  1. Thanks for your replies then guys. Looks like its not going to work for me. Unless I can redo my PGCE which Is very unlikely. I was hoping maybe private schools could take me then I could have maybe retrained over there.
  2. Hi , no I havnt sent my pgce for assessment because I completed a PGCEi an international course that I didn't realise at the time, is classed as part time. I work in a British school in Spain and the qualification is accepted by all the private schools here.
  3. Hi there! Myself, husband and three children would like to move to oz. I am a teacher but my pgce does not meet the requirements!!! I taught primary for 3 years and over the last two years I have been teaching maths in years 5 to 9.I am also the maths coordinator. I know that maths teachers are in great demand so I was wondering if a private school could sponsor me? Alternatively if we could get a visa another way ( doubtful) could I at least get a job in a private school if we made it over there? thanks in advance for any help you can give xxx
  4. Yes im going to phone them, I will keep everyone informed. xxx
  5. Ooh good luck Del70, I hope you get good news:-) I was wondering whether the a quick phonecall to AITSL. Would be any good, do you know if they will actually give out advice or whether they just want your 550 dollars? well this truly is a very difficult process good luck to everyone!
  6. Please excuse any typing errors, I am on my mobile and so can't see all the writing! Xx
  7. Hi Sammy I didn't even know my Pgce was classed as part time until u started this process! I studied my degree in Spain, but it was through the university of Nottingham. All the research, coursework and assignments were completed online. I spent a total of 15 weeks on supervised teaching practice. It took 18 months but on the website I have noticed that it says the PGCEI is a one year - part time course! I have seen on the AITSL website that ir must be one year full time or equivalent! I was considering a move into teaching secondary here un Spain as I have been the maths co-ordinator for the last two years and really enjoyed getting back into it. I would happily do my Pgce again but the only problem is that I would have to go back to the UK again as the secondary Pgce offered here will be the same as the primary. It is a somethingI am going to look into though just in case, thank you!! Xxx
  8. Hi guys! I have spent the last 2 months trying to work out how we can get a visa to make the move to oz. I am finally reaching the end of the line, and very sadly feel that maybe we just have to give up! Please, please, if anyone has ANY ideas left then I am willing to try! Here is my situation: I am 31, married, 3 children. We will have approx £30,000 to take over. I am a primary school teacher, 3 years experience. My husband was a ductwork and heating ventilation fitter for 10 years but has been out of that for the last 8 years. I studies a maths degree for 3 years and then a PGCE international for a year and a half. This is where my problem lies. My PGCE was classed as part time! I have just found out that this will almost definitely be refused by AITSL!! I then decided to apply for a student visa and redo my PGCE in Oz. However, although the fees for domestic students are a reasonable 5,800 dollars, international students pay 22.000 dollars!!!!!! Obviously I do not have this amount of money to spend. The £30,000 pounds is to set us up and pay the first months of living costs until we find work. I know this is a very loooong post but if anybody can help I would very much appreciate it. I have contacted an agent but they wanted 600 just to check if my PGCE would pass the AITSL assessment. I am happy to pay for them to do the paperwork but I dont want to pay for nothing!! Thank you in advance Karen xxx:sad:
  9. Thanks everyone, its nice to hear from people who have been through the process. One more thing, am I going to have problems as my PGCE was part time then??
  10. Hi rossendale! Just wondering how you are going on with your AITSL assessment? I am just about to start mine!
  11. Hi thanks for your reply! On the AITSL website it says the teaching degree must include; pedagogical studies, dicipline specific studies, general education studies plus 45 days teaching practice. Also I have heard something about the PGCE needs to be worth 120 credits???
  12. Hi everyone I am hoping somebody has been through the same thing and had a positive outcome. I completed a PGCEI 3 years ago and have been teaching since. I am desperate to move to OZ but I dont think my PGCE covers all the areas set out by AITSL. I have e-mailed my university ( Nottingham) just in case but I am sure I didn't study a discipline-specific module. Does anybody know if I can ask the university if I could study an extra module and add it to my degree?? I emailed an agent to ask for advise but they want 600 dollars to look into it for me. If anybody has been through anything similar I would very much appreciate some help. Thank you Karen xxx
  13. Hi I am also a primary teacher (married with 3 children) but am finding it very difficult to find a way to get a visa. At the moment only N.A. and W.A. have primary teachers on their CSOL list. I am happy to go to W.A. but am now discovering that my PGCE may not cover the areas specified!!! I am so heartbroken! Make sure you do your research before getting your hopes up! Good luck, Karen xxx
  14. Thanks everyone, it is sooo confusing. I was thinking of applying for early years but read a post on here where somebody got turned down because their degree was not in early years! I did a maths degree followed by a PGCE, since then I have taught year 3. Although I love year 3 I think this year I should probably move in order to gain experience of another age group. Lots more research now to find out which states are accepting primary and which area, we, as a family would like to live in. Is state sponsorship a difficult process?
  15. Thanks for that. I had only really looked into Queensland as I think its easier to have someone to support you when you first arrive. It looks like I wont get in there, so now have to research north and west Australia to find out where would suit us best. Maybe a post on here, although I suppose asking which area is best is like asking if cheese and onion are better than salt and vinegar! Hope you have luck with your visa. Keep us informed! Maybe there should be a post for all us primary lot wanting to make the move!!
  16. Sorry, I have just noticed you are an agent! Lol!
  17. Do you know how much it costs for an agent? I was hoping to go to Queensland as I have friends there who said we can stay with them until we get sorted but if WA is offering primary i am going to look into it again, thank you xxx
  18. Hi, thank you for your reply! I was reading a post yesterday that said you need to pay someone to do all the paperwork as it is very difficult and confusing!! I am absolutely gutted that primary teachers are not on the list. I also read a post about somebody getting a visa for W.A. but somebody else replied saying that they were not giving visas for primary so very confusing! Primary is definitely not on the department of immigration list but i am going to research further. I am also looking at moving into secondary teaching as my degree is in maths and i am the maths co-ordinator but not sure how long i would have to be in the job before i could apply. Its so confusing
  19. Sorry, just re read the page. Yes, you need to have to have an occupation on the list and the 60 points. Seems my dreams are shattered!!
  20. Hello I know I will have to pay a company to organise the visa but I don't want to pay out a fortune only to find out that we can't get one. As I primary teacher my job is no longer on the skilled workers list. However, on reading the government page about obtaining points. It says you must have 60 point to apply for the 189 visa. I think (please tell me if i am wrong) that i would have 30 points for my age (I'm 31), 5 points for being in my job 3 years, 15 points for having a degree with honours. That gives me 50 so I would need ten on the English language test. Am I just clutching at straws or would I get in with these 60 points, even though my job is not on the skilled workers list??? Karen xxx
  21. Sorry have also forgot to say that I was also thinking about looking into becoming an accountant but I do love teaching and also don't want to be talking 5 years before we get there!
  22. Hi everyone, this is my first post! Myself and my husband (and three children) would love to move over, however, I am a primary teacher which is no longer on the skilled list. My degree is in maths and then I did a PGCE. It was a close call as to whether I went into secondary teaching maths or primary. We are currently living in Spain and I teach in a Private British school. If I moved into secondary and began teaching maths would I be able to apply for the skilled visa? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Karen xxx
