  1. Hi Danielle, so sorry but forgot I have enrolled at a Playgroup trial on Tuesday morning. Could we by any chance make it Friday? 9.30am...Fig? x
  2. I have also just tried to find a way to private message you my number but can't seem to do it. Are you on Facebook? Could find you on there and then swap numbers? x
  3. Hello. It's my birthday on Monday so going out for the day. I can meet on Tuesday if that is good for you? Same place? Whatever time is best. x
  4. Actually thinking on as long as I am home for 2pm on Friday so morning or lunch would be best x
  5. Hi. Don't worry about it, pretty hectic myself as it's my son's first birthday next week too! Know how you feel. We are free this Friday if that is any good for you? Any time is good for us and I know where the Wild Fig is so that suits us, it's 5 min walk from where we currently live. We get the keys for our new property this Friday and move in 2 weeks when our container arrives from the UK. It's a little further up North in Darch but only 20 min drive so not so bad. Lauren
  6. Hi. Yes would love to meet up. Let me know when is best for you. We can meet down at the beach for coffee or something. Where abouts in Scarborough are you? Lauren
  7. Hi! Well...we started the ball rolling in April 2010 by having a meeting with The Emigration Group (TEG). They explained the system etc and the best route for us using hubby's trade. However, our wedding was booked for June 2011 in the UK so we started getting everything sorted but knew it wouldnt be until well after the wedding. Lee did the IELTS and had to attend London to do his skilled assessment with vetassess. However...as it turned out we fell pregnant with Leo on our honeymoon so things kind of went on hold as we decided to have Leo in the UK (with him been the first grandchild). We finally had our medicals in October 2012 and made the move this February! Its been a long and stressful process but we made it and so far so good. We are looking at rental properties in places like Madeley, Woodvale, Hocking etc and then eventually in a couple of years we may buy if we feel settled. Lee starts his job next week. We didn't have one on arrival but he put his details on gumtree and has had loads of offers so its pretty easy, there seems to be plenty of carpentry work here in Perth. As for the blog...I have absolutely no idea how to do that!! I am not very technical. Its taken me about 20 minutes to figure out how to reply lol. I am going to find a few hours where I can sit and have a nosy on how to use this site properly and then that is certainly something I will do. I am happy to help with any questions or offer advice for anyone I can. Making this move has been one of the hardest things ever so if I can assist someone else in their big move I am more than happy to help! Take care and keep me posted on your journey! Good luck with the IELTS and assessment. If you think it would be helpful I can ask Lee (hubby) to send you a message to let your hubby know what to expect with the assessment. He was really nervous but said he felt quite confident but he said it was intense so it might be good for him to give you some tips...just an idea. Let me know. :notworthy:
  8. Hello! Me, my hubby and 11 month old son have just arrived in Perth from Sheffield, UK. My husband starts his new job this week and I am looking for some mother&toddler groups or any other mum's who have recently migrated and are in the same position as me! My son attended 3 playgroups a week back home in the UK so I am keen to get him interacting with others his own age again. We are currently living in Scarborough! Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  9. This sounds so similar to our circumstances! I am sure I could be reading about my own life lol! Our son Leo is the first grandchild and our parents also play a MAJOR part in our lifes but they were all so supportive. Leaving my best friend was awful, she gets married this year but we wont be able to afford to go home for the wedding and we had no option but to come now as our visa had a condition of entry by 3rd March 2013! Skype really is AMAZING. My husbands parents have already booked their flights for first visit this July followed by my Mum in October and my dad in December so really we will be with them again in no time!
  10. Hi there! I am also new to this site and still finding my way around! Me and my Hubby have just made the move from the UK to Perth with our 11 month old son. Hubby is also a carpenter and I am full time mum at the minute. We have only been here 3 weeks and are lucky enough to have friends to stay with until we find a suitable rental property. Still finding our way around but so far loving the aussie way of life. Perth really is beautiful. We are in the suburb of Scarborough at the minute but hoping to eventually move further up north of the river. I'll try and answer any questions as I know how daunting the move is. Leaving our families was the hardest decision we have ever had to make but it really is a better way of life out here. My hubby is 32 and I am 27 so similar ages to you too!
