redundancy part.

  2. Is the agency US based?

If they quoted $3500 PLUS GST then you have every right to assume they are talking about AUD.

If the quote isn't clear then that's their fault.

They are a global company with offices all over the world. HQ is in US.. Office I dealt with in Sydney

  3. If the quote was $3500 plus GST then that surely indicates a quote in Aussie $.

Was it a quote or an estimate?

At today's rates, that equates to about $US2800 all up.

    It was a quotation email

On the quote it said $3500 They are saying that this was 3500 USD (they did not stipulate that it was USD).

They even had other figures on the email which were in AUD and these have been invoiced in AUD.

It's just this one fee for the services that they are being sneaky about.

  4. Hi all I used a MA through my company to prepare our ENS 186 Nomination Application.

The agency quoted me an amount in email of $3500 plus GST for their fees.

Thankfully our visa has been approved and we now have the invoice. The only problem is the amount is now $5000 as they have worded the invoice that it is converted to USD. There was no mention of this in the email with the quote.

As my company have been invoiced they are now trying to get the extra $1500 off me. This obviously is so wrong. If it was done on my own I would tell the agency to whistle for it. As it was done through my employer I am worried that if I do this then I will be in breach of an agreement and I will face disciplinary proceedings at work.

  7. Proceed with caution.

Not only will your employer need to show that they have met one of the training benchmarks for the last 12 months, they may be asked for evidence that they have met the training benchmarks for the life of their sponsorship.

Be careful with in house training as it is most often not counted towards the training benchmarks.

We employ 1 maybe 2 designated trainers along with room rental and equipment for them. I'm assuming the wages and cost of rent/equipment could be included?

  8. Hi Pj,

yes, i applied through MA. They have checked everything before they lodged and have shown me a successful case with internal training costs. However, my MA also said there may be a chance DIAC doesn't accept my internal training costs. It really confuses me with what they said :(. that's why i wanted to ask anyone else here was successful in proving training requirements using internal training?

Well, as you work for a big firm, i guess you should not worry too much. Normally, big firms they have proper training programs and systems. Also, accountants can pick up the training costs right away from audited financial statements. It might be an issue if it doesn't cover 1% of their total payroll. Then, there will be more work to do.

I would suggest you to work closely with MA and your company's accountants in preparing and checking all documents before lodging. Luckily, as i am working as management accountant, i am in charge in all our financials and was the only one preparing my paperwork and make sure it is correct before submitting. However, still not sure about internal training.

I think it depends on what the internal training is. E.g. if you have a designated trainer whom you pay wages then I think that is ok. You could also claim for room rental etc. I don't think you can include staff wages while they were training.

  9. After 2 years on a 457 we are in the process of applying for PR through the temporary residents transition stream.

We are using a MA. On the employer nominatio form from the agency it asks for the amount spent on training over the past 12 months.

It says that if you are applying through the direct entry stream you need to provide evidence of the amount spent. Does this mean that in my case it's not needed?

I know my employer is struggling to get the figures together and suspect they will provide a guesstimate. I'm worried that if they do this they won't have evidence to back it up.

Does anyone have any advice or similar experiences?

  10. Also,

I would like to seek your advice in my case.

I have been on visa 457 over 2 years. In the last 2 years, my company hardly paid anything for externer training. However, we conduct many internal trainings for new staff and for the purpose of launching new products. Also, as we work in a technology industry, these trainings are necessary to keep our staff updated with changes. Recently, my MA advised me to include internal training costs to meet training requirements for ens 186. I have lodged my application but now i am concerned that it may get rejected as my company didn't pay for actual external training.

Has anyone experienced the same situation and can give me some advice on it? i feel a bit frustrated now.

Btw, my occupation is management accoutant.

    Thanks.

    Suzy,

Did you apply through MA? If you did I would expect that they would have checked this to see if there were any potential issues.

I am in the process of getting my employer to nominate me through a MA, through temporary resident transition stream. On the questionnaire that the agency have sent my employer there is a sentence that says "If you are applgying through direct entry you need to supply evidence of the expenditure of training" I thought it was required.

For me I'm nervous about this as we are a large international corporation and I know that HR are struggling to pull all the training figure together.

  11. I eventually found my birth certificate and realized my parents were too tight to pay for the full version which has their names on it.

Anyone know if you can get a replacement which has their names on it?

If I can't what other documents can I use to verify my identity?

Do I have to supply this bearing in mind I am the one being nominated by me employer and I have full UK passport?

  12. My employer will do the nomination for ENS 186 but the actual application is up to me. I could ask them to cover the cost for us..

I've been given a quote of $4500 for the agent fees (for a family of 5). It seems a bit steep for someone just to check the forms and make sure you have all the relevant docs or are am I missing something?
