Good afternoon, I am Brisbane bound next Saturday on a WHV. What English bank would everyone recommend for the transition between England and Oz? I have already set up for a NAB account but need somewhere to put my money in before I fly out where I wont get charged huge amounts for ATM withdrawals in Oz. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Well I am literally uping sticks from England and bought a one way ticket, I was 'uming and arring' for ages about were to travel to in Oz and basically picked Brisbane out of a hat. Masterplan is probably to make my way down to Sydney in the end so thought Brisbane would be a good base to start from. 'Movingbacktoaus' are you from the Brisbane area?

What up! I am flying out to Brisbane in late August and reckon I will just be finding myself a hostel to stay in for a week to scope things out and then move on from there. Can anybody recommend a decent hostel to a first timer? And do you think a week is long enough to get stable and move on from there? Ta Edd

Hi Ste, Sounds like I am in exactly the same boat as you. I will be travelling to Brisbane in August on a WHV and getting off the plane not knowing any one in the city! What work are you going to go for? I'm an electrician by trade so reckon I'm going to go down the construction line but not sure how easy or hard it will be to get a job straight off. Afternoon, I am planning to travel out in late August on a working holiday visa and although trained as an Electrician it is becoming pretty apparent that the chances of me breaking into the trade when I arrive will be slim. I therefore would be looking into manual labour work. Is there much demand for labourers? Would it just be a case of signing on with an agency when I get my foot of the plane? Would I have missed the farming season? Thanks Edd
