  1. RN elder care is on the SOL. I think there are some negative vibes coming across here! I have just been speaking to more than 2 dozen people within the last 5 minutes alone on another forum who all went over in their 40's with lesser qualifications than I've got and they had no problems getting a visa. I wasn't planning on booking the horse on the next flight but these things need to be planned well in advance as they need numerous blood teasy and vaccs etc Feeling a lot deflated after some (only some!) of the replies so thanks but i will stick to the other friendlier (but still practical and realistic site that I have found)
  2. Oh right, my cousin got in at 40, he is an architect, he and his wife and kids been in Sydney for 4 years now.
  3. Hi all, please don't tell me off if I've posted in wrong area- total newbie to Poms in Oz site. We have been toying with the idea of emigrating to Oz and now starting to think about it more seriously. We are a family of 4 (maybe 5) myself- I'm a nurse with 17 years elderly care experience, aged 42. My partner is aged 40 and works in computer engineering although he is also trained as a chef but not worked in this field for some years. My eldest daughter is 16 and still at school, gcse's will be done by summer (UK summer) and she is wanting to train either as a photographer or a farrier. And my youngest daughter is 5. I say maybe a family of 5 as my son is 22 but I dont know if he would come with us or even if he could come with us or would he have to apply on his own merits etc. We have horses (4 in total) and 1 of them would come with us, that is not up for discussion, shes coming and thats that, I have looked into requirements and rough price guides and I'm willing to pay whatever it takes. We also have 2 dogs and we would have to discuss the pro's and cons of them coming. Obviously we are going to take advice from profesionals about making the move but would love to get friendly advice from forum members about any aspects of making the move- what do you do first? Find a job or sell up over here and rent while finding something? How do you secure a job over there if you cant attend interviews as you are in another continent? Has anyone had problems with spiders or snakes? (serious question!) Which is the best area to look at with regards to horse shows? I know Oz has a massive showing community but being such a vast continent, it would be easier to locate to where most of the big shows are. Please anyone, tell me anything about your experiences of moving down under, I would love to hear any and all stories Does anyone regret having made the move? If so, why? Thanks for reading and please tell me your experiences
