  1. Does anyone know how we can watch the game tonight on either free tv or the inter web streaming??
  2. Thank you Julie. Ideal. Have joined the group and claire and kids will try and come on the Monday.
  3. Anyone with kids on the north shore/northern beaches who might want to meet up?
  4. Does anyone have any views on the relative merits??
  5. Well, we are finally here. A quick 48 hr haze covered stop over in Singapore, and we arrived Sunday night in Sydney. Today proved big in so many ways, practical and emotional. Picked up hire car. Bought new SIM cards for recently unlocked iPhone. This will save a fortune and give us free calls and data for the first month. My uk sim went into an old phone in case any UK calls come though. Sat nav and a mobile broadband dongle bought this morning also invaluable already. Visits to 2 schools and a full food shop before a walk around the harbour in neutral bay finished our day. Not a bad first 24 hrs!
  6. If anyone can recommend a 3 bed furnished place for weekly letting in Mosman in June, please do let me know. We need somewhere for the first week we land. All guidance welcomed. Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks NSP. And yes those areas very much on our radar and from what I can see a decent journey into CBd as well.
  8. I will be working in CBD, and considering Seaforth as a suburb... The timetables suggest the bus is quick between 7 and 8 am... Is this the reality? Can buses get around quicker than the car, which i am told can take an hour... Can anyone help?
  9. Of course, with the exchange rate, multiply your UK salary by 1.5 to find the Aus salary. But with the cost of living being higher, some say 2.0, 2.5 or even 3 is a better guide. What is your experience or opinion?
  10. This looks like a set of marmite answers to my original post. Thank you all for your answers. I might take the middle ground ... Look for a house for the first years rental. The kids can't get that bored initially surely, especially with the family visits planned in the first year. Year 2. We can take a view if we move again. So, all I need do now is find that 4 bed house, with fully maintained pool, fully fenced, on the beach/harbour, 4/5 beds all ensuite with visitors annex for $200 a week. Simple.
  11. It looks like it might be a tad more tricky to get tickets than in 09. I bought tickets for the Pretoria and Ellis park test for about $8 each from touts! for the 07 World Cup final in Paris, I walked up and down the champs élysées for 5 minutes and was offered so many tickets at face value it was unbelievable? How? I carried a sign saying "WILL SWAP WIFE FOR TICKET" genuine fans with a spare ticket thought it funny and said they were happier than selling to a tout. My wife wasn't too happy though. i might employ the same tactic again!
  12. Not put off, yet! so what is the reputation and prejudice ( justified or otherwise)??
  13. I am hoping to arrive in oz in advance of the 3rd test in sydney. Anyone know about getting tickets?
  14. thanks Nicky for your notes. Is the point you make about so many kids in the area going to private schools strengthen the value of MSH or does it mean those that are left behind get swept up by MSH and the quality is poor?
