Hi Scaff, I've just joined myself and came across your post. I am currently on a 457 visa and have lived in Oz for the past 18months. The company does have to pay for the visa, but I have heard of a few companies that have asked migrants to pay the costs because the migrants actually wish to work for them in Australia (ie, to get over here). If you google 457 visa and choose to look on the Australian Government website it will tell you the in's and out's of employer and employee responsibilities regarding this visa. Hope this helps.
